Reactions to Non-Pony Clothing

All I saw for public reactions was pony-related clothing, so here's one for non-pony shirts/clothing in general.

Personally, I've had two experiences.

-I went to an aquarium with my sister and when getting on the elevator, a girl around my age stopped me and said "oh my god, I love your Nightmare Before Christmas shirt!", it was fairly awkward but awesome just the same.

-And back in August when at the fair, I was wearing a (Heath Ledger) Joker shirt. And when passing by one of the game booths, the person running it grabbed a microphone and said aloud "why so serious?" in a joker-sounding voice. And when I turned and smiled, he said "Now there's a smile", I thought it was kind of awesome.  :squee:  (But everyone in the area turned towards me which was kind of awkward)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, any experiences from any of you? They don't necessarily have to be a graphic shirt, it could be a tank top or scarves, or jeans, or anything along those lines.

During my times wearing my New Order shirt, I've gotten three responses:

- At Hot Topic at Sunvalley Mall, while me and my friend was browsing through the rock band t shirts, one of the employees came up to us and said "Is that New Order?!" and then talked about regretting not going to the New Order concert that was playing not long ago.

- Later on the same day, at Whole Foods at the cash register, the cash register said "I like that shirt a lot."

- Here is the weirdest reaction. At the college I go to after getting dropped off, one of the students who was standing in one area I was about to walk past said "Holy (two swear words)! Is that New Order? I like your shirt." I didn't expect a reaction like that from a college student. Coincidentally, after class and on the way to get picked up at the same spot I got dropped off at, I saw a guy wearing a Joy Division shirt since without Joy Division, New Order wouldn't have existed.

Here is a picture of the shirt I mentioned: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41M-%2BrEzrPL._SX342_.jpg

Also, I wore a Regular Show "Haters Gonna Hate" t-shirt at a toy convention in Santa Rosa and in one of the vendors, the guy in charge of the vendor said "I like your shirt."

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

It's usually the same old "cute shirt" or stuff like that, but one of them got a lot more reactions than usual. It's likely because there was some words on the back. It was the Chesire cat from Alice in Wonderland leaning on a branch of a tree on the front, and on the back, the words: "Are you mad?" are there. People usually replied with their silly answers and then commented the shirt after. XD

I wear band shirts, and I've got a lot of positive remarks towards them. In some cases, they've made me some friends! :D

If I'm not wearing a pony shirt, I'm most likely wearing an anime-related shirt. Just the other day while I was at Barnes & Noble, a group of teenagers collectively complimented my Hetalia t-shirt and threw me the peace sign. Me, being the awkward, anti-social person I am, simply stood there in silence for a moment and waved while smiling (though it looked like I was grimacing).

Hee hee.

There was this one time I was wearing one of my usual outfits. I like to dress up with shawls, frilly shirts, and long skirts. The woman at the nail salon thought I was an Indian (not the Native American, the other type of Indian) due to my choice in clothing. I tend to get that sort of reaction from people. They think I'm foreign or "from Europe" due to certain types of outfits I wear sometimes.

Also, I once wore a pinkish fox hat and a college professor commented: "Is that a hippo on your head?" out of nowhere in the middle of a lecture. Quite amusing.

Not really, I tend to wear non-branded second-hand clothing due to the relative inexpensiveness of them. Call me a pragmatist. Though I have thought about buying some branded clothing for the novelty of it.

People only comment on my shirts if I'm wearing a Commercial Diver shirt or my company shirt. Generally, they just ask about my job and where to go to school for it.

"I could have been happy above if I'd never donned the copper carapace and dipped my head beneath the waves to hear the muddled man-made sounds. Distorted and dreamlike droning. The whir and thrashing of a distant propeller, the tumultuous thundering thud of fogbound freighters. Mud underfoot, no sights, except the grasp of a diver's trained hand, dreaming of distant lands knowing all the while this is what I love, not the blue skies and wondering faces above. Canvas, rubber, brass, copper, and glass. Leather and lead, mud and sweat, heaving around in dark, damp depths seldom seen by most yet talked about by all. As if a sunny, happy place where mermaids and seahorses play and chests of gold are lain bare, untarnished by salt and time for all to grasp who are bold enough to go below..." -"Deep Sea Diver", Steven L. This one time I was wearing my 1970's German Navy jacket and this one guy points at me through a crowd and shouts, "I LOVE YOUR JACKET"  I felt embarrassed and flattered at the same time  :muffins:.

one of the people who worked their asked me what it meant, and I proceeded to explain, in a rather awkward manner, that it was the equation for escape velocity.

When i wear my degeneration x tshirt, sometimes i get crotch chops from other ppl in passing. Which must look extremely weird to onlookers and would definitely be inappropriate and rude otherwise.

Um...let's see...I had a custom Super Smash Bros Brawl shirt made.  It has Ike on the back, and on the front it says, "You'll Get No Sympathy From Me".  (One of Ike's victory catchphrases).  You wouldn't believe how many people only saw the front and erupted with glee, yelling about how awesome that was, and how much they loved it.  I would awkwardly say, "Um...thanks, it's...um...it's Super Smash."  And then I would proceed to turn around and show them Ike, and they would usually look puzzled.  I actually stopped wearing it because I was getting attention for the wrong reasons.  People loved it, but I don't want them thinking I'm just a giant douche who has no compassion.  The truth is that Ike is just my main man in Smash!

But I usually get lots of clothing related attention nowdays because I love to wear crazy costume-like stuff.  I made my own outfit heavily modeled after Fang's garb in Final Fantasy XIII.  That one gets a lot of nice compliments.  One time I was wearing a home-made ancient Greek styled skirt modeld after Kratos's thing in God of War, and I got a very nice compliment from young female employee at the Pretzel place in the mall.  She went on in some detail about how courageous I was, and how much it inspired her and so forth.  I could tell she was really nervous and getting a tad emotional.  I was really, deeply touched, and told her so.  Being a depressed person with typically garbage self-esteem and confidence, that really meant a lot to me.  It really makes it worth it if I can reach someone like that.

When I was in school (back in the 60s) they still had a dress code.  You couldn't wear t shirts, you had to wear a dress shirt (you know, buttons, collar, you can wear a tie with them).  They had a string of cloth across the back (I guess so you could hang them from a hook? IDK)

Anyway, the point is that if you were stupid enough to wear a shirt to school that still had that strip, somebody would yell "Fruit Loop!" & tear it off you.  Half the time it would rip the shirt.

I had a PAC-MAN shirt on at the dentist once, and the dentist that was there said, "Sick shirt, man"

In my opinion, there is no such thing as "Worst Pony". Everypony is awesome in their own way, and it is what makes them truly special. :)
