I would not recommend Lesson Zero to the parents, not because they wouldn't like it or that it's a terrible episode (it's still one of my favorites) but that it is so atypical of the show in general in its structure and mood that it might give parents the wrong impression. I'd sooner direct them to Sonic Rainboom, Feeling Pinkie Keen, Party of One, (which has the sanity slippage that comes closer to the general mood of the show), the Return of Harmony episodes, or the Canterlot Wedding episodes. Of course, the decision ultimately depends on what any individual's parents like...

Ultimately, think about what your parents like and then direct them to an episode that fulfills as many of those elements as possible. The mental breakdowns might be the best part of the series but not everyone finds that entertaining.

I think those are probably the best episodes, the Royal Wedding is good too, how they turn their backs to Twilight. That's cold for a kids show.

it all kind of depends on your parents interests, MMMystery on the Friendship express might be good because of all the references to older shows like Sherlock Holmes, James Bond, and Dudley Do-right. that is if they were interested to these shows in the past, if they were star trek fans then you should show them the Discord episodes.

MMMystery is the one I would go with first. As an adult the same age as your parents, it's one of my favorites because it is smartly written and has some great references that someone older would get.

Lesson Zero, as much as a great episode it was, as it made me become a Brony, is a hit-or-miss episode. I wouldn't show it first time.

 

MMMystery is a pretty good one for a first time episode.

 

Sonic Rainboom is personally the one I would go with. It gives you a glimpse at all the different personalities. (Rainbow being Rainbow, Rarity gets sidetraced by fame and glory, Fluttershy being well...shy, Twilight being the braniac, Applejack being a down to earth pony, and Pinkie being Pinkie)

 

Also, if they like it, I would show them Hurricane Fluttershy or The CMC.

I would show the Discord episode first, to show them that this show has some plot. For your mom MMMystery episode, she might like a mystery episode. Then for dad Party of one, to show how insane the charters can get.

You are lucky to have such parents. My mom is too busy to stop and watch some MLP (as if she would ever want to) and my dad is only about "20%" interested (see what I did there?). I got my dad to watch about 15 minutes of an episode, then he ran away to play Diablo 3.

 

The car you saw earlier with RD's cutie mark is only a fraction of what my car will be. I will paint it gray (personally if I have to) and give it blonde colored details. I will put bubbles on both flanks of the car to represent Derpy. I wonder how many people will notice what my car will represent.

Be fore My mom even new I was a brony she had seen the royal wedding. Because i have two little sisters who watched that episode atleast 17 times. And I don't think she cared for it very much..... you know, thinking back I should have told her alot sooner!

When introducing my dad to MLP, I began with the first two episodes ("Friendship is Magic, Part 1 and 2"). It seemed like a natural starting point since, well, they are the first episodes; they establish the premise for the entire show. But I remember somepony suggesting "Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000" since it incorporates the basic lessons of the show while displaying some clever writing and a strong musical number, one which would resonate with adults.

 

I hesitate to jump on the "Party of One"/"Lesson Zero" bandwagon. I think those are better episodes to show contemporaries (i.e., young adults) who will most likely come to a viewing expecting a namby-pamby, let's-all-drink-tea-and-play-dress-up type of affair. For older adults, however, it may be better to hook them with episodes which emphasize clever writing and dialogue---not to say that either of those episodes lacked those attributes.

Alright i am going to go with discord to show both of my parents at the same time if i can get both of them to watch it at the same time.

 

But for my dad, since were all capitalists, i think the cider episode will show a business aspect of it, i ll put that as a choice and reset the polls.

 

I also removed lesson zero and discord since discord won for both of my parents to watch together, and lesson zero wasn't popular nor did i think it was a good idea.

I'd definitely say that of the nominated episodes, you should (1) show your parents the same episode, and (2) that episode should be "Party of One," at least out of the nominated episodes. It has a great amount of humor that I believe would appeal to any first-time adult viewer. Best of luck pal!!!
