Which of the mane six would make the worst mom?

It would be Rainbow Dash likely followed by Rarity. Third would be Twilight Sparkle. All three would at first have similar problems, a lack of time for a child and each would have a different motivation (freedom, business, study). Rainbow Dash and Rarity would be gone often. Twilight would also be 'gone' in her study but would at least be able to give wisdom to a child once in a while like a distant guardian.

Rainbow Dash. She just doesn't come across as a person who would take care of or nurture things.

 

Applejack and Fluttershy would definitely be the best at being a mother based on their attitude and personality.

I WOULD say Pinkie Pie, but then she's the only one that's been known to actually babysit.. babies.

 

I'd have to go with Rainbow Dash because she just doesn't seem like the type to give up her freedom to sit down and take care of a baby.  As others have said, she's way too independent and concerned with herself.

Not to mention the rest of the Mane 6 have experience with children (siblings, CMC, etc.)

I believe RD has interacted with the CMC like.. once or twice.. briefly.

 

She would make a great dad.. kind of. I guess.

It's really hard to tell when you think of the Mane 6 as teenagers.  (If they aren't, why did Twilight end up at a high school?)  Their personalities are going to change unless they go irresponsible.

 

Rainbow Dash is training to be part of a group with military discipline.  She's going to have to find a husband that is okay with being the home parent.

 

Rarity reminds me a little of Angelica's mom from Rugrats.  She'll probably figure out a way to make it work, but again it means finding a good match of a husband, and perhaps a nanny.  (My grandmother was a nanny and her charge looked more upset than I did at the funeral.  I'm calling that nannies are the opposite of irresponsible.)

 

Applejack comes with the entire Apple family.  Auntie Applebloom might end up carrying the papoose in the fields.

 

Fluttershy will be fine.  Smothering at times, permissive at others, but the kid will be adjusted.

 

Pinkie Pie might calm down but still be eccentric.  It should only be a problem if she somehow births an introvert.  (I'm imagining that Pinkie Pie might gain some Rarity-like social climbing quirks.)

 

Twilight would have a husband and staff, but still make time to read her child to sleep.

I think RainbowDash would make the worst mother. She is arrogant and way too caught up in herself to raise a baby. Now, before you say "Well, RainbowDash has changed since season 1!".

 

No. She hasn't. She still acts the same in all aspects. I see her totally neglecting a child.

Someone posted Pinkie Pie? I can't agree. I think the ending of "Baby Cakes" proves she's capable of handling being a mother. She knows that it's a huge responsibility based on love, not pleasure. Although yes, she would probably feed them junk food. Maybe put Applejack in charge of making sure they get fruits and vegetables.

 

I pick Rainbow Dash, for the sole reason that I imagine she's apathetic about having children in the first place.

I bet she would spoil her kids rotten, though. At the same time, I see her being able to put her hoof down when she needs too.

 

Applejack: "Be sure to be home in time to help out your aunt Applebloom make the pies." The stern mother. She'd probably set the curfews at an early time, and constantly worry about them. She'd probably make sure her foals are doing everything they have too, and stay on top of everything.

 

Twilight Sparkle: "Did you do your homework? You need to stay on top of school. Oh- hey! Put away that video game. Look, I got you a new book to read. It's so fascinating-" Twilight would be the mom that really cares for her kids, but annoy her kids due to the fact she wants them to be the best at everything.

 

Rainbow Dash: "You going out? Cool, just make sure to be back by one or two. And if you're gonna drink, make sure you call me. I'll bring you home." The cool mom. The mom that every single child wishes they could have. She would make sure her child would be into a sport in which she'd probably pressure them to do good in, but I think she'd be rather laid-back. As long as her kids are safe and happy, she'd be fine.

 

Fluttershy: "Oh.. no... I already bought you a toy today- erm.. Okay. One more wouldn't hurt." The total pushover. I love Fluttershy, but her kids would probably walk all over her. She probably wouldn't be able to control them.

