Deal with the devil

A very close family member, soul partner, or child of yours is dying. There is nothing that can be done to prevent it and the doctors say that they only a few days left to live. You feel broken and beyond depressed. While on your way home, you are stopped by a tall man wearing a coat and hat. You can't see his face because of how dark it is. He knows about your problem and offers a solution. He tells you that all you have to do is take the life from someone who is equal to the person you want to save, and he will heal them. He also says that you have until they die to do it, so time is of the essence. He even offers to give the name and location of the perfect person to kill. The strange man then pulls out a contract, beckoning you to sign it.

Do you sign it and kill someone to prevent someone very close to you from dying, or do you refuse and try to accept the loss of this person you cherish dearly? Do you make a deal with the devil, or do you see right through his lies?

Edit: Here is my answer. Despite the negatives that could come out of this, I'd do it. Yes, that means I'd kill someone to save the person I love. I don't care about other humans anyway, so their lives are of no importance to me. Losing someone I care deeply for would tear me apart, especially if it were one of my younger brothers. Of course, another family would have to suffer, but unfortunately for them, I couldn't care less. It may seem very selfish, but I refuse to lose the people who bring me the only sense of happiness in my life. The devil can have my soul for all I care, as long as they live.

One thing my parents taught me is to never sign binding contracts from shady strangers.

Also there's the fact that I'm simply not capable of that. I don't think I could take another person's life and remain mentally stable, even for a "just cause" from my perspective. It would go against way too many of my principles.

Indeed I would.

Because that's someone I care about and truth be told I'm sure the world well do just fine with out me, because I'm sure he wants my soul for it.

No, because it would be selfish and if my friend/family member died they would be in a better place and I would accept it.

As a comic fan, I have very strong opinions on the matter. Easily summed up by Linkra

But in honesty, you'd have to be a totally short sighted moron to make a deal with the devil. No matter what souse you base him on (the fallen angel or the accuser) the devil hates humans. Hates us, loathes us, and wants to see us fail. You make a deal with him, your future is is that of a morality tale.

In saying that, the devil appearing to you in person to make such an offer should give one hope. Because if the devil and Hell exist, what else exist? Also, if the devil is trying to tempt you, he clearly doesn't have a claim on you.

It's just common sense!

Already knowing deals like this, there is going to be another "hidden fee." Like the person who you loved will die and be resurrected but as a zombie or some crap like that.

Besides, I believe if a life is ready to leave this world, let it. So no, I wouldn't sign it.

I would have too many silly questions and end up Pinkie Pie-ing the whole deal.

Well, I'm sure as hell not gonna sign without my lawyer present. Had the contract been notarized by the state? Are all fees on the contract tax exempt? If not, can I write them off on my W-2's? Hey, have you ever had a cherrychanga?

Easily. If the person is someone I don't know, I have nothing to lose and only to gain. I'd always save my own before someone else's, not a very Christian thing to do but at least I can admit it to myself.

I have a difficult enough time with the thought of killing an animal.  Even if I wanted to take the deal, I doubt that I could bring myself to pull the trigger (literally or metaphorically).

It's a bad deal. I wouldn't do it. How would you feel if someone killed you, or a loved one to save someone they knew, in this devil's deal? Also, how do you think your victim's family would feel about it? Their family member got killed because you couldn't just let go. Somebody who was healthy died so that someone who was dying (Well, we're all dying) could live.

I could never forgive myself for accepting this deal.

I know I say I wouldn't do it now, but I know if the deal was given to me I would be tempted. I would try my best to resist accepting it though.
