      @R.D.Dash, Yep. No astronomy during cloudy or rainy weather, unless you own a radio telescope.

      Yeah, at very random times. :laugh: And sometimes my sleep can be quite fragmented, which makes it seem even more like I don't. :P Actually, this week I've slept more than in ages – maybe due to the darkness outside or my cold or various factors combined :muffins:

      @R.D.Dash, spiders don't bother me much. I don't like em in the house tho. 

      I like Argiope spiders, since they're big and have cool patterns.

    It's cloudy and rainy again. I think we should launch our own telescope into Earth's orbit and put a big sticker of Twilight Sparkle's cutie mark on it. :laugh:

      Yeah, a lot of rain blew thru my area early this morning. Saturday is suppose to be clear for me, but I'll be traveling to visit family.

      I'm waiting on my dslr to get repaired so I can do some long exposure astrophotography again. Dang shutter died on it a week ago. :dry:

      Yikes, hopefully it's not too expensive to fix... My Nikon D80's been on the frits for a while, but I haven't had the courage to take it in to a specialty shop yet.

      It's not too bad. It's gonna cost $300 to replace the mirror box, including shipping. The camera is a Sony A55 converted to full spectrum (UV, Vis, and Near IR) so it's definitely worth fixing.

      I had to ship mine to a shop twice. Once for the conversion and just a week ago for repair. I wish there were local shops, tho.

    I heard back from the repair place. Hopefully I'll get my camera back in 2 weeks. Can't do any long exposure astrophotography without it and I'm dying to do some!

      @Tacodidra, It was the shutter. It's dead. The mirror box assembly is going to be replaced, so it should be good as new when I get it back. (after a thinner wallet, of course)

      @Lil'Cinnamon, for a while, Sweetie Belle was my favorite from the CMC's. I don't know what it is exactly, but I just find Apple Bloom to be fun and adorable to watch.

    It's not from my 16in telescope, but the C8 is definitely capable. I recorded some video in near IR last night, but the C8 is just too small to resolve any cloud features on Uranus.

      Thank you so much! Even without the cloud features, that's more than I've seen of it thus far. How long of an exposure was that?

      Shutter speed: 18ms. Luckily, when I record video, the software saves a text file with all the settings. I recorded 10 minutes of video and stacked the best 15% of frames. I use Autostakkert!3 for stacking and Registax for sharpening.

    I waited til Uranus was 60 degrees in altitude before imaging. It was worth it. The atmosphere is so much calmer near the zenith.

    Only took a couple minutes to find Uranus with my night vision binoculars. Got my telescope tracking. Now, I wait for it to rise higher in the sky. The Moon shouldn't be an issue tonight.

      No problem. Wallets get really really thin when you want to go larger (like 16in) and have tracking. Ask me how I know. lol :laugh:
