I just bought a second-hand old game Star Trek: Borg a few days ago...Unluckily, it can't run on my window7 laptop or XP virtual system, and is immune to Dosbox...

There are some problems with the timeline...Captain Picard lives in 2300s...and the federation technology is sufficient to create the Equestria in many different ways by then (AI, Genesis device, Hologram, Genetic engineering (they even created human with telepathy and levitation capability) . Interspecies reproduction problem could be solved since early 2150s.... and first contact was in 2063.... About the Q,... Well... I can hardly believe that he would be banished again, since he has a family and he saved the Universe and lead the continuum to explore a higher level existence (According to the book I, Q by JDL. I haven't finished that book yet, he did saved the universe but the higher level of existence thing is just a guess...) , so it is more proper to let Q banished before encountered the far point (relative to the time in Q Continuum)

movies/tv Anyone sometimes watch VHS over DVD?
Humphrey replied to SUPERFOX5's topic in Media Discussion
Well, I have never watched a VHS, and actually never seen a VHS player before. I sometimes watch DVDs and Blue-rays... -

If you have to find a scientific explanation, perhaps there is one. One is formed by the environment. A name could be a representation of the parents' expectation of their children, and parents always create an environment to form their children's characteristics. It is likely that most ponies follows the path their parents build for them. Diamond Tiara, for instance, is mainly influenced by her mom and dad. There are still ponies with cutie marks different with their names, like Babs Seed and Cheerilee. You could also say its all those "destiny" things since everything in MLP universe seems to be arranged.

Do you consider ponies as a way of escaping reality?

technology Need Help Choosing Computer Upgrades
Humphrey replied to Verily British's topic in Media Discussion
It depends on what games are you playing. For most games you just need to upgrade your Graphic card, but for some sandbox games with physics engines, space engineers, for example, upgrading the CPU and adding more memory banks might be a better choice. Personally, I don't think SSDs are necessary. -

I'd rather not talking too much about those weapons, what I did and capable of doing might not be fully legal, and I wish to keep a clean record. Those controls I referred was predator control, not deer hunting, which I believe in some place misguided.
-
Just say that I am capable of assembling simple weapons with materials near me. I'm OK with those who hunt for food, as long as they are able to maintain their local ecosystems, but some people hunt for fun and make their victims to be precious exhibits in their house, some others think they are gods and try to control the animal populations for "good reason" and I can't see any of their contribution.
-
I don't, and I don't actually like guns. We are also not allowed to keep guns. Some of my "friends" moved to US and show off their guns and hunting skills, and I broke up with them immediately. I remain neutral about whether we should keep guns in our home but I hate those who kill for fun using advanced weapons. I am a engineer and I am capable of defending myself with the knowledge I possess.

Do the goings on of life in the world around make you sad?
Humphrey replied to ManaMinori's topic in General Discussion
I used to feel sad about many things happening around, but now I have already adapt. A race has to experience horrible things and learn from it in order to survive. At least there are some people who is able to learn what to do and what not to do from the bloody events. Humans are not gods, they are a group of (primitive) creatures growing up. There's so no need to cry, we still have the hope. -
Limited by my meshing skill and my laptop performance, I have to assume Rarity's body is a cylinder with a length of 1.5 m(5/3 times pony's height), and diameter of 0.5 m. The coefficient of drag of such geometry is about 0.18+_0.02. Assume her weight is 110+_20 kg, the equilibrium velocity should be 120+_20 m/s Before the equilibrium, Rarity has fallen more than 5160 m, If there was no ground, she should have fallen for 51.6 s. Actually, the time duration is only 49+_1 s, the distance she traveled is only about 4800m. Rarity's initial position from the ground is only 3 times of the height of the stadium, comparing to the error in the calculation, it is negligible. Her final position can also be regarded as 0 meter from the ground. ∴The altitude of Cloudsdale is around 4800 meter.
