lets play Let's Play Pokemon Crystal Enhanced!

Hi everybody. I just started a series called "Let's Play Pokemon Crystal Enhanced!" Basically, I'm playing through a hack of Pokemon Crystal version called Crystal Enhanced. All of the changes can be summed up as thus: Everything just got a HELL of a lot harder. Seriously, this hack was created to just brutally beat the player into submission. And I'm also Nuzlocking it.

For those that do not know, a Nuzlocke run is where you only catch 1 Pokemon in each route, and if any of your Pokemon faints, it is dead and I can never use it ever again. This type of run is already quite a bit more difficult than your normal run, so slapping it on to a hack that is insanely hard normally will be...interesting, to say the least. Admitting, it was designed in mind for people to have a ridiculous challenge while Nuzlocking, but it changes nothing for the sheer difficulty of the game.

Anyways, here's the first video:

I plan on releasing a video every day or every other day, so watch for the updates!

Also, if you guys have any comments/constructive criticism, then I would like to hear it. Anything to help improve my videos is greatly appreciated.

Sorry, had to put that.

I played Crystal Enhanced. I don't think I could do a Nuzlocke and live to tell the tale. That game is brutal. All I can say is, good luck!

Yet ANOTHER LP I need to pay attention to! D:

First my one friend has two Star Wars Let's Plays going on, another group of friends both have Minecraft LPs, and a Morrowind LP, King of Magikarps's My Little Playthrough: Pokemon Yellow is Magic, and now this!

ARGHH! Why is everyone starting their LPs at once! I've been planning my own for a while now and I haven't even started!

But I'll make sure to try to keep up! Nuzlock AND Enhanced! Good luck man, you'll need it!

Most of the time I tend to avoid watching Pokemon LPs, mainly because I've played each of the games several times over and know them better then my own family.

But when I noticed you were Nuzlocking it, insta-subscribed.

I love Nuzlocke runs, most of the time I can't not play them. They're great for not only getting you to use Pokemon you normally wouldn't use, and at the same time making you truly cherish each Pokemon you have, not knowing when they could just puff away. So when somepony else does one, I can't not help but watch it, they're so entertaining, and far more suspenseful!

Though mind if I ask what changes are made to Crystal in the hack, aside from starter differences(It won't let me read the Nuzlocke page)? Is it a simple level boost fake difficulty hack, or are the trainers given tougher Pokemon, redone dungeons, etc.?

Also, will you be instantly releasing your Pokemon the moment they faint, or put them in a box and never use them so you can check how many died for your cause at the end?

Besides from being absolutely crazy, your LP is pretty fun to watch.

You also have a great voice, that dont make you cringe and hope the person would stop talking ;).

OMG YOU NUZLOCKING IT?!?!

Posted Image

I'm hoping I won't go to the grave /that/ quickly! :P

Sorry, had to put that.

I played Crystal Enhanced. I don't think I could do a Nuzlocke and live to tell the tale. That game is brutal. All I can say is, good luck!

Aye. I'll certainly need all of the luck I can get.

Damn, you're gonna stretch yourself thin with all of those LP's to watch.

Hah... Sounds pretty interesting... I'll be sure to keep an eye on this topic :P Being a fan of the Pokemon games, that is. I might wanna try it out myself xD Haven't quite watched the video yet, but I will real soon

You might want to hold out on trying this hack until after you watch a few episodes in, when I will begin to face other trainers. I predict many challenges ahead.

Besides from being absolutely crazy, your LP is pretty fun to watch.

You also have a great voice, that dont make you cringe and hope the person would stop talking ;).

Thanks! I was a bit worried about my voice not being that pleasant sounding to people, so the compliment is very much so appreciated! :)

Anyways, I have a new episode up now!

Next episode is when things will really start to happen, so you guys have that to look forward to!

Uh oh, rival battle incoming!!! But will the rival's Pokemon already be at a higher level, or will it be unchanged with the starter being level 5...? Gotta wait to find out, though I'm betting it's gonna be the former: The rival already has a higher-level starter :P

Pidgeys are deadly? I stil remember Spearows pecking away my whole low-lvl team when i started pokemon.

And don't get me started on the Zubats. Fighting them was a big no, but you'd encounter them every two steps.

Ehe. You'll see.

Zubats aren't that bad for me, really. They're just really really really really annoying. Although I do agree with Spearows-they are basically Pidgeys on steroids.

Anyways, episode 3 is out!:

Sorry for the delay. I had to do some things the past few days, but I make up for it slightly with a slightly longer than usual video.

lolwut??? Lucky Egg purchasable in shops? AND you get a Master Ball instead of a Berry on your starter??? Kinda seems like they wanna give you good tools early on to help you in the long run... And the rival battle did seem pretty easy :P Mainly because Squirtle only attacked with a damaging move ONCE xD

Hahaha, that Lucky Egg was certainly a surprise.

I wonder how much harder this game gets, as of now it does not seem all that cruel if you do a fair amount of grinding.

Well the squirtle could have stomped you easily, but I kinda expected the AI to screw it up once more...

  • 2 weeks later...

Can't reply to the comments specifically right now really because I don't have much time, but I will just say that yes, I will post EVERY video for this LP on this thread, even if it goes into the hundreds(which at this pace I wouldn't be surprised if it did >_>) and that I got REALLY lucky with the rival battle and that things are gonna get harder. MUCH harder.

Anyways, episode 4 time!
