Are Rarity and Applejack still the 2 least popular ponies of the Mane 6?

I don't make topics very often, but when I do, Rarity is usually involved somehow

As is the case here.

 

Now, in the past, the general consensus amongst the fandom was that, out of the mane 6, that Rarity and AJ had the two smallest fanbases of the mane 6; however, more recently, I've seen a surge of popularity for these two wonderful, yet, underrated ponies

 

I don't know how you feel on the subject (probably why I'm making this topic ) but I honestly don't think these two ponies have the smallest fanbases anymore, and they're getting the attention they deserve

So, yeahh, blah blah blah, what do you think?

Do AJ and Rarity have the smallest fanbases of the mane 6 still? I think I've made my opinions pretty clear here

In this case, yes. Both of them individually or together have really good episodes, but even with the fanbases that they have together they still deserve something for what they are given from the writers. But in terms of fanbases, both of them have a lot of fans.

Nah. I think at least Rarity's gotten a major boost in fans. Applejack has gotten a bigger base, too, but I don't think it's as big as Rarity's.

I think this season mostly since Rarity Takes Manehattan aired, I suddenly saw an uprising in Rarity fans everywhere. So yes I think Rarity got some fans. I don't know about Applejack. But I will say I've seen a downturn in Rainbow Dash fans.

No, rarity's fanbase has exploded recently. Like atleast doubled in size. While the fanbase for applepone has not exploded like the one for marshmallow, it has steadily grown.

Both of them have had a surge in popularity but it's a bit too hard to know if they're still the least popular. Nevertheless, they both deserve a lot of love since they're both fantastic characters, especially Rarity. Of course, Rarity seems to have the best episodes, so it's no surprise people are starting to like her more now.

I think they have both gotten larger fanbases; Applejacks from when we met Trenderhoof. Rarity has had a fabulous fan base for a while to me. It seems that all the "fashionistas" love Rarity for obvious reasons. Hipster bronies seem fond of her as well. Moderates are more for the Applejack. Creatives love everypony - although every group does- so it differs.

 

In conclusion,

no i do not think they do

Rarity simply has been denied an equal amount of episodes; fandom wise, she is quite popular. Applejack is a 'background' pony, according to jocular fandom member's views. Show-wise, she has had some episodes, but falls short of the requirements needed to be considered a main character.

Well,to answer that question we have to get deeper on the actions of the Mane 6 through this last season,because it influencenced on good ways(More love to Applejack and Rarity) but on bad ways too(Rainbow Dash didn't had a good episode yet and Twilight neither,without counting season premier)

 

 

Both Applejack and Rarity fanbases had grown a lot during the last months,meanwhile Rainbow Dash one had lost quite a bit.

No offense to Rainbow Dash fans,but this season has been horrible for Rainbow Dash(Or we have to remember Rainbow Falls and Daring Don't? -_-)

 

Well...i'm going off topic...

What i mean is that,although both Applejack and Rarity fanbases can be the smallest,they're the steongest,and it cqn be seen how Applejack fans defend Rarity,and Rarity fans defending Applejack(Ghostie,you're one of these )

 

I didn't had enought time on the fandom to judge the fanbases from before to now,but i can say that Applejack and Rarity in general had grown very well between fans,and the hate to them has started to reduce(Although there're people who still uses sometimes the "Best Background Pony" joke with Applejack

Didn't know that there were stats on fandom views of best pony now... Hm. What I think is the case then is that Rarity and AJ fans are becoming more vocal while the predominant fanbases are becoming the silent majority. Sort of a case of, they've already said their bit and they're now just quietly enjoying their characters, so the lesser populated bases are now the ones making all the arguments, making it seem like they're the new majority. It's a common enough occurrence.

Well, this forum seems to be the exception... Im quite baffled about that, let me tell you. Im still trying to understand why it is so different here... Im not complaining though.

Oh, To be honest, the first time I ever even heard of the show/fanbase at all was from a friend back in 7th grade, when the show was just released... Eventually he would have all the merchandise, and it was mostly always Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Twilight, or Flutters on it... And I usually never even noticed a single hint of Rarity and AJ ever, on any of his stuff... So, I guess naturally when I actually read into the whole fandom myself, and noticed there are six main characters, I was like "Wait...... Where'd these other two come from, are they new or something?" XD

My buddy  had this to say in a different topic; I think it should help out in this case.

 

 

The issue is relative, not absolute. Yes, Rarity gets a lot of hate, but relatively speaking, she gets a lot less now than she did in the past. In fact, I'd say she's getting a lot more love, as well.

 

Even EQD, for all their love of drama and character bashing, chose Rarity as the best of Season 4, as of January 12, 2014:

Contrast this with Season 2 from the same site:

 

That's a rather massive change in favor of Rarity.

 

Again, though, that's not to say that there aren't haters, but generally speaking, Rarity is getting a lot of appreciation this season. As for why AJ got more support, it's because she was being far more rational than Fluttershy was. Her decision was simply better, and many fans (including myself) agreed with her point of view. On the other hand, I think most can agree that Rarity wasn't exactly doing the right thing in RTM. 

 

Just my two cents.

As for Applejack, I've seen a huge surge in fans for her as well, but I don't have as much concrete evidence like Aquila provided, but I'm pretty sure she's had a surge in fans as well

I find the very idea that an Applejack or Rarity fan should support their favourite ponies in gesture completely absurd. I mean come on, you expect me to fanboy about Applejack's popularity just cause she's my favourite? Well-...actually yeah I probably will XD

What you say about Rarity is true.She was more underrated than even Applejack.

 

But the trouble with Applejack was that she was the target of awful jokes like "Best Background Pony"x,and that had won ti herself a lot of hate during those times.

 

But now,both ponies have more respect through the fandom,and there's not any problem at all

 

 

Oh,and i found pretty accurate your definition of Applejack with FF IX.I kinda enjoyed it

Honestly all six of them are my heros in different ways, and Rarity is definatley a hero of mine, she is an independent business owner, with world renown designs through out Equestria, and she is open to take her talents to the core to aid her friends. I know she did disengenuous things in Manehattan, but when she stood up for her friends and said simply point blank how important they were to her, that made me smile so big.
