Do you like Phil Collins? (Don't worry. I won't quote American Psycho.)

 

He is one of the most successful Pop Rock artists of the 80s and one of the most successful english music artists ever. Collins begun music career when he was a drummer with Genesis, but then slowly started to find his talent in singing and begun to have a solo career.

 

Some of his most recognizable works are: Another day in Paradise, In the air tonight, Against all odds and his songs he did for Disneys Tarzan.

 

I myself am a big fan of Collins, being exposed to him at a very young age, because my mom is also a very big Collins fan. He is one of my favorite pop artists of all time and i would even place him up there with guys like Michael Jackson. I know that some people call this blasphemy, but that's just my opinion.

 

So what's your opinion?

Never heard of him, but that's probably because he was at his highest point in life before my time. And considering he was involved in 80's rock music, I probably wouldn't like his music anyway. Most 80s rock I dislike.

I was never a fan of Genesis or Collins himself much. He's got a nice voice for sure but the few things I've heard from him/them are a little slow for my tastes unless I'm in the mood for it. The only Genesis song I like isn't even done by them. I like the Disturbed cover of Land of Confusion considerably more than the original.

I liked Genesis.  Didn't care much for his later stuff, especially when he started making soundtracks for animated movies.

I, too grew up listening to Phil Colins and Genesis, and I've always enjoyed listening to them. I'm generally not a huge fan of soft rock, preferring harder sounds myself, but as was mentioned above, listening to Phil Colins is fun. 

 

I also watched Hook recently, always entertaining to see him in that.

He's one of the only singers that sing adult contemporary musicians that I can tolerate. But I liked his Genesis work more than his solo work. I also remember him contributing to the Disney's Tarzan and Brother Bear soundtrack.

 

Here's something interesting:

 

In the music video for "Invisible Touch", he used the drumsticks as a lip-synching microphone and did other funny stuff.

I like Phil Collins. I'd recognise his singing voice anywhere (no really). My favourite ones of his songs is definitely Two Hearts, I just want to play that every night and You Can't Hurry Love, I just love listening to it.

I feel his song "In the Air Tonight" is a little overplayed for me.

 

 

I don't rave about him a whole lot, but I totally love a lot of the songs he puts out.

I like some of Genesis/ his songs. Born in '88,A lot of his stuff was on the radio when I was a kid.

 

One of my favorite songs he sings I just found a couple of months ago around halloween by accident. I never heard it before.

 

 

It's about burglars being held hostage by ghosts in a haunted house. It's pretty catchy.

I do like Phil Collins but I mostly know him from animated movies. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I mean that I like his work in movies like Tarzan and Brother Bear.

I always cry with the song "You'll be in my heart" and I feel nostalgic for "Look through my Eyes". But otherwise, I don't much about him no...

He's been part of my childhood, yet I don't know anything about him. "Against all Odds" is wonderful <3 (Yes, while writing, I went to find some songs )
I think he is a good artist, just not the kind that I'd be a fan of... A lot of songs sound similar to me...

Some of his songs aren't bad, and then some are the pure cheese that I hate the 80s so much for.

 

Either way, Genesis was much better before he took control.

I don’t like Genesis, but some stuff from his solo career were ok like “something’s in the air” and the collaboration with Earth Wind and Fires member Philip Bailey in “easy lover”

It's a real shame that he can't play the drums anymore. He's one of a kind. I doubt will ever see another like him again.
