Do you follow the fandoms motto of 'love and tolerate'?

I don't. I'm not against it but neither do I feel it's necessary to follow it. The idea that I should respect someone by default disgusts me. You have to earn my respect.

I do believe in common courtesy and not starting shit where it doesn't need to be started but I do not love or tolerate by default. That's a status you earn from me, not something I give you for no reason whatsoever.

Just quoting Discordian's post (that matches my feelings rather closely) in order to save myself some typing lol.

You truly are the Rosa Parks of not understanding what r34 is.

Within reason, you can only really love and tolerate people if they are ready to do the same.

Celestia wasn't going to "Love & Tolerate" Chrysalis for how she acted and probably had every intention of reducing her to a charred pile of ash. :P

I try. I mean, I try to keep an open mind about things and not judge things right off the bat. I feel like I'm pretty good at seeing things from other peoples perspectives and understanding where they're coming from. It's easy to not judge what someone else is into when you yourself are into some pretty weird shit.

But I'm no saint. I'm not always as tolerant as I'd like to think I am.

To those ,including myself, who find it hard to "love and tolerate" all the time know that this is an impossible feat. There will be days when you slip up, say something mean, or generally make an ass of yourself. What is more important and arguably a part of loving and tolerating is the ability to realise you made a mistake and own up to it without a fuss. Now when you apologize or own up to a mistake you aren't owning up to the person you have done wrong to. Mainly, you should be apologizing and owning up to a mistake to yourself because you dipped below your own standards and you know you are wrong. The only person who can really hold you accountable for your actions is yourself.

I'm not a clopper, I just don't understand why people hate them so much.

Because some people feel that SOMETHING should be kept sacred. There was already a ton of r34 of Pokemon, The Simpsons, even The Flintstones! I know it's a fetish, and people who are attracted to animals should have the same rights as LGBT, but most don't approve of human porn on the web, and some of the r34 of MLP leaks out into Safe Search. The only reason why I approve of it at all is because some people don't have the artistic ability or imagination to satisfy their own desires, and r34 pony art is better than them going out to fulfill their fantasies with a rl pony.

Edit: Also, some of the haters are just getting over the fact that men like a cartoon marketed for girls (nothing wrong with that, just using hater logic), but men being sexually attracted to cartoon ponies is something that will be much harder to accept, and there will always be some who will never accept it at all.

Edit: I know people may be offended by this post, and accuse me of not being a real Brony, but I love the show, and it's characters, and the storylines, and I love parts of the fandom, so yes, I am still a Brony. There is no right/wrong way to be a Brony as long as you're a fan of the show. There's the part of me who likes to post to make friends, then there's the snarky me that will defend the show I love, because my love for the show always comes before the fandom.

Edit (Again): I have a compromise. People make their art, but don't attach the MLP name, or any MLP character names for it. People still get their freak on, and innocent people will never be in danger of seeing it. That's a good compromise, right?

Going to partially steal a South Park quote here

You tolerate the crying kid in a movie theater. You accept a person for her or his uniqueness.

Love and ACCEPT is my first approach

Love and tolerate comes after.

Love and understand next

Gesticulating puppet of rage is last

Nope.  I can tolerate people, but love is something that can't be forced.  If someone does something I can't tolerate or something like that, then I'm not even going to like them.  I think they've shown this with Discord and Maud, that you don't have to love everyone.

I follow it 54.41% of the time...

I would much rather be respected and treated courteously, than tolerated.

When's the last time someone said you were "tolerable"? Why are we using such a negative word in such an ostensibly positive manner?

Modern society gone mad.

Demagogues. Really hate 'em.

After having gotten betrayed by someone who I thought was a friend who staunchly followed this "Love and Tolerance" crap, I can't help but approach another such person with a grain of skepticism. What I need to infer is if it's coming from the heart -- the inside-out -- or is all of this being done to build an image of oneself? If it's the latter, do not trust this person because you will regret it! It just may take a while before you get stabbed in the heart. There is a specific name I give to those kinds of people: "phonies".

I do not count on bronies to act this mantra and even with those who try, I would personally have to examine if it's being done right, let alone being done for the right reasons.

I just do what I can as I am but one individual after all.

I love the motto of love and tolerate and think people should try to live by it, with a few obvious exceptions. Like you shouldn't "tolerate," as in, let happen with no opposition, things that are evil, like oppression and whatnot. It's easy to object to "love and tolerate" since all you have to say is, do you love Hitler, do you tolerate terrorism, etc. So no, the motto isn't a good one to take literally, definitely not. But is it a good one to live by so long as you understand the obvious limitations of it and when it shouldn't be taken literally, yes, I think it is a great motto.
