Should i get the bunker? Because i cramed it out alot of tiimes in the last 4 years and the fandom still stands.

It still lived after Derpygate, it still lived after Alicorn Twilight, it still lived after Equestria Girls, etc.

Those doomposts are nothing worth anymore.

2011 Brony? Don't forget about Lauren Faust leaving shortly before season 2 which made many panic about quality of show.

It's not bronies fault that Hasbro is changing the show. The adult fanbase (there are a considerable number of adult and adolecent females as well as males that enjoy the show) is larger than the young... (cont.).

(I further apologize if I miss anything, when people don't use paragraphs or bulletin points to discuss lengthy topics, my mind goes off. Yet I can type like an essay about something yet I can't read it.. darn reading comprehension. :()

NSFW in the brony fandom is obscure. You have to actually look purposely look up pokemon r34 to come across pornographic results, whereas even just typing a pony's name from the show and going on google images you see suggestive content and recommendations of pornography. (Yet again I don't play Pokemon, don't watch anything of the series, let alone am I not involved in the fandom, so if I'm wrong I apologize, so instead I'm going to use a different example.)

Kind of reminds me how someone brought up Disney and tried to use excuses as, "uwu But there's also r34 of Disney characters!! Why does nobody address that?" because when you look up Pocahontas, you don't see her flashing or see her in suggestive content unless that is if purposely searched as "disney r34/rule 34/etc." I'm well aware what r34 is, it's just that the brony fandom takes it up like, 11,2183 notches and decides to ruin the whole show with gross pornographic content. Especially when pedophiliac content is involved, it further shines a bad light upon the fandom.

Ah yes, capit- I mean uh.. Companies.. overall are gross to be quite honest, which isn't the fault of the fanbase in general, yet if you contribute to them you're also a problem. Not the primary problem, but you're definitely one of issues if you contribute to such mess. Bronies can only blame themselves for whatever trouble they cause.. so saying that this isn't at all the fandom's fault is one of the hugest lies ever told, if anything they're the main issue when it comes to pornography of the show. It's not like Hasbro says, "lol hey who wants to draw some clop?" nah, it's the fandom doing that. It's the fandom which enforces gross stuff and makes others feel embarrassed and have to pay for the price bronies threw out there.

I really don't care in general if people enjoy that content :P but to say that it's no harm to community is a huge lie. Like, literally the highest of the lies. It's one of those things which is a must to keep calm of or on the down low, unfortunately there's plentiful of people who enjoy clop and.. it's just.. yikes!

(Again I'm sorry if I screwed up with the response or left some things out, poor reading comprehension, ADHD, you know.)

I may get some hate for this, but I didn't like the first season and only started really liking the show near the middle of season two. I think everything got better in season 3 and 4.

He's entitled to his own opinions.  The problem is that he does a poor job of justifying his opinions without resorting to stereotypes.  I noticed the tenor of his Cutie Map Review was similar.  This is all on him, not the fandom.  This rage quit drama is a little entertaining nonetheless.

He did remind me that Baja Blast is back in cans so I guess I can thank him for that.

The fandom dying? I'm still pretty new and it sure doesn't seem dead to me, in fact aren't I proof that there is still life here? A fandom can really only be dead if no new people join and all the old fans all leave.

The fandom used to be more active, contributing more with fan games, fan music and animation ( latter is mainly because of many cease and desist order though), but from what what I see, the claims of the fandom dying are more freakouts rather than fact

Whoah, I left for one hour and this thread already has 7 pages?  :o , it probably be colsed soon  -_-

I've gotta ask, why is this a big deal? This happens all the time (seriously, this fandom is full of drama queens). Unless... wait, Tommy Oliver, wasn't he one of the Power Rangers?

Ah yes, remember all those RIP fandom posts once alicorn Twilight was announced? Good times.

I thought concept of it was ridiculous when rumours of it circulated from around early season 3. I first hated alicorn Twilight but eventually became fine with it along with majority of Brony fandom (though some Bronies supposedly claim that unicorn Twilight died while clone alicorn Twilight spawned as learned from I think Hypnosparkle but may possibly have been from another member who had Twilight avatar). 404 Fandom doomsday not found.

