Dr. Wolf's account terminated? SPREAD THE WORD!

Oh please! Do you even see who dopy that looks? You actually truly believe it's immoral for Hasbro to protect their legal rights? Hasbro owns all the rights to all character designs in MLPFIM. Just because someone likes those characters, doesn't mean they're allowed to totally ignore the law whenever they feel like it. This statement has nothing to do with Dr Wolf's YouTube account being closed. As yet, nobody knows the real story.

Now you're just sounding foolish. They're protecting their copyrighted property from people using them in any way shape or form without their permission. What about that is so hard for bronies to comprehend? It doesn't matter if the person isn't making a profit monetary wise. They DO NOT have permission, or a legal right to use the characters and situations created by Hasbro, or Hasbro's paid agents. (The writers and animators working on the show)

Except they're not because using the material to provide criticism or a review is well within Copyright law(broken as it is). I'm pretty sure sites like That Guy With The Glasses, as well as the numerous personalities that make reviews independently(such as the AVGN, Irate Gamer, Cartoon Fiend*, Frankotomic, Ashens, ect) wouldn't exist if that wasn't within the bounds of free use.

*He switched from cartoons to gaming long ago and changed his handle, but I don't remember what he calls himself now. That's why most of you have never heard of him under that name. I think his new show is called "The Gaming Shelf" if it's even still active.

Dr.Wolf used someone else's creative work, true. But he used it in a way permitted by copyright law: He used it just as a "quoted" content (selected fragments, static images); he used it for critique; and he used it on fair-use manner, not meaning to "steal money from Hasbro" or something like that. And this is whole another animal than publishing whole episodes and making money on it.

I think more foolish is to believe in a system which allows corporations such as Hasbro to claim right to YOUR creative work which you made using YOUR OWN resources just because there's a bit of their work in it. They haven't spent a penny for Dr.Wolf's work, they haven't participated in his creative work in any way, but still they think they can decide what he can do with the fruits of his own work.

As you know, I was speaking of the fandom in general. I don't actually care one wit about Dr Wolf's Youtube channel. I'd rather watch an actual episode, then listen to some guy blather on about it. I enjoy the show, and that's enough. I don't want to watch a video of some guy ranting over scenes he doesn't like, or going all goofy because he caught a glimpse of Derpy. That just helps spread the negative view many people have of the fandom.

I was speaking of all the fans who decide that since they like MLPFIM, it means that they can do any darn thing they want with the intellectual property belonging lock stock and barrel to Hasbro.

Hasbro isn't claiming the rights to other people's works. Hasbro is sending C&D orders to just stop people from using THEIR work. If someone creates something using artwork owned by someone else, that someone else has every right to put  stop to it. It's actually embarrassing that Bronies simply can't seem to comprehend that.

As I've said earlier, it is not known yet why his youtube channel was shut down. Bronies all just flew into a rage with their "I like ponies, that means Hasbro has no right to stop me!" rage. How do you know his channel wasn't shut down because it was hacked? How do you know he didn't post a non-pony video that infringed on some other company's rights?

@@cuteycindyhoney, You can make a really good guess that Dr. Wolf's YouTube account got shut down through a phishing scam once you see the clues and gather the evidence. I already posted on the second page about how he lost his account along with a link to a video that explained a phishing attack that's been spreading for weeks.

Thank you for being a voice of reason! I had skipped over somehow missed your post on the second page. It sounds like Dr Wolf got caught up in this phising scam.

Dr, Wolf is back, I just came from YouTube and saw his channel is back up. Now for those who don't know who Dr. Wolf is, he is an internet brony reviewer, however not an analyst like Digibrony or Tommy Oliver, so Dr. Wolf does not dive deeply into the narrative conjecture of each episode, instead like a typical reviewer he gives his view on what makes an episode work, and what flaw the episode suffers from, then he gives his personal opinion of the episode, and Dr. Wolf has quite a congeal attitude, he is pleasing to listen to and has an appealing charm, so it is nice to see his channel has been recovered, if you have not seen his YouTube channel yet, give it watch, you might find something that other brony reviewers or analyst miss.

Seeing as Dr. Wolf's channel is now back up and running, it would seem that this thread has run its course for discussion and will now be locked.

Considering that another primary focus of conversation has been fanbase-created content and copyright laws, anyone still interested in discussing these topics may find both of these threads to your liking:
