Oh my apologies, I didn't mean to assume as such. Keep in mind, the show is American-Canadian produced and both are rather large countries, so the fandom over here is just large by virtue of being part of a very large general population.

 

Also, just because we have lax weapon laws (supposedly anyway  ), doesn't mean such a weapon is easy to obtain. Even now, quality swords are not mass produced items that you could pick up at a sporting goods store. Typically, you have to contract an individual smith or forging company to craft your weapon.