Oh yeah, that aswell. I was just a few weeks in, but i could already feel it.

I will admit being among those who were concerned about show's quality after beginning of season 2 when I first heard the news. But clearly team of MLPFIM was fine on their own. I wouldn't even consider season 1 as my favourite though do get most nostalgic from it. All fandom doomsday predictions afterwards I didn't take seriously.

I may get some hate for this, but I didn't like the first season and only started really liking the show near the middle of season two. I think everything got better in season 3 and 4.

I also think it got generally better as seasons went on so you're not alone with that opinion.

Yeah, i said that once. It's really just denial and hiding himself behind his fanons and headcanons. You either accept that Twilight is an Alicorn (liking it or hating it, dosen't matter) or you just leave.

I also have very nostalgic feelings to Season 2 and it was my favorite season till season 4 came and 5 might even to that season. Being 4 years in this fandom is a long time and the feeling for the fandom can shift, but i still have the same enjoyment for the show and the fandom, that i had 4 years ago.

Four years. I'll say that I'm no longer as excited about MLPFIM and Brony fandom now compared to 2011-2012, but I'm still fairly content to be in it, still impressed by many things outputted by the fandom, and still enjoying the show (OOOH!!! moments still happen for me when watching new episodes sometimes). I suppose I really miss the feeling of newness. Also the fact that I've been part of the fandom for almost half decade makes me feel older than I probably should.

The experience of finding this fandom, is probably one of the greatest experiences i ever had. The problem that most bronies have, is that they want this feeling back, but it simply won't. The feeling was gone to me after 3 months, but i accepted that because i had this feeling a few times in my life. The feeling for this fandom is still strong for me, because i found nice people to talk with, i found friends in real life, but most important of all, i found someone that i can share my love with.

This fandom has given me so much and i am eternally greatful for it.

No, I think it did exist at some point---back when the fandom was still fairly small and the show had not yet hit its stride.

Nope. The love and tolerance thing was made back when the fandom was small BUT the snag is that it was made to piss people off.

The early fandom was on 4chan, and they'd annoy other users by shitposting ponies everywhere, and then ignore everything by talking about love and tolerance. /b/ is hardly a kind or tolerant place >.<

I find it very interesting that this news comes not long after this thread posted on here about fans having unrealistic expectations of the fandom. Ladies and gentlemen this guy is one of the most glaringly obvious examples of that I have ever seen. I am not saying he dosen't have a point on certain things but that point gets completely lost at the sheer amount of generalizing and "good old days" bias as if he expects the fandom to always be the same as it was early on. There are some bronies that behave exactly like he just described be I don't really see how he is much better and the brony fandom isn't exactly unique for having some jerks in it.

I can understand leaving due to losing interest in the show or something but this guy is just a smug asshole who expects everyone to abide by his standards while not practicing what he preaches. I can understand getting annoyed and pissed at certain parts of the fandom, I haven't made it a secret how much I detest the fans that are trying to make this a damn religion and the white knights. And of course jackasses and trolls aren't fun to deal with but did he seriously expect that there wouldn't be any of that in the brony fandom at all when no matter how good something else there will always be people like that? If so than nothing will possibly ever please or satisfy him for long.

There's also plentiful of pornography from the show that you can't safely search things like applebloom without most recent research such as "applebloom r34" appearing, or suggestive images of the filly. Guys, she's a minor-- A MINOR.

And the brony fandom is unique in this how exactly? I can understand the frustration in finding out the hard way that google "safe search" isn't really safe but I just thought I would point out that derpibooru, deviantart and fimfiction are great places to find pony stuff with effective mature filters. And Hasbro isn't just doing fanservice for bronies, I don't think they had bronies in mind with twilicorn for example. Yes there are examples of them catering to bronies but the question I must ask is what is wrong with that? Pleasing one group of fans every now and then dosen't automatically mean you are throwing the others under the bus.