Hmm, I don't think anypony of mane six is "The Worst Mother". All of them has good side as a mother and the bad side.

Let me tell ya my feeling about this:

 

Twilight Sparkle: Good: She is doing so good with Spike and he is still a baby dragon. She also wants best for other ponies and she is kind.

Bad: She reads everything from books. I mean EVERYTHING. "Step 1: Get a baby. Step 2: Make food for it. (Check the page 2f**kyou4) Step 3: Feed the baby." I hope she learns before this happens.

 

Rainbow Dash: Good: She is not lazy and she would play with her kids all day long. I think her kids would get a proper education.

Bad: Well yeah. I don't think she knows anything of taking care of a baby. She is always on-going.

 

Applejack: Good: She is already like a mother to Apple Bloom and she is doing great. She is "Family First"- type of pony.

Bad: She has a lot of work on apple fields, so when does she have any time for kids? I don't think she would take any freetime for the baby.

 

Pinkie Pie: Good: Like we all saw in season 2, Pinkie can take care of babys. At first, it didn't go well, but she learned.

Bad: She was good with kids, but I don't belive that she would be good like in 10 years. She can't do it in a long time period.

 

Fluttershy: Good: She is kind and tender. Her kids would also get good education.

Bad: I think she would freak out when the baby starts to cry. And, does she have time for kids when she has 1000 animals to take care of.

 

Rarity: Good: Her kid would never get bullied in school 'cuz her mom is so cool. She also knows how to raise kids. Bad: She has to run a shop and she wouldn't change the babys diaper cuz' it is so dirty.

Twilight Sparkle: she's organized so her kids would probably be organized and she will take good care of them BUT she over-reacts a lot over books, studies, etc. so her kids might be pressured to be "perfect" students

 

Rainbow Dash: she has really good skills that can be passed onto her kids and also she's a really good motivating coach alTHOUGH she can be rough sometimes and very arrogant and maybe her kids might become arrogant too and it might lead for them trying to be better than her in lets say for example, sports and it might cause an issue

 

Fluttershy: well she's sort of a pushover and speaks too quiet so when trying to control her kids I'm not sure BUT she does have the STARE XD and she CAN speak firm quite a few times and in fact maybe her kids end up being quiet too so it won't be a problem but if her kids are hyper then I guess it would

 

Pinkie Pie: oh boy.... well she did learn a few things for baby sitting but also baby sitting someone's kids is NOT the same as taking care of your OWN and idk but Pinkie seems too focused on fun than anything else

 

Applejack: ok I know this one would be an awesome mom she has morals, values, and she's honest & loyal and a very hard worker. The problem would be her being over protective but I think if the kid does what her sister did she will snap out of it

 

Rarity: well she's also organized, and has some experience dealing with her sister but she will have to learn to have more patience and don't push the kids too much BUT she is very generous so I know those kids won't be missing anything XD and they would look fabulous XD but also end up with the same kind of good heart she does XD although her drama might annoy the kids unless they're like her

 

See they all have their positives and negatives and it also depends on the kids themselves too ya know but I can't necessarily find a "worse" instead I can find the best which would be Applejack

Unless the show cannonizes Rarity's diaper-changing abilities in some future episode that has her in a flashback with baby Sweetie Belle, I think we all know who is going to be conscripted to handle that task when the foal's father is not around: Spike. Well, I got three of the mane6 who could be the worst mothers  for different reasons (cons-pros):

-Rarity: She has been inconsistently selfish with Sweetie and Spike, and she also the last one of the mane 6 who the Cakes went to ask to foalsit the Cake twins. But that sometimes can be averted, like Sweetie's fifth birthday

