  1. I did notice the legs were a bit thin after I was done... I didn't realize I didn't put ears on it at all. Wow. What the heck. I'll be sure to note that for later.

    books The Book Thread

Anyone here ever read the Bartimaeus Trilogy? Some of the best fantasy literature I've read in a long while, it's a shame it's labelled as a children's book - most people don't give it a chance. Currently rereading it for the first time.
  4. I know, but you can't really expect a 9 year old to. You need to be pretty open minded to even consider the fact that you MIGHT like the show. Was simply correcting him saying MLP's target audience was around that age when in reality it was much younger.
  5. Either the internet or the nuclear bomb - the internet has completely changed the lives of most people in the West, and made it much, much easier to transfer any kind of data. The nuclear bomb is capable of wiping out our population, if anyone for some reason should want to do that. I do think the car and it's predecessors was an important invention too - it made it much easier for regular people to travel far. Not as big as the other two, though.
  6. A 9 year old boy watches Transformers and Jurassic Park. I've never met a kid over 5 who didn't consider anything with pink on it absolute taboo.
  7. In my area these "gangsta" kids aren't all that common, which I'm thankful for, but the few I've met were enough to make me hate them. It's unbelievably shallow - but that's what's cool now, for whichever unfathomable reason. I'm just glad I don't have to associate with 'em.
  8. This is getting so old. Call me a hipster, but Slenderman really isn't that creepy to me anymore now that it's a huge fad - the mythos were better when everyone didn't know about them. :[
  9. Himmlisch ends with more of an "ih" sound than "isk"! Other than that, Flutterbot seems a little similar to FiW... they might consider it plagiarism!
  10. LOL. I got 3.5. I really am in desperate need of a new computer, this is so embarrassing. Too bad I can't afford one right now. ;-; Guess I'll have to wait...

technology Microsoft got a new logo

While I'm going to miss the old logo, the new one looks so... modern. It's nice. <3 Those four squares never get old. NEEEEEVERRRRRRR!
  12. No limits? I would want the ability to do absolutely anything at any time. If that's cheating, though, I would probably wish for immortality/immunity to any sorts of illnesses and harm.
  13. Heh, I haven't even bought any pony merchandise myself. Hopefully you won't back off again this time. Of course, I still live with my family and I'm not sure if anyone but my brother even knows I like the stuff, so I'd rather keep it a little private. I thought of buying a shirt or something, but there aren't really any big clothes lines in Norway that sell themed stuff like that, and I'm not usually one to buy a lot of clothes so buying it online would be sort of awkward, too.
  14. The Swedish Spitfire doesn't sound nearly as good when you're from a Scandinavian country other than Sweden and have grown up thinking that Swedish sounds ridiculously stupid. Because it really does. I do love the Italian opening though, that's just amazing.
  15. It will definitely stop being that thing you see everywhere on the internet once it ends, but the fanbase will still be going strong for a decent amount of years, I believe. What some of you all who mention Star Trek and Star Wars and what not, remember that those franchises have lots and lots of canon material - MLP:FiM is just a TV show. We don't have any movies or novels or comics or anything, so it's a lot smaller compared.
  16. What the guy above me said. If Hitler liked ponies and considered himself a brony, he would be one - you can't just lock people out from a fandom. "You're not allowed to like this TV show because you killed people" sounds weird.
  17. Ah well, he was going to confess soon anyways, so I guess it doesn't really make a difference. You could even say it was a helpful bump in case he didn't dare anyways! You really do seem to meet a lot of horrible people when you shop.
  18. While this parent was clearly not a sign that humanity will live for much longer, you probably shouldn't have told him his son was a brony. I definitely wouldn't have appreciated that, at least.
  19. I'm a bit weird about this myself. I do have a pony desktop wallpaper, I use pony pics for my avatar on a lot of sites and such, but I still sort of try to hide it from people. Like quickly opening a random program if someone is about to see my desktop wallpaper. It's like I can't decide if I want people knowing or not... Hmm.
  20. The ending of Jonathan Stroud's "Ptolemy's Gate" is pretty damn sad. Only after reading the first two in the series, of course.
  21. That would have been absolutely awesome. If they were all under the age of 7 they probably don't remember specific lines from the episodes, though.
  22. I didn't even know about neovikings until you posted about it in Life Advice. Pretty interesting stuff. I'm from Scandinavia myself so I surely have ancestors who believed in stuff like this, but I didn't realize it was still around now. Is "neovikings" really the official name for it, though? Just seems sort of weird considering the vikings were pirates, not necessarily all followers of the Norse gods.
  23. Nice job on this! I admit it got a little too sugary near the end and I had to switch to porn to outweigh it, but otherwise an awesome video.
  24. I personally think being immortal would be amazing - having unlimited time to learn and experience everything. It's likely your friends die before you even if you aren't immortal, and the fact that you never die would simply give you a chance to forget. While our technology does indeed get more advanced with the years, I doubt we'll see immortality during our life. Sure, we went from Pong to Crysis 3 in a few decades, but for anyone to be truly "immortal", they would have to regenerate cells as quickly as they lose them, which is far from achievable right now.