Implying you need to like the show in order to be a part of this community. I'm gonna be honest, i never really cared for the show. its not bad, but i find fan fictions and fan comics of the show more appealing to me. Plus I like this community.

That probably doesnt make any sense, does it?

People have all sorts of reasons for being here and while yours isn't the most common you are not the first I have heard be here for that sort of reason. Even before I became a brony I respected bronies due to the sheer amount of creativity I have seen come out of it and some of that has helped re awaken my own creative side by getting into fanfic writing.

The show definitely isn't what it used to be, and I'll admit that the fandom isn't either. I still remain pretty dang loyal to it through and through. I'll probably remain in the fandom after MLP gets cancelled (which it eventually will). These things just evolve over time. That's how everything works. And if this is a sinking ship, I'll gladly go down with it.

Here's the problem I do have with Tommy Oliver: he handled this horribly. I didn't expect him to go this way. For someone so analytical, it seems like he would have handled it with more grace.

I get that we need the Analysis Community to hold the writers up to a higher standard. The bar was set pretty high from the get-go. We've come to expect high quality writing and production because we know this show is capable of it. Nevertheless, I've never devoted too much of my time to the analysis community because I've always held the idea that you should have your own opinions. This is where I do have to kind of agree with Tommy that people are looking for a parrot. But you know what? That's just a normal human characteristic. We actively seek those who share in our opinions. That is because we feel like something is more acceptable when there are others doing it. The fandom continues to grow each day and there are plenty of new bronies compared to a couple years ago. As a fan for 3 years at this point, I have seen this fandom grow exponentially. There are probably those who are new into it, and when they see someone disagreeing with them about something on the show, they probably get a little upset.

But yeah, like I said, I've always held that you should watch an episode and form your own opinions. Hell, I've always held that you should form your own opinions in everything. I was once dumped by some girl because she told me about something she read in some book and that pissed me off more than the actual act of being dumped. Do something, and do it for your own reasons.

I only ever went to the Analysis Community because I wanted further insight on something. Maybe I wanted to know what the Analysis Community thought about an episode. Shit, sometimes I sought a dissenting opinion. Perhaps I liked an episode, but I thought there were a load of flaws. And no, my fanboyism doesn't cloud the fact that there are flaws in everything. I love Honda cars. Do I believe they are the ideal car to own? No. My Honda - though brand new - has a few things I detest about it. I love My Little Pony. Do I believe it is the greatest show to ever grace God's green earth? Hell no. Friends was way better. I fucking love Friends. And not even Friends is perfect.

I thought a move like this was below Tommy though. I expected a much more graceful goodbye than that.

Oh well. Good luck in your future endeavors, Tommy.

perhaps that also is an issue to be concerned about. Perhaps the fandom is / has been declining with their quality of fanworks, and will worsen once the show ends. There's a lot of sub-par quality fanworks that don't have passion and strive for greatness out there. This was adressed soon after the "lullaby for a princess" animation came out, only recently. That fanworks like that should be the standard, rather the exception- because that had passion and devotion put into it, and it showed. Again, this issue was addressed in someone's YT vlog response to Tommy Oliver's recent MLP fandom commentary. So it's not just me who sees the decline of quality and passion in fandom fanworks, alongside the intolerance to addressed negativity about the episodes of the show itself, from within their own fandom.

Fandom is currently stagnant. It lost its momentum.

Now the question is, will stay stagnant or begin to decline?

I'll put this here, which makes a good point.

I do agree some fans do attack the analyzer pretty heavily for his opinion on an episode, but that can be a good thing as it provides conversation, a means to get things humming along. Analyzers need to accept they'll get negative responses; use that to your advantage make them discuss it; so not shy away from negativity; embrace it.

Avoiding it only makes it uninteresting and fans need to accept others views for what they are, opinions.

I'm glad that he directed some of this towards people who cannot take any negative comments towards the show or their favorite characters. Why? Well because it's true. Oh so many fans just cannot accept that their favorite character or episode has flaws.

I expect more criticism from reviewers, if anything, after this
