G1 fan club

I'm more of a G3 and G4 fan but I have seen bits and pieces there of G1 and it looks pretty cool

I liked G1 a lot, some of it was really good, but some of it was pretty cheesy... If you decide to look into it, I advise the multi-episode-arcs over the stand alone episodes,,,

Pretty much one of my problems with G1 was that there were too many main characters. I mean, I remember two of the three humans, Megan and Danny. I remember nearly all the bad guys names and a few of ponies.

I guess if they put a little bit more interest into their personalities I would have liked it a tad better.

But with all that said, I still love it. G1 MLP is like the Bible of Cuteness and Heavy Metal combined.

I don't remember her name but Megan and Danny had a little sister.  So many ponies came and went I can see not remembering their names, I don't.  I think there was a Firefly, Applejack and maybe Lickysplit, but apart from Applejack I have no idea who the other ones are.

The little sister was Molly, but I must confess, I had to look that up... And yes, G1 did have a lot of characters, and I think they learn later on that having main characters for the show and side characters just for the toyline was a more profitable strategy...

Molly, yes that was her name.  Thanks.  I'd have thought to look it up if my back were feeling better.

It doe make sense having main characters would help their toys sell better then having interchangeable pony characters.  Where one can't recall the names to well since there are so many.

I did some research on the site that Kulstor linked and it just has her listed as White Mystery Pony, see here.

I can't say as I picked up on here, or her similarities to Rainbow Dash of later gens... I was prolly too busy looking at the cat, lol... I love kitties!

Guys thanks so much for looking! I'm gonna go look around on the link posted by Kulstor >_< Merci beaucoup!

A little food for discussion :3

I wish the g1 show would have kept with the same animation quality and style as the Rescue from Midnight Castle special. Lines were crisp, colouring was bright and poppy and general storyline was strong. I mean Jesus, that stuff was tight! Aside from the other special, I thought characters looked so rounded. Even the movie, which I love, was a little lacking in animation quality if you compare it to other 80,s cartoons that had their own movie at the time

Good movie.  The only thing that bugged me is I don't think that prince appeared again, and he and Spike were supposed to be friends.  I guess they really were not.  Unless he did in one of the many episodes I didn't see.

Yeah that's definitely the kind of attention to continuity that would have been nice, but I think they probably wanted to keep humans out of the story as much as possible, since Meagan was gonna be a recurring character

Odd that he never returned.  Even for a brief scene saying how busy he is or something, or a line one the characters could say or a letter Spike could have received.

Cute picture, those 2 with marshmallows on sticks.

I know, it would've been nice... The best I can guess is that they treated the movie like a reboot of the series? He appeared in one of the two specials that aired before the movie/TV series... There's another character who was only in that first MLP special and then not seen again in G1 TV/movies too...

Like anything else it was done on the cheep

They also had good VA's plus in this they used Sandy Duncan and Tony Randol whom were both quality play Wrights/actors in musicals.

Welp, I watched the 1984 Episode and I'm getting through the End of Flutter Valley arc.

It's a bit dated, It's got quite a few animation errors, it's got that 80's cheese, it's got too many main characters to remember, I cringe at every musical number and god dammit I love it to bits!

Where do I sign up for this fan club!?

Hello everyone!  Would it be OK for me to join this great fan club as well?  I grew up collecting the original MLP toys and loved the G1 cartoon as a kid.  My favorite ponies are Sweet Stuff, Gusty, and Fizzy.  Right now I'm trying to start a G1 MLP once again..but the original ponies are so expensive nowadays!  I really wish I hadn't gotten rid of all my old pony toys.  My favorite being the Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe.  That was practically the best playset ever!

Hi Dreamcastle!  It's nice to meet you.  I'm pretty sure my mother donated it when we were cleaning out our attic and getting rid of old toys.  I now realize that was a huge mistake.  My goal is to find another Sweet Shoppe to add to my collection. ^^

  • 2 months later...

Galaxy(the leader; my favorite), North Star(the adventurer), Wind Whistler(the intellectual), Paradise(the organizer), Lickety-Split(the erratic one), Surprise(the sporadic one), Posey(the loner)...

*gasp* Cherry Jubilee(the instigator), Fizzy(the ditz), Shady(the downer), Sun Dancer, Moon Dancer, Heart Throb(the hopeless romantic), Sweet Stuff, Gusty(the rash one)...

*gasp* Glory, Applejack(the clumsy one), Twilight(the secluded one), Firefly(the forward one), Ginger...(Snap?), Mimic(the ultra mage), Princess Primrose(technically not a pony, but still.) And a whole mess of baby ponies.

Yeah, I kinda love G1. Started watching three months ago, and it's still amazing even for 2014.
