gaming The most relaxing VG Music?

Recommended Posts

I always wanted to know who else liked VG Music as much as I do. I got a set for work, a set for sleep, on the road, mood swings, you name it.  Peace ones?  Let's honor some that many may not choose, like this classic!

It seems we think alike. I went straight for the Village of Snow and Glass as well. But I think this one suffices even more.

I like Wild ARMs too.

I love Eternal Sonata/Trusty Bell as well.

Final Fantasy XII is one of the best soundtracks around.

I don't know if this counts since it's a cover of a song from a video game but I find it very calming and inspirational. Makes me think of wild landscapes and running through forest.

Ps. If you haven't played skyrim you need too.

I saw someone else post a Maple Story song (aw ye) and heres a favorite of mine :)

and one more

I also find a lot of the songs from Kirby Epic Yarn calming but also up beat and cheery. I wont post anymore videos though cause then this would be super long xD But yay for game music :)

There's two in particular that I listen just because of how relaxing they are for the most part.

This one for being calming and the most fitting theme hub in the game at least is what I think.

And this one for being so soothing to listen, I stay around to listen to the theme all the time.

Two choices here. The first one is rather arbitrarily chosen from Shadow of the Colossus. I say arbitrarily because, really, most of the music from this game does the trick for me. But this is one of the few tracks that isn't associated with giant beasts that you battle to the death, so it's the one I went with. Have a listen, if you care.

The next one is a weird case, in that I've not actually played the game it comes from (Enemy Zero) and therefore don't know the original context. I first heard the piece used - bizarrely enough - as part of the soundtrack for an old silent documentary called Man With a Movie Camera. The music managed to stay with me. Here it is:

Posting again, this time a tune with a little rustic charm.

Too bad it's so short...

If we're gonna do FF13 music then there's no way that I can't put this in as well:

FF13 sure has some nice music. Well, I guess FF in general has good soundtracks, but I often feel like 13 doesn't get as much attention as it should.

This requires two answer from me.

If we're talking about just a single piece from a full OST, then I have to mention "From Past to Present" from the Skyrim soundtrack.

As far as a full OST is considered, that honor goes to Shadow of the Colossus. Yeah, there are some action pieces, but the soundtrack really evokes a lonely, yet peaceful calm throughout.

The most relaxing?

The title screen theme from Xenoblade Chronicles of course:

Both super relaxing AND epic. You feel soothed like you could fall asleep, then all of a sudden the bigger instruments come in and fill you with a sense of adventure... :o

Simply the best.

I mentioned Halo before, specifically Halo 3: ODST, however I would like to include MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat and Assault Rigs OST's.  They had some nice ambient themes, :)
