I don't really think it made sense. Yes, she fussed with her bangs a lot, but that was more of a minor quirk than anything. And in her FF comic, a running gag had her RUNNING AWAY from a hairdresser.

Since we only had two episodes to get to know Babs (and in one she was characterized hiding her real personality for most of it), anything really makes sense for her. I bought it instantly.

But yeah, I can buy it, but the problem with Babs is that we know so little about her. Plus I think it fits just fine with the IDW canon as even though she ran away from the hairdresser; that doesn't preclude her eventually becoming one.

That's just because he was trying to mess with her hair. She actually did show interest in the roller derby ponies' hair, and seemed to be interested in other hair styles like those.

In fact, that was what the author was hinting at. On Twitter he implied that he had foreknowledge of Babs' cutie mark.

Comic authors have early access to plot points from the next season, don't they? That gives them the opportunity to hint at things like this. And considering that panel, Babs' cutie mark makes perfect sense.

 

They have noted that they are occasionally clued in and sometimes they are not. A Discord Fiendship comic was summarily rejected by Hasbro for example, and the comic staff were told why exactly, though it is speculated that Discords past is a focus of an episode. In the case of Babs they could have known in advance.

Since I am not caught up with the comics just yet, I felt like her Cutie Mark was kinda....out of place. In the two episodes that she was on, we never got any clues on her ever being interested in cutting or styling hair. Plus, I really hate how we did not get to see this happen. I know the voice actress is not on board with the show anymore, hence why we saw no Babs in S4, but at the very least they should have showed maybe letters from her throughout season 4 that hinted at this. To me, it was just out of nowhere and it was the one little aspect of Bloom and Gloom that bothered me.

 

I thought Babs was an awesome character and that ship was basically sunk. :c

She always blows her hair out of the way. I know it's just because it's long and whatnot, but I guess in that way it kind of makes sense that she's a hair stylist? I dunno.

 

But yeah we have very little on her personality and Manehattan is where she resides and stuff. So I think it makes sense. We're bound to see her this season though. (I feel like we should anyway) We could get more info in that regard.

Hmm... Well, Babs Seed shouldn't have a scissors cutie mark. Maybe an Apple seed, but not scissors.

 

The only way I could actually see her having a scissors cutie mark is based from her mane. Babs' mane seems to constantly be in her eyes so perhaps, she may have gotten rid of that over the time we saw her last, but if Hasbro puts her in any new episodes, then I imagine that she will have the same exact manestyle.
