web What do you hate about the YouTube comments?

Oh yeah.

I forgot.

I also hate religous debates in the YouTube comments.

Usually from what I've seen, both sides of the debate don't know what the fuck they're talking about and the arguement usually ends with name-calling and hostility.

Just reading them lowers my IQ by 56%.

Even though I believe highly in free speech, YouTube comments (or any comments at the internet) almost makes me re-consider it. Most of it is random dreck, people shouting out things that doesn't have anything to do with anything, hateful insults they don't know the meaning of or shameless self-advertisement.

Appearently being gay is a perfect reason for something to have low quality. (omg tis bad, u gay)

You like MLP you say? That means you have autism, because I as an internet commenter do TOTALLY know what autism is and am totally able to diagnose someone due to a single prefence. (lol, highest level of autism, go die)

I did not like your work, but instead of giving an honest critique to point out your flaws so that you can make a better video next time, I will insult you, call you gay and say obscure things about your mother, because that will definetely help you improve your videos.

You may have a different opinion than me, but that is because you are stupid. And gay. And autistic.

And not to mention comments on videos such as Screwattack's Death Battles. Truly the one place where butthurt fanboys get to whine. And while I could admire their determination and investement in their fanbases, they don't actually make themselves look good by writing: omg, you f****ng faggots, u made fictional character X loose against fictional character Y, which is completely wrong because fictional character X is truly the best. Of reasons I won't comment here. Ur gay"

I am not even suprised by the news that PewDiePie permanently turned off the comments on his future videos. All the comments on his videos where either haters, trolls, self-promoters, people doing the "wtf, ter is ony 10 milln ppl on ert plz"  and people writing long texts that looks like parents blaming him for their children's problems, which looses all it's relevance once you realize 73 people have writting the exact same text down to each word before.

And, of course, some of PewDie's fans are no better. I can accept some people trying to promote him, but no one is going to do that when you write: "omg, tis video suck, U SHULD WATC PODIEPIE, HIS VIDOS ARE BEST!" despite the fact that PewDie himself has discourages that promotion. This generally expands to anything that is promoted, no one will take your offer when you try to rub it as hard as you can in their faces.

To end this, I would like to quote Albert Einstein: "The three most common things in the world are hydrogen, human stupidity and german panzer tanks"

I never really pay attention to the comments section anymore, so many rude and nasty people just bashing content creators for no reason isn't a very interesting read for me. I know people might not like a certian episode or person on the channel, but there has been a lot of hate in comments lately, more than usual anyway. It's kinda depressing to see people sink to such a low level of destructive criticism, especially when they THINK they are funny.

I hate how people advertise themselves on popular YouTuber's channel. Like seriously? Can't you just post videos that are good enough for you to gain fans instead of advertising yourself?

  • 5 months later...

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. the YouTube comment section is one of the most ungrateful, unpleasant, and cruel discussion sections on the entire internet. To me the comment section was only useful if you really wanted to get complements for your videos. I used to care about getting YouTube comments for that reason alone but the novelty wears off. And while you could get tons of comments from a popular video, most of them are going to be bad that you don't want to see. And the comment rating system is broken too because if a bad comment gets highly rated it causes non-stop flame wars.

I think what matters most is enjoying the videos you make. Getting lots of views and comments on YouTube seems like fun but really it's not at the end of the day. What's fun are simply sharing your own videos that you think are entertaining.

It's pretty much the cesspool of the internet. Seriously, I think it's worse than /b/

Want some guy to shout his opinion at you while calling yours "bigoted"? Go to YouTube.

Want some guy to spam "free" PSN/Xbox Live codes? Go to YouTube.

Want some guy to say that you should be euthanized for liking ponies? Go to YouTube.

It's like Detroit had a website.

I hate that you can't bludgeon a person through a youtube comment, good thing you can beat someone in real life over their stupid opinion.  All the nasty people aren't so nasty when they have to defend their opinions with their strength.

Essentially the comments themselves. This goes for any website that supports the uploading of anyone's ideas or interests and expressing themselves via video for the most part. I ignore the comment section all together because I know I will see something ridiculous. I'm a fan of constructive criticism but what we sometimes see today can  be beyond the border of blatant ignorance and complete lack of consideration for others. We know them as "trolls". People who go out of their way and get off at making other people upset.

My big issue with these folks is that I can guarantee you if we placed one of them in front of the person they were offending / being an idiot towards; they would hush up. It's because they are safely tucked away in their rooms, in front of a monitor, that they feel as though they can say anything to anyone.

I'm sure some have, but I personally haven't seen troll activity on the MLP forums. It's been very nice, like breathing fresh mountain air or listening to an intelligent person talk. ;)

For me personally, its the bronies getting flammed for something they didn't do. Which is why my videos and channel are approve only.

I was astonished when I watched the Fox News video reporting on Bronies. It was nothing but misconceptions and dislike; well they proved they obviously do not investigate anything before deciding to air it.  When is that news network being moved to Comedy Central?

What I hate most? It really varies depending on the video type.

MLP Videos - literally anything which involves ponies, merely referenced or fully fledged, the comments are FULL of flamewars which just are so so depressing to see.

Music - People who think they know everything about the genre and what's good. Claiming other artist's to be crap for one reason or another.

General - People advertising their own channels? Seriously? Need I even explain?
