Does anyone find shipping arguments silly?

I've never seen anyone arguing over why one shipping is better than the other, but I have seen people aruging over why they like and don't like a certain shipping. Its all subjective, and the arguements on both sides are usually invalid, so I don't really get the point of arguing over it. I don't see the harm in defending a shipping or telling people why you like or don't like a shipping, but to argue over it is stupid if that makes sense. Its pointless, nobody ever wins, and pretty much all of the shippings will never be canon, anyway.

The rabid arguments, definitely. It'd seem that most shippers, within the context of the brony fandom, are pretty mellow about it. All in good fun, n' such. But then there are those select few who are just as bad as the 98% of all ANIME shippers - completely nucking futs. "Ermagerd, u no liek Flutterdash? I KEEL YOU!!!"

Yeah, I totally agree. Sure, I have favorite ships that I like over others, but that doesn't mean any ship is worth arguing over.

Yeah, I've always found the concept of shipping to be silly itself. Not shipping characters who make SENSE together or have canonical hints towards it, of course. (Which, in my opinion, involves none of the Mane Six hooking up together as they are firmly established to be friends.) But just... shipping random characters with no basis whatsoever. And THEN arguing about which nonsensical pairing is more valid? It is pretty silly. It's like arguing about whether or not the potato is better than the spoon.

but for real, it's another case of "stop liking what I don't like" mentality that has plagued society

Man you haven't seen shipping arguments until you've seen the Avatar the Last Airbender fandom. Those can get nuts.

The arguments here? Eh, the whole thing can get kind of silly, but it's not that bad really.

I find it strange enough that people find enjoyment in shipping in the first place, but having them argue over it...I just don't get it haha. I don't think I'll ever understand why It's so popular, or how it's fun. Each to their own though I guess.

I find it so silly that once or twice I've considered writing the most hated ships in fandoms just to get a rise out of 20-year-old men and women who are legitimately upset about cartoon love and must make sure that everyone who is enjoying it wrong knows it.
