As the evening sun sets upon the equine world, the land begins it's lunar cycle as the goddess of the moon takes her nightly run. It was like any other night; blissful, serine, and beautiful. However, the ponies that gazed upon Luna's skies were viewing more than stars. One single spec of light was not of natural light. And, it was approaching.

Royal Diplomatic Quarters

Canterlot Castle

Seth woke to an annoying start in the middle of a blissful slumber, a hard knocking coming from his mahogany door. The wolf slowly stood from his beg, a light growl building. "Whatever it is, can it wait till morning?" He barked lightly, still very drowsy.

"Um... not really sir. The princess requested your presence immediately!" A guard called from the other side of the door. "They wouldn't say a word, just that they needed you."

"Uhhh.... I'm only doing this for Celestia..." He moaned, opening the door. He was a little surprised to see the guard's panicked expression. "Are you... ok, guard?" The greywolf asked.

"Well... there's roomers... that... well... it's not my place sir."

"Spit it!"

"Aliens." He said, resting a hoof on the wolfs shoulder.

6AM

Celestial Guard Base, Canterlot

-----------

Night Comb moved around the complex as he heard hoof steps behind him.

'Comb. You're off duty today, correct?' He recognized the voice. Golden Defense, the base commander. Night Comb withheld a sigh. Of course he was chosen to do the stupid tasks on his day off.

'We need somebody to check something out. You've been selected with a team of two others. Meet at the command post in 2 hours. If you're not there, we are going to find and we will drag you down there, kicking and screaming if we have to. Understand?'

Night Comb snapped his hoof up. 'Yes sir.' The base commander trotted off, probably to go find the other two. Night Comb let out the sigh he had held.

'Why can't I ever get a break?'

With a stern, businesslike face, Seth trotted towards the castle royal hall. He was now being escorted by a total of four guards, each armed with experimental guns. To Seth, the models were primitive to modern wolf tech, but Equestria was still learning in the forms of combat.

When they reached the main doors, there were ten elite guards standing watch, pointing their weapons as the five arrived. "Eclipse, enter. Your escort is to leave immediately." With that, the lower guard vacated the halls. When he was alone, the head guard opened the main door, allowing the wolf inside. What he met was breathtaking.

Before his stood bipedal creatures. They had no fur, and were tan in skin. They wore nearly full clothing and armor. The only part that wasn't covered were their faces and the ends of their appendages. They stood over him by at lease a half meter. As he walked in, everyone, including the princesses, faced him.

"They have wolves here too?" One of the creatures asked, suppried by the tome of 'his' voice.

'Well... at lease they know common.' I say, scanning the room. "Hello."

"And it talks?" The alien asked again, this time getting hit by one of the other bipeds.

Night Comb shifted in his seats as the commander overlooked the three of them.

'Earlier today we came in contact with two new factions...once calling itself the UNSC and the other the Covenant. The UNSC claims the Covenant are here to destroy us. However, they've sent down a diplomatic team. You three were selected because you can keep your mouth shut. Your job is to greet the diplomatic team and discover their intentions. Then come back here with the data.' The commander instructed as he have each of them a slip of paper.

'Memorize these on your way there. We're leaving now.'

10 minutes later

Night Comb watched from the back of the truck as they moved along the dirt road before glancing back at his code.

LTCMWTR1701D

It didn't mean anything to him , but they were told it was important. He slipped it into his bag as the truck rumbled down the path.

@@Delernil,

After a bit of an update from the princesses, Seth was now sitting at a table with the newcomers, humans as he was told, and was about to begin the conference. At the table, there were three representatives for the humans. An admiral by the name of Branigin, a lieutenant, and a major. The latter two were at Branigin's side, dressed in what Seth assumed was their armor. The admiral was in what looked to be a navy uniform.

On Seth's side were the princesses. Apparently during this event, all other diplomats were either too far or already on an assignment to be called. It was not odd to see luna at the table, as the goddess had been Seth's mentor on diplomatics. It was Celestia's presence that was unnerving for the wolf. He was sitting as the head conversationalist for the nation of Equestria, above Celestia.

"So..." The lieutenant began, twiddling his appendages. The admiral, taking the officer's blunt hint, cleared his throat and looked t his papers. "I wish to thank you for providing a peaceful conference as to clarify our being here. We come from the planet Earth. Our mission is to capture a target of interest of a second faction of aliens known as the covenant. We have been at war with them for nearly two decades, and this could be the key to a swift blow. That blow is so-"

"Not to be rude, but I must interject." Celestia interrupted, raising her hoof. "We can not let land on our soil to play out a war! I will not stand to let this bloodshed be on my hooves because of a war that never involved us."

"And if I might add." Seth said. "What right do you have to persuade us that the covenant are the enemy? We are neutral to both parties, we haven't had any reasonable evidence that you are any better than the so called threat."

(This will go on for a bit, so you can start yours.)

Night Comb jumped out of the truck along with his two teammates. He turned to face the diplomats.

They were huge.

Night Comb couldn't believe that they were as tall as they were. The diplomats were Celestia's height! The commander jumped from the truck and approached the new friends...or enemies.

'We are here on behalf of the Equestrian planet. What do you require?' The commander said stiffly.

'You are deemed holy by the Prophets. To spare you, there is one requirement. You will join the Covenant. Refuse, and we will kill you or take you by force. Accept and perhaps you will be treated better.' One of them said without a hint of emotion, as if he had practiced this. The Equestrian commander looked the 'diplomat' straight in the eye.

'Unfortunately I cannot make that decision without our rulers appr-' his response was cut off by a beam of light through his chest. He gasped and fell to the ground, bleeding. Night Comb and the others raised their weapons.

'Who is next to refuse?' The alien boomed. One soldier stepped up. He didn't even get a word out before a ball of light struck him and burned away his flesh. He screamed in agony before falling silent. Night Comb lowered his weapon as the only other remaining soldier did too.

'Fine. We accept your terms.' Night Comb stated with a slight harshness to his voice. There was no use fighting back.
