  1. Damn, I'm always late to the game >_< Oh well, if you ever clear that huge backlog of requests that have piled up and do happen to get to me, you can find a vector of my OC on my profile. Feel free to draw him in any pose you like This should really be in Creative Resources though, since it's a request thread.
  2. ahh why isn't it friday yet >_<

  4. These are great You sir have a serious eye for aesthetically pleasing wallpapers, thanks for sharing them! :3 If I may ask though, what font is that ("Commander Hurricane")? It looks really elegant and I would very much like to find out what it is
  5. Vector art, boring? Good effort, though. The key is to keep practicing, it doesn't matter which software you use (well actually it does, a little bit), what matters is getting the muscle memory. You'll find that every subsequent piece you draw gets easier and easier
  6. Yay Zygen, more art from you! Honestly, the fact that you're doing this in GIMP and with a mouse no doubt, is nothing short of amazing. I can understand doing vector with a mouse because I've done it myself before, but raster art with a mouse is probably the most challenging of combinations one can get in terms of art styles. (One day I gotta ask Firebolt to show me just how she pulls off clean mouse lines in SAI ) To tell you the truth, my OC had exposed hooves when I first created him, and they were grey in colour. But after a while as I drew him more I eventually covered up the hooves and got used to it. To the point where now, I never draw him with his hooves exposed at all It's really up to you though, I mean, it's his choice of personal grooming anyway You know, I'm having the same issue as you right now; I've always wondered whether to make Flashing LED an OC, or a ponysona. FL's background and character is based off me, and I like talking through him, so I guess that would make him my ponysona, but at the same time, I want to have some creative freedom with FL to make him more interesting, so in that respect he's more like an OC. I don't think I'll ever make a clear distinction though, so far I've just always been careful to refer to him as both a ponysona *and* an OC Can't wait to see the path you take
  7. If not for the forums I don't think I'll have any way of destressing after work :3

  10. It's supposed to be the colour of the hoof material underneath the coat. You're right it mostly only appears on Stallions, but not all Stallions in the show have exposed hooves leading me to believe that it is a personal grooming choice that they make whether or not to trim the coat around their hooves. Personally, I don't like to expose the hooves (even on Stallions), and so that's why I rarely, if ever, draw my OC with his hooves exposed.
  11. My OC has this to say: "I really like her mane!" Seriously though, that's some crazy adorable mane style you got there. Yeah I agree with you it's not the best, but then again for a one hour speed-draw it really isn't all that bad either. Proportions are all there, eyes are ridiculously cute, just need ta' work on the body and legs is all. Great work
  12. It's $29.99 USD on Steam right now I got Civ V during the Christmas sales on an impulse, and have only played for a bit since then as I haven't had the time to explore it much lately. However, what I can tell you is that the learning curve is certainly much gentler than the previous Civ games and there's certainly a lot more interaction available. If you do get Civ V, do spend some time in the tutorial campaign cuz its quite well done and can get you up to speed with the user interface quite quickly.
  13. Allow me to point you to this extremely well-written analysis and subsequent discussion of the alphabets of the unicorns and their related symbolism, undertaken by the talented and dedicated @SasQ. You'll find a full blown review of the letters that appear and the breakdowns of the individual glyphs as well http://mlpforums.com/topic/45522-alphabet-of-the-unicorns/
  14. Sigh, long work day is long =/

  15. What is it with young kids online and their total lack of punctuation whatsoever? I can understand noncapitalization, but how the hell do you even construct a sentence without commas and full-stops?!

Could be. Maybe they're intimidated by people who write well and that's why they avoid my friends and me.

Basic English grammar is a simple mechanical skill that can easily be mastered in a couple of weeks, and will stick with you for life. I find it painful just how many people can't be bothered to express their thoughts in coherent writing anywhere outside of an academic essay. Grammar was invented to improve communication, not academic cruft.

I once asked all my friends for all e-mails and texts to be written in proper English. Any that disobeyed got a reply asking for the message to be re-sent in English.

  16. A 3Q, or 'three quarter', profile is when the character is standing at a 45 degree angle with respect to the viewer. The picture I posted of my ponysona "Flashing LED" is an example of a 3Q profile (you can see all 4 of his legs). The ponycreator OCs are side profiles meaning they're at a 90 degree (perpendicular) with respect to the viewer (you can only see 2 of their legs). Hope that helps!

  19. Yup! Cuz Earth Ponies have to work much harder at whatever talents they might have as opposed to the other two who have it easier, and they come from humbler backgrounds too.
  20. Show-accurate plus bigsize? As a vector artist that's right up my alley So here's a 15 minute scrunged up version of my otherwise smiling OC, hastily rescribbled to make him go =O Heh. It's 2001x1835, but I can make it as big as I like cuz its a vector :3

  22. Well, my ponysona is an Earth Pony and I think I wouldn't mind that at all, because it has been shown before that their hooves can 'wrap' around objects to some extent.. so when I draw Earth Ponies as well as in my headcanon I tend to take that that creative freedom to explain away things that they're able to do, such as hold onto knobs/switches, or do simple things like depress trigger buttons and bend slightly to keep things in place. Because of their limitations though, I find that accomplishments made by Earth Ponies are more noteworthy than those by the other two types. And because they are born with so little a headstart as compared with the other two types, I find that Earth Ponies tend to be very relate-able characters.
  23. Okay I shall revise: My favourite ponies are: Twilight Sparkle, followed closely by Applejack, Fluttershy and Vinyl Scratch :D

  24. Those fuzzy ears are incredibly cute :3
