The 100th episode special (which would mean episode 9 of S5) is apparently supposed to be a background pony focused episode.

I wonder if the song is one of the background ponies during that episode. 
It doesn't sound like a familiar voice after all.

I'm hoping this means Diamond Tiara is going to grow beyond her bully role and into something a bit more substantial, finally learning her lesson about bullying. By letting her grow I think it's a good sign that at least one of the CMC will be getting their cutie mark.

I am seriously hoping they do the same thing with Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara that they did with Bulk and Skull.  They start out as bullies, yes (though not very good ones, since as Linkara put it, it's obvious that any of the Rangers are capable of beating them in a fight), but they grow beyond their antics to become heroes.  And they do this without ever getting any kind of extraordinary powers.  So I would love to see something similar happen with these two (it wouldn't have to happen all at once; even Bulk and Skull took SIX SEASONS to change).

After the animatic came out, there was some debate as to whether or not the = signs meant anything or were just place markers for the real cutie marks.  Guess this is a hint as to who was right.  Expression on D's face hints this is NOT a good thing.

Yes it looks to me like someone or something is taking the ponies' cutie marks, and with them their special powers. (Notice how hard Rainbow Dash is straining to fly in that clip, and not going very fast.)

 

Of course Tirek did similar, but I have enough faith in the writers to believe that they won't simply recycle that plot line.

Found an interesting video explaining some theories about the Rainbow Dash teaser trailer.

A new villan/creature taking away the mane 6 ponies' cutie marks sounds interesting, but all we can do now is wait until season 5 comes out.

I'm bad at names, so I can't recall the name of the Vonnegut story where everyone was made equal by law.  If you were smarter than average, they made you less smart, (headphones blew a sound in your ears to distract you)  too strong, they made you carry extra weight, etc.

 

Could be this episode is aiming at something like that.  Dash being the fastest, she would have to be slowed down to Fluttershy's speed.

My thoughts exactly! After seeing this my guess is that the mane 6 will have their cutie marks turned into equal signs at some point in the episode and their talents disappear since it seems like Rainbow can't fly fast with the = cutie mark. Yay for a new clip finally!

I'd LOVE if there was one for the CMC, but I really doubt that would happen. I could see Spike having one, and maybe Celestia.

Spike doesn't have a cutie mark, which is major part of the recap's motif.

Larson said that a season 5 song will be based on the song Defying Gravity, which is from Wicked.

As to teasers from other characters than the Mane 6.  IMO, they've either got to go with minor characters or recycle.   Hmmmm.....On the one hand, they've only got Rarity left & a long time to go until Spring. How much more can they say about the Mane 6? On the other hand, would there be enough interest in the minor characters to sustain interest? 

 

Discord seems likely, the CMCs (quest for a goal in life?), Spike & maybe Luna (reformed bad guy) or Trixie (HAS she reformed, or was that just BS?).  Perhaps Celestia, although is she going to be a big enough player to hold interest?  Sunset Shimmer, although you'd have to see the movies to even know who she is.
