How did you view my little pony prior to FIM?

I didn't think they were as girly as Barbie and Bratz dolls. I simply thought of them as nothing other than "female horses".

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

I remember being annoyed by the commercials as a kid, and I also remember using the "My Li'l Pwny" title in Modern Warfare 2. That's pretty much all I can remember.

I lived through the 80's. MLP then was some of the most stereotyped girlie fantasy crap imaginable, as far as I was concerned. Even then I thought you could find a better, stronger, more developed female character in either He-Man or G.I. Joe. I was so pleasantly surprised when I saw that MLP had been remade into FiM that the stories didn't seem to talk down to the target audience, nor anyone else watching the show (which I think is half the reason it's so widely loved).

Don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings but here is what I thought about it before FiM:

"It was a gay and retarded show for little baby girls." I hated it so much. It just wasn't for me. I disliked it like any other cartoons that was made for females. Like others, girl cartoons were very low quality before FiM.

FiM is the only cartoon for little girls so far, that holds any kind of quality to itself. I have two little sisters so I have seen a lot of garbage TV shows for females in my time thus far. I was only born in the very early 90s though so I didn't get to live through the 80s.

When i was younger,I was OBSESSED with all things my little pony. I've still got some of the old figurines somewhere. I played with them just about everyday. When FIM came out, I really wasn't interested until my friend got cancer and she always wanted to talk about it. I watched the show so I could relate to her and I got obsessed myself :)

To be honest, I'd never actually heard of MLP before FIM. I knew of it but i had never actually seen it before, As such, i only saw it as another fad for girls. In fact, the only reason i started to watch the show was because of Discord and his awesome design!.

My little Pony: FiM ponies look NOTHING like actual ponies :P Well, talking about details...

My little pony before tried to look more realistic, and old, and i think thats why i dont like it.

It's true that FiM don't look much like ponies, but I don't know that I'd say that any of the generations ever did. They've all been very cartoony.

I remember seeing advertisements for the previous generations. Back then, I didn't care about it and just thought it was just a stupid girly franchise.

I guess I never had a proper opinion back as a kid, but now that I can compare them I'd say this show is way more colorful and energic, the characters are more alive and of course, the animation is way better.
Even back then I was a sucker for shows and animated movies with small lines and quick animation with a whole load of awesome expressions, otherwise I lost interest. So for the old mlp's I used to like it, but I never felt like I had a burning interest in the show thanks to the boring animation, not much happened, way too much talking of things I didn't get and so on.

I hope this made any kind of sense haha!

No opinion to be honest, my younger sister never had any girl toys, not even Barbie, she was very much a tomboy. While I was aware of My Little Pony, I felt it was for girls, nevertheless, all three of us, my brother, sister and me typically played video games together, so none of us really had any boy or girl toys, nor did we ever think about them, we had gender neutral toys and games, as for the generation one show, I never knew it existed, for we were a Care Bear family, we had dozens of Care Bears, and we watched them on the TV, however, back in eighties it was marketed to girls and boys, so we never saw a gender divide, generation four was the first time I ever had any experience with anything marketed primarily for young girls, although the flexibility of Friendship is Magic, has expanded to include people from my generation.

Tales is a late-G1 cartoon, actually. G2 was solely a (short-lived) toy line from the late 90s. They looked like this:

Might not be a mere coincidence!

They have very pretty colors, but I'm really not a big fan of the G2 design overall. =( Maybe they could be an acquired taste...

i pretty much didn´t pay attention to it.

i watched some of the cartoons as a kid, found them horrible, and so did everyone else.

MLP kind of became the "ultimate crappy 5-year-old-girl´s show",.

Well, at least till FiM arrrived, and you know the rest.
