When is Rainbow Dash going to learn her lesson?
TorqueEffect replied to Champion RD92's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
It is just a part of her personality. You can't change someone's personality, at least not with a simple one time lesson. I mean it is the same with Rarity always being a bitch. None of our Main Six are actually all that good at their elements to be quite honest. Except for maybe Fluttershy, and Pinkie. -
I don't work specific shifts. But mainly second shift, though I do work First shift some days, like today.

Firefox, since Chrome is insanely unstable for me. Also it is very vulnerable to malicious software. Never had a problem with Firefox.

I agree 100% with what Mist is saying. I think he hit the nail right on the head.

I turned into a complete slacker once I hit Junior High, and I never recovered from it. I barely got my High School diploma, and I didn't graduate with my class, was supposed to graduate 2008, but didn't. I was put into the "dummy" school. Basically a school where you do all your schoolwork on computers, and don't actually have to go to classes, just had to go to a study session a couple times a week. Needless to say I even cheated to get through that. So yeah, lots and lots of home work I didn't turn in during those days in regular highschool, so those count as 0%s. School bored the hell out of me, I had no motivation at all, and when I mean no motivation, I mean NONE! When I did, I could only apply it for a couple weeks before I fizzled out and went back to slacking. Not going to college either, because I find I am not the school type. I feel the money would be wasted, because in this economy, just under HALF of the people who go to college actual get a job in their field of study. Plus I would rather not have huge school debts weighing down my subconscious stressing me the fuck out. I am not the smartest person, but I am not stupid. This is how I look at it. Why waste over a third of my life going to school, just to have a job where I still have to work 40+ hours a week? It just isn't worth it in my eyes. Live life while you can, don't waste your life away in the pursuit of more money.

Oh god the file system design of Linux. Maybe it is just what you are used to. But I am so used to Windows, I can figure out where everything is. But I have a hell of a time finding where programs are installed in Linux, because they seem to be in upteenmillion different folders. I also find it a complete pain in the ass when you want to install a program in linux, they tell you. Oh go here, add this ppa, enter this command, then it will install. Why can't I just having the fucking .deb file from a direct download and just install it? Worst offender of this is Handbrake, I never did figure out how to get it downloaded. I couldn't imagine using non-debian builds of linux, you would have be some kinda super nerd to find that shit comfortable. Oh and Flash is completely broken in Ubuntu for me, lags, then locks up the whole computer out forcing me to reboot, and this highly praised HTML5 or whatever it is doesn't support HD videos. Boo!!!!

technology So.....I might have gotten robbed on my $2000 rig......System faulty
TorqueEffect replied to TheMarkz0ne's topic in Media Discussion
For $2k I would expect allot more too. You got taken to the cleaners with that. God I would feel bad charging someone anymore than $100 to build them a computer. about a year ago I built a desktop for a friend. The whole computer came out to be a little less than $1k It had the following i7 3770 3.4ghz 2GB AMD 7870 GHz Edition 120GB SSD 1.5TB HDD 8GB of DDR3 That alone is already better than what you have listed, with the exception of half the RAM. (16GB is pointless for gaming) For $2k I would have built a really badass rig. Sure it wouldn't be running Titans, but those are so over-priced that they are nothing more than "show-off how much money I have" cards, but still at $2k it would piss all over that rig they built you. -
Running Ubuntu 13.10 on my new Acer C720 Chromebook. If it wasn't such a pain in the ass to use like linux always is, and had more game support, I would use it on all my computers. Seriously, if anyone wants a good cheap laptop, spring $200 for one of these. They do only have a 16GB SSD, but you can upgrade to either a 60GB or a 128GB one for $60 or $100, although that will void the warranty. The New Haswell Celeron in this thing is no slouch either easily able to handle HD videos, and play Half-Life 2 and similar games at a decent frame rate. Still haven't got TF2 running though, seems to have a video memory problem with the Linux version, but installing it in Wine may help, but the framerate I bet would be hard to tolerate.

My Brony flatmate is beginning to worry me!
TorqueEffect replied to ialwaysfinishsecond's topic in Sugarcube Corner
I think all there is to say has been said. Though I don't see where people started to assume he was trying push it on you. But whatever. I would just tell him to give you some space, and or tell him to just back off, and that he has crossed a line that makes you feel uncomfortable. I also agree with what some here have said, and obsession is a phase that all of us bronies go through, some take longer than others. Like me, I didn't really start pulling out of my obsession until the huge break after Season 3. So mine roughly lasted about a year and a half. Some may fall from obsession to passive interest, I know quite a few people like this, and even one of my old friends just lost all interest in the show after he got a better PC, so he had games to obsess over instead. Dude, nothing about his post says he is anti-brony. I am sure if he was he wouldn't have even bothered coming here, and would have just moved out and found somewhere else to live, that or straight up told the guy off. The guy obviously just wants a bit of advice on how to deal with him from people that understand him more, "aka" our community because he doesn't want to hurt the guy. -

Or finalgear.com they have torrent packs of every season, including Season 1, and the latest season finalgear.com <<<< Yeah, all three of the hosts have done shows other than Top Gear. Jeremy Clarkson has done his own DVDs, and I can't think of the shows he has done off the top my head but I know he has done at least one. James May has probably done more than anyone else, even has a series on the youtube channel Head Squeeze where you can listen to his rambling in interesting scientific stuff. I watch both his Toy specials, and that one show about doing crazy things with toys, like build a full size real Lego house. Here is the Head Squeeze channel. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMrtJn-MOYmfqNgyPxx6NYMZnd25y4shc Hammond has done a few shows but can't think of any of them either.