-Dashie: She can be quite insensitive, impatient, and her love for freedom can get in the way. Besides, if her kid were a egghead colt, she might be too pushy with him (and to be one of the last ponies the Cakes ask too foal sit doesn't help). But she also had a character development, like her more patient and sensible treatment with Flutty in Hurricane Fluttershy, and Scoots in Sleepless in Ponyville (when Faust herself didn't saw her as a good big sister before that)

-Pinkie: Her initial experiences with the Cake Twins is a huge evidence, besides, all she did successfully in their episode was clean the mess, because they were asleep. She might also be too lenient to her kid(s) making them parties all the time. But there's time for her to know when to be Pinkie or not

I have no dirt for Rainbow and she's my second favorite pony but she seems like she may just be a little irresponsible. She may not care for her child as much. There would also be the case of who'd she marry. I mean that doesn't seem like her type.

I think Rainbow Dash would be the "worst" although I'm sure she could manage, it is hardest for me to see her raising a child. If her child was really active and loved to play, I can see how she'd do better than if her kid wasn't like that. But still, I feel like she's be sorta thinking it was an inconvenience on her life to raise a child. I'm not saying she couldn't do it. I just have a hard time seeing it happen.

 

On the other hand, I think Applejack would be a really good mother because she essentially raises Applebloom as her own child.

It's pretty funny how the Cakes ask Twilight to babysit the babies first, as she is the most prepared. Definitely going with her for the most prepared mother.

 

From best to worst:

Twilight Sparkle (Organization, planning genius, well prepared)

Fluttershy (Cares for animals, can probably care for children just fine because of this)

Applejack (Family pony, protective, and thinks on the go)

Rainbow Dash (Don't forget that she likes to stay true to her word, and if anything she would try to honor that even with her freedom complex)

Rarity (She has a sister, although she's rather independent and would probably be a terrible parent if Opal doesn't even like Rarity at times)

Pinkie Pie (Facepalm...I'm sorry but Pinkie's maturity level isn't enough to be a parent. She needs to learn how to be objective before having kids of her own)

As it stands, only one of the Mane 6 is in any way suited to become a mother, and that's Applejack. She's already been in a very supportive, nurturing relationship with Apple Bloom and it's a role she's relished. Add to that her strong sense of family connection and you definitely have maternal material.

 

Now, as to why the others would not make good mothers, from most suitable to least:

 

Next best would be Fluttershy. Any child of hers would never want for love and nurturing, but she might still be too reluctant to discipline her children when necessary, which will make them impossible as teenagers.

 

Next up, Twilight Sparkle. Like Applejack, she's already been in a pseudo-parental position, but hasn't acknowledged it as such like Applejack did. She sees Spike as an assistant first, family second, and isn't always that cognizant of Spike's feelings, or even his physical well being, because of her preoccupation with studying. As it is, the only time she even hinted that she loved Spike, she was scolding him.

 

After that, Rarity. She has some experience through looking after Sweetie Belle, but since her parents are still around, it's clear she sees the relationship as between siblings, not as a caregiver. She's more preoccupied with her career than Twilight is, and simply wouldn't be bothered. Luckily, she also wouldn't seek out becoming a mother for the same reason.

 

Pinkie Pie has no discipline herself, so it's not likely she'd instill any in her kids. Unlike Fluttershy, who would be reluctant to discipline her children, Pinkie would be joining the mayhem, if not starting it.

 

And, least suitable to be a mother, is Rainbow Dash. She's young, impulsive, and more self-centered than the rest. She has her plans, everything else is secondary. She might love her kids, but she'd ignore them until they cried. Even her relationship with Scootaloo is more as a role model rather than one with any real interest in her upbringing.

 

Now, for those who I said wouldn't make good mothers, I will say that that observation is conditional. All the ponies are depicted as being young adults in the show, and aren't yet ready to take that leap, so they could change by the time it happens to them, but as it stands, that's my humble opinion.

For me it is Applejack. There is nothing wrong with protecting your family. But when you see her in Somepony to Watch Over Me, she will proctect her family from tripping on a ladybug.
