    However, we've already seen that in some cases of personality change ponies don't always remember what happened while they were in an altered state. For example, Rainbow Dash didn't remember what had happened while she was under Discord's influence and was frantically asking everypony about what was happening. I know a lot of fic authors have theorised that Luna didn't experience anything while Nightmare Moon was in control, or that she was in some kind of stasis while imprisoned in the moon. So I see this as a nice (or not-so-nice) confirmation that yes, Luna experienced it and wasn't just tucked away in some corner of Nightmare Moon's mind, and yes she does remember it after coming back to herself. Speaking of over-the-top crazy form - Given what she appears to be like normally, I can totally understand Luna becoming Nightmare Moon with enough provocation, whether real or imagined. The fanon version of her I couldn't see doing anything more than slamming her door and sulking in her room.

    I do wonder what must have passed between the sisters in private, when they didn't have to keep up a royal front for their citizens. It must have been heartbreaking for both of them.

    Exactly why I think it makes Celestia a tragic figure. I have read some fanfics that use exactly that and it can make for a really powerful story. I can't help but think of all the emotions that would have been stewing inside her as the thousandth Summer Sun Celebration approached. She was of course familiar with the prophecy of Nightmare Moon's escape, she must have been feeling joy, fear, apprehension, guilt and regret all at once as she contemplated what was going to happen.

    I would say she is never cruel if she doesn't need to be. But if it is necessary, to protect her ponies, I believe she'd do pretty much anything, no matter how she might feel about it personally. I think it makes Celestia more of a tragic figure in a way.

    I was surprised at first. I was certainly not expecting "fanon Luna", of course, but I'm really not sure what I expected. However, I loved where they took Luna's personality, and I was so pleased that she was obviously still the product of a bygone age and having trouble adapting to modern pony society.

    There have been a lot of posts in this thread since I last saw it, so I hope I'm not repeating somepony else's discovery here, but when I was rewatching this episode one thing struck me. When Twilight first asks Princess Luna to lower her voice, she replies "We have been locked away for a thousand years. We are not sure we can." This implies to me that Luna was awake and aware for the whole length of her imprisonment. And even though she was Nightmare Moon at the time, it was still Luna who experienced it and remembers it. Just a little bit of fridge horror there to ponder. Maybe some fanfiction authors can do something with this. Anypony else agree with this interpretation?

    There's sure to be a song in the next episode, it's all about Rarity and Sweetie Belle. They'd be crazy not to make a great song for those two voices.

    I found Pip kinda annoying. If he's a recurring character I think he's going to become The Scrappy. But I loved all the rest of the episode. Luna was wonderful, and I love how much of a nerd Twilight really is, she even had a nerdy costume.

    I loved Luna so much in this. I was unsure about the changes to her appearance when I first saw the screenshots but her personality really suits the changes. And it's great that she's struggling with the changes to pony society since her imprisonment, I was really hoping to see something like that.

    I'm really looking forward to the return of Pinkamina when Crooked Trees decides it's time. And a different format will mean we'll probably get a better story in the end. I love Crooked Trees' art so much, and that blog made me love and hate the artist both at the same time, it was amazing.

    I love red meat so very much. In steak form. Best meats I've ever had would be camel and ostrich. They are so much better than beef! Especially the ostrich steaks, they were amazing.

    What do people think of when they think "RPG" though? I mean for me, RPG means mostly oldschool stuff like Baldur's Gate, Arcanum, Heroes of Might and Magic, and even The Bard's Tale. A lot, though not all, of newer games that get tagged as RPGs I really consider more action/adventure than anything.

    On a gaming forum I participate in, there is a pony group, with it's own mailing list. I noticed this in it this morning: "Nicole Oliver, said in the Madponies podcast that they had started recording the third season. She says it at 4.50-4.55." So. Nicole Oliver, voice of Celestia and Cheerilee, has let slip that season three is underway!

    I certainly love it. Art of the Dress is probably still my favourite, but Winter Wrap-Up is a very very close second.

    Best response to those kinds of questions. A lot of people who'll tease you about it will quickly give up when they realise they can't get you embarrassed about it.

    I have several computers in use. My main desktop is an i7, 12Gb RAM, 1Tb HDD, Nvidia GTX260 video card. It's probably time to upgrade the video card, which I'll do after my house move. I'll probably buy a GTX580. This one runs Windows 7. I'd be running Linux on it except I like my games and WINE is just not quite good enough yet. My file/streaming/proxy server is an old Pentium 4, 4Gb RAM, 4Tb HDD. I really must look at upgrading it, that CPU is a real bottleneck. This runs Debian Linux. My netbook is a EEE1000HE, Atom N280 CPU, 4Gb RAM, 260Gb HDD. OS on this one is Ubuntu Linux. It doesn't get a lot of use any more since I bought an Android phone. Just about everything I did use my netbook for I can do more conveniently on my phone.

    Okay, I've been a bit unsure about posting this, but one of my real favourite fanfics so far is actually a very mild clopfic. Pleasedon'tjudgeme! All the mane six have roles in the story, but it's mainly about Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie. It's very sweet and loving, and not at all explicit. In fact, it changes scene away from the action at key points, to a conversation the others are having. The reason I like it so much is that everypony's personality is spot-on, very true to their personalities in the show. And Pinkie is just so nice to Fluttershy, it's beautiful. It touches a bit on the episode "Feeling Pinkie Keen" and is called "First and Last to Know".

    Honestly, I feel like a blank flank since I've certainly never discovered any kind of grand talent or life purpose. It's kind of depressing, really. Maybe something stylised and symbolic like some stars, since I love night time, and if Twilight's star pattern can represent magic mine could certainly represent the esoteric knowledge I enjoy discovering. Edit: perhaps some kind of flower since I'm a bit of a hippie at heart and I love to hug people.