What no Amish Paradise on that poll? Not my favorite, but still, that is an extremely popular Weird Al song. I voted for White and Nerdy. But I also equally like Angry White Boy Polka.

technology How is my PC rig for the next gen
TorqueEffect replied to TheMarkz0ne's topic in Media Discussion
I strictly build my computers on best performance for the price. It may not get me the best stuff, but it is always cheaper when I go to upgrade down the road and still get performance gains. Like what the OP said, normal people have bills to pay. Granted I don't have a $200+ a month car payment to make, but I do have a car, so I have to pay for gas, insurance, and my cell phone, along with other small things that add up to quite a bit over the course of the month. I went from having nearly 40 hours a week part-time, to 25 hours a week thanks to fucking Obama and his 30 hour requires full time benefits bullshit. It is also not the highest paying job, or even really a decent paying job either. It is $8/hr to drive a panel van around delivering auto parts. I do have another job, but I rarely ever get work for that because it is one of those "work when you are needed" jobs. Also not going help that in a couple more years if Obamacare hasn't been repealed, we are going to be paying $600+ a year if we choose not to have over-priced health insurance that covers shit we don't need it to. Oh and if you don't pay the fine the IRS comes after you. (Thank you liberal fucks who voted for Obama!) Needless to say Intel CPUs and Nvidia GPUs are not in my budget, so I almost strictly use AMD/ATI. But don't get me wrong, if I had a $1500 computer budget, it would be an Intel, Nvidia build. Even though gaming is strictly single-threaded processes at the moment, but we are talking next gen here, who is to say in the next year or two more than half of the new games are not going to be multi-threaded? Isn't EA's newest Frostbite engine muti-threaded? What about the new upcoming Unreal Engine? So I would say either go with a AMD FX six, or eight core chip, or go all out and get an i7. -
Yeah I was just in a bad mood when I posted that. The game isn't bad, but it is highly overrated. It was waaaaay better back in the day IMHO, but I can see why they had to keep adding more and more things to it, or else it would have dwindled in popularity. I started playing it way back when it was still $20, and I bought it for $7 on sale. God that was a while ago, I was still in friggin' highschool, so that was like 2008 or 2009, will have to look at my bronze badge and see what it says.

Favorite Mane 6 Character Episodes
TorqueEffect replied to Shanks's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Favorites Rainbow Dash ~ Wonderbolts Academy Twilight Sparkle ~ Lesson Zero Pinkie Pie ~ Too many Pinkie Pies Fluttershy ~ Putting your hoof down (I would say Bats, but that wasn't really Fluttershy focused) AppleJack ~ Apple Family Reunion (It may have had a song that was meant for pre-schoolers, but I find myself re-watching this one allot) Rarity ~ Rarity Takes Manehatten (I would say Sisterhooves social, but that seems like it is just as much Sweetie Belles episode.) CMC ~ Ponyville Confidential Disliked Episodes (just for the hell of it) Rainbow Dash ~ Mysterious Mare Do Well (Sure she may have had a massive ego in this episode, but her "friends" acted like complete assholes to her) Twilight Sparkle ~ A Canterlot Wedding (Yes I went there, Not saying this was a bad one, just the worst out of the Twilight episodes) Pinkie Pie ~ A Friend in Deed Fluttershy ~ ( I am sorry I just can't seem to choose one, I enjoyed them all.) Applejack ~ Over a Barrel Rarity ~ Sweet and Elite CMC ~ One Bad Apple- 99 replies

TorqueEffect replied to Rascal~'s topic in Stardom's Creative Resources
He is the link to my new OC profile. http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/torque-effect-r5563 Apparently the last link, I posted it in the wrong section. Because for some reason there needs to be two different OC databases, one being for who knows what.- 1,074 replies

Do you want Shimmers as a season 4 roster

I just don't like Rarity because she is manipulative liar, and whines to get what she wants. Case and point, in the Episode Putting your hoof down, she manipulated the nerdy stallion by lieing and sweet talking him. (Nothing I hate more than a woman sweet being a manipulative liar, especially to the opposite gender, so this is an absolutely horrible lesson to be teaching young girls.) In the episode a Dog and Pony Show, she whined and complained, and bitched until she got what she wanted. (Again Not a good lesson to be teaching young girls) That and the fact I can in no way relate to her.

Yup, along with Richard Hammond the Pikey (Pie + Key), and James May as Captain Slow (Turtle)
