Probably not a very popular take amongst ponybros, but I prefer the slice-of-life format of G5 so far. I like that most episodes are about small, interpersonal conflicts meant to teach a moral. Its very akin to seasons 1 and 2 of G4 and a lotta episodes from G1's toons. It's cozy, its not up its own butt with DUH LORE, it's just a fun, silly horse program. Not always satisfactory for the "grown up" part of my mind that actually cares about worldbuilding and character depth, but man does it hit with the grey matter that makes me go HEE HEE HOO HOO when a rainbow horsie pulls a snafu. When I want G4 I watch G4, but it really doesn't give me everything I want from the franchise. Especially with the lame concepts they brought in during the last seasons like the school of friendship and the student six lololol.

Just finished it after being unable to participate in THE day of hype and uhhhhh It's a mediocre kids' movie with fun concepts. Not especially good, not especially bad. Still a fun watch anyway. Just what the doctor ordered. lol calm down

Course not. Companies do things to screw over their fanbases all the time and, as much as they're within their legal right to do so, it's always a bad look. You ain't gonna see me defending Hasbro's hand wringing C&Ds anytime soon. I just don't think anyone over there made creative decisions for the sake of spiting one person who doesn't even work on their franchise anymore.

Is it cheating to say all 5 of those chicks who are in practically every episode? Their hick friend seems alright though. Too bad she's just a background character. Any given fandom darling/most beloved waifu is overrated. That's the one consensus I'm seeing here. That said, "overrated" and "crappy" aren't synonyms and I'm not sure where people got the idea that they were. Most of the time, overrated characters are hyped up for a reason. I've been burnt out on a lotta the characters others have listed here before - e.g. there was no escaping the Luna worship back in the day - but there's so many new characters entering canon constantly that I could never be too annoyed with anyone's excessive popularity for long. Discussions regarding gender identity make me nervous. Feelings are always bound to get hurt because even when we're talking about cartoon horses, real people who really break gender conventions - trans people, nb people, even just gender non-conforming people - are inevitably going to see others fumble with sex/gender terminology and saying ignorant things (notice how I said "ignorant" and not "intentionally hateful". Important distinction!) Likewise, cis and gender conforming people almost never mean harm and are just going off of what they see in front of them (canon) and what they believe they know (biology that may or may not be true, as evidenced here lol). And in fandoms where everyone has strong opinions regarding their own Hot Takes, things get messy very quickly Anyway, talking about cartoons again wahoo yippee I like the idea that changelings don't have the same perception of gender as ponies because I like anything that defines changelings as being Ponies But Not Quite, especially regarding cultural attitudes. I think it'd make sense for a bunch of magic insects to have different social models, caste systems, and conventions then mammals would; like c'mon, these horseflies canonically do a lotta social stuff differently then ponies, but the line for those differences has to be drawn at sex, gender, and gender roles? lol okay Still, it's all just headcanons and (hopefully) good fun. I don't necessarily think that someone not headcanoning changelings as an nb or otherwise gender non-conforming society is wrong. Just so long as they don't get too pushy about their personal opinion, and especially so long as they don't try to assert in in ways that intentionally harm real life gender non-conforming people. That's a good rule of thumb in general though, innit? Playing pretend nicely? tl;dr thorax is an agender queen in my heart <3

Short answer: no. Long answer: nooooooooooooooooooo. Spite isn't a very good or very likely motivator in the animation industry, at least not to such a scale that it's, what, nearly every employee on a production spitting in the eye of one former employee? Maybe some people who Faust worked with did take sadistic glee in seeing her "vision" (whatever the hell that even was - we really can't know all she had planned) being turned into something else. Maybe even some hire ups got a kick outta making Twilight an alicorn because the red haired chick who used to lead the production didn't plan on it. It's all a possibility, but it's a very remote one. Petty intrapersonal drama, real or imagined, doesn't motivate how multi-million dollar toy franchise cartoon tie-ins are run. Dollar signs do. It's literally "nothing personal, just business."

I'll always have the comics to thank for introducing me to Price's body of work. His draftsmanship mixed with his sense of humor are second to none. Absolutely based and horsepilled. What a legend.

Because 4Chan. And maybe also there really is no gender imbalance at all and most Western societies just love to ogle when they see a man do or enjoy girly things. Women doing/enjoying girly things is, well, mundane. Not noticeable. Easy to overlook, even.

I think it's really cute and endearing how many people would take mementoes of their loved ones. Personally I'd bring my opposable thumbs. The ponies would have to accept me and my disquieting half-hoof half-hand appendages because their whole world is about friendliness and acceptance!

When I'm not goofing off on Fimfic or cruising Derpibooru, I'm stuck somewhere intangible and frightening. It's a blinding white all over, except for all the Pinkie Pie dolls that steadily pour out of what I guess is the ceiling. They keep giving me concussions and distracting me from my pony memes :////

Three words: ow the edge I think MLP grimdark is pretty funny. Maybe not haha funny (except when it is!) but conceptually silly. The juxtaposition between bouncy cutesy ponies and uber grotesque imagery has been done to death (no pun intended) to the point where it's probably never gonna be haha funny ever again, but it still works as a way of getting people's attention. It definitely did that back when the brony fandom was in its infancy, anyway. I don't think it's an especially poorly written or well written fic. I don't think it brings anything new to the table wrt being a horror fic and I don't believe it woulda gained any traction in the modern day, and in all honesty I think a lotta people write it off as being Objectively Trashy just to get a sweet, sweet hit of much needed copium. That said, I'm a horror fan and a gorehound. I once thought it was The Best Thing Ever when ponies were crammed into anything else I liked, and I was insecure enough that those things had to be more traditionally macho and xXhArDcOrEXx in order to overshadow the fact that I was enjoying little girls' media. MLP grimdark, SAM included, gave me what I wanted in spades. Kids, amirite? So I guess my take is the same as everyone else's except I look back on SAM with dreamy sighs of nostalgia lol. 'Sides, I could never be truly offended by something solely made to offend people for the same reason I can't laugh at a joke someone insists on explaining to me. Like, I get it man, augh ough rape and murder, no no those is bad things, ahhhh this is me screaming in pearl clutching terror. Puhleeeease.
