Why do people like Silver Spoon?

Honestly, I didn't know she had fans.

But I can understand if there were some, they may look at her differently than portrayed.

If you think hard about it, maybe Silver Spoon isn't the 'bully' she seems to be.

Maybe at a young age, Silver Spoon met Diamond Tiara, and when they became friends, Silver tried to be just like Diamond.

As they became older, Silver seen picking on other ponies as a way to become friends, because she was teased by Diamond Tiara, so that's why she seems mean, but just wants to make friends.

Sure sure, that theory may have a few holes in it, but it was a shot in the dark.

Personally, I've always seen Silver Spoon as having DT as her only friend, so by hanging out with her and picking on other ponies, she could keep Diamond Tiara happy and not lose her only 'friend'.

So many different ways you could look at this, but I don't think she's the 'bad girl' everyone sees her being. ^^

Well, spoons are a popular (and efficient!) utensil, and silver is a precious metal.  So people like spoons made of silver because...  Wait.  You mean...  The character Silver Spoon from MLP!???!  People like her??? xD

I find it really hard to believe that in the world of a show that revolves around the magic of friendship, Diamond Tiara doesn't know right vs. wrong.

Considering that Flim and Flam run around scamming ponies and Lightning Dust thought it was okay that Rainbow Dash's friends almost died to that tornado...

I'm thinking that even in Equestria, they have plenty of jerks, just like our world. Magic of Friendship notwithstanding.

Here are the reasons I love her:

1. She is adorable! I think Diamond's design may be a little over the top (and something about it just doesn't "click" with me), but Silver Spoon is adorable! Especially with those glasses.

2. I think she could have an interesting backstory, especially if there was a fanfic that was made about it (hint hint - I'm gonna probably write one soon!)

3. She does display some personality in episodes... as it often seems that she is a bit hesitant to bully the CMC until Diamond starts up. She almost seems like she's doing it in fear of losing Diamond (who is her only friend in my headcanon) so she just goes along with it.

Those are the reasons that I can think of off the top of my head. :) Now, I kinda hate Diamond Tiara, but Silver Spoon? I love her.

Oh! And her cutie mark interests me... like, I wonder what it symbolizes. She really likes spoons a lot...? XD Or could it be something more... hm...

They're jerks, yeah, but they knew that what they were doing was wrong.  That's why Flim and Flam talked AJ into not telling Granny Smith the tonic was a fake.

Silver Spoon never hesitated to bully the group whatsoever. And if she honestly feared losing Diamond Tiara as a friend over not bullying other ponies, do you really think she'd dare to take an eat Diamond's Sundae when Diamond decided to pour hers out?

Silver Spoon is, by what the show has shown, not a hesitant put-upon henchie, but a willing participant in the bullying, and pretty much Tiara's equal in their relationship.

Also, the reason she has a Silver Spoon cutie mark is that it is part of a very old and well known idiom:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_spoon

Meaning she's essentially a rich heiress with no real talent. Now tell me, who else is a rich heiress with no shown actual talent(except arguably tyrannical leadership as in Ponyville Confidential)?

Diamond Tiara.

They are meant to be of the same moral fibre. The only real difference is Diamond has some leadership skill(which might actually explain the tiara).

I don't really like Silver Spoon to be honest, but I think the reason some people do is because she mostly just plays along with DT. So they suspect that she has more personality besides just being a drone and may show more of it at some point. Who knows? :)

My point was that Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon are children as Thrash said, and using the excuse that "they live in a world full of the magic of friendship" doesn't fly because there are plenty of jerks on this show, just like the human world. I'm sure that we can compare children in our world, which do frequently have an incomplete image of right and wrong, to the children of the pony world.

Kids know right from wrong, they just don't realize the punishment that comes with them making bad choices.

That's not necessarily true though. I never said they didn't know right from wrong, like Thrash said they have an incomplete view of right and wrong. And not realizing the punishment that comes with it is a part of it. Besides, if what you're saying is true, then you're just proving that their world is like our world and that having a society that revolves around the magic of friendship doesn't really mean anything. They have jerks and bullying kinds just like our world does, and we don't have many societies where magical friendship is worshiped.

And Thrash is right, Diamond Tiara isn't completely rotten just because she's a bully. Do you think Babs Seed is still bad, even though it's explained why she bullied in the first place and she changes her ways once she realized what she was doing was wrong? Perhaps Thrash is right and Filthy Rich didn't spend much time with his daughter and spoiled her when he was around, thus making her the way she was. If, like Babs Seed, somepony was able to talk to Diamond Tiara and break down why she acts the way she does, one might find that she's just a kid with problems and isn't that bad after all.

I'm personally a fan of her, but not to an extent. Every time I see SS, I feel that she's just being mean because of Diamond Tiara. I always think to myself "why. are you hanging out with that *%)(&*$". But alas, something in the past that may have made her become friends with DT, OR she was bullied before (kinda like how Babs Seed was bullied-turned-bully) that made her this way. Just a thought, maybe.

I didn't know she was all that popular. I'm not a huge fan of hers, but I think some people probably think she's not really that mean, she just acts that way around Diamond Tiara, maybe to avoid her wrath. I also think she has a very nice design.

i actually like her much more than DT, at least she has the potential for becoming a great character, unlike DT.

diamond tiara is just your average bully character, silver spoon is,depending on what the writers are gonna do with her, either another bullying victim just going with whatwever DT says in fear of getting bullied herself.

or she could be needing DT for something.

or their parents are good friends and/or business partners.
