This was something that I was really looking forward to. I heard great things about the book adaptation that came before this was released, which I made sure not to spoil myself because I was looking forward to seeing it on screen. I have been enjoying the EQG Youtube series, however I have been wanting some more substantial stories from the franchise, and a 44 minute special was just what I felt was needed. My favorite parts (outside of all the Princess Twilight/Sunset Shimmer shipping fuel moments that I am quite thankful for) were: There were some great funny bits that made me chuckle throughout, and the story I felt was pretty engaging. I have to say this is one of my favorite and one of the better installments in the Equestria Girls series. I am looking forward to seeing what the next special will be like.

Hopefully this will manage to stick out compared to the 3 Christmas episodes we already got from FiM. I do find it interesting that both EQG and MLP FiM are now trying out one hour special episodes. I wonder what kind of stories this direction could lead to, I wonder.

More people would ship Startrix. What if Applejack had noticeable character development?

What if Starlight Glimmer had a competently written backstory?

Well Garble is garbage, so I can't say I would feel bad for him. If Ember were to banish him, I think I would like her a little bit more.

I can see Twilight end up really disliking Gaston.

Even if Starlight is a member of the mane cast now, it doesn't always really feel like it. I mean the amount of attention she receives in the 2 part episodes definitely makes it feel like the staff are pushing her to be a main character, yet in regular slice of life episodes, she doesn't feel like that. She is just so detached from the members of the mane 6 not named Twilight, that I really don't see them as being as good friends as the show wants us to see them as. Season 7 made me like her character, but she still really needs more personal interactions with Applejack, Pinkie, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy to make Starlight actually feel like a part of the group.

Sunset Shimmer: Let me get this straight? More like let me run this bi you. Pinkie Pie: I will make sure to pan things out. Moondancer: Let's ace-ess the situation. Thorax: I'm gay.

Yeah No... That just sounds like a total trainwreck waiting to happen.

I'll just watch other shows and check out G5 and see if I want to follow that incarnation.

Let's be perfectly honest folks, Celestia kinda sucks at defending Equestria, pretty much every villain in the show has managed to utterly defeat her in one way or another. Heck her magic was useless against the freaking Smooze of all things. So it's not like Celestia is really strong or anything. (Even if she should be stronger than portrayed in canon) her incredibly poor track record is enough for me to vote for Garnet. Plus Garnet is incredibly durable, high quality hand to hand combat skills perfected after hundreds of years, electrokinesis and electric resistance, super speed, future vision, and heat resistance (as she is able to swim in lava, and it has been confirmed that she has the ability to swim in the core of the sun and survive http://shikai-the-storyteller.tumblr.com/post/98609800488/does-garnet-use-that-little-pool-of-lava-in-the). I don't really see Celestia winning.

Not really. Rainbow Dash would still have the whole being a tomboy automatically means that she is a lesbian stereotype to go along with the whole rainbows = gay thing that would make people think that she is one in the first place. As for the whole topic on whether or not there should be queer characters in MLP, than I don't see why not. I mean the show despite supposedly being about romance, has had plenty of heterosexual relationships in it already, so I don't see why there can't be any LGBT characters or relationships in the show as well. I mean there's Mr and Mrs Cake , Shining Armor and Cadence, Cranky and Matilda, Big Mac and Sugar Belle as examples. Heck the show/EQG even has had the main characters be involved with having or being the receiving end of hetero crushes such as Twilight and Flash Sentry, Sci Twi and Timber Spruce Sunset and Flash Sentry, Spike and Rarity, Rarity and Prince Blueblood, Trenderhoof and Applejack, Rarity and Trenderhoof, and Rarity and Capper. I am pretty confidant that none of the mane 6 are going to be in same sex relationships, and I won't fool myself that there is even a slight chance for that to happen, but I wouldn't mind seeing LGBT characters in the show, even if I don't feel like that will be all too likely to happen. Right now I am really hoping that Scootaloo's queer aunts that she live with from Ponyville Mysteries: Riddle of the Rusty Horsehoe, in either season 8 or season 9.

Yeah, I can see them making a cute couple. I am a-okay with this ship.
