I'm sure lots of us have played the oh-so popular Nintendo crossover fighter, Super Smash Bros., in some way shape or form. And, I'd like to ask, if you have, which installment of the series is your favorite? My personal favorite is the newest release, Smash 4 for Wii U and 3DS. Which is your favorite (and if you say Super Smash Flash, I'll virtually smash you :P )

super smash flash xdd

It used to be SSBM, but after playing SSB4 (the 3DS version at least), I have to say SSB4 overtakes it. I like the characters, plus it overall feels the most epic.

The only SSB game I don't really care for though is SSB64, although I haven't played Brawl yet. I feel SSB64 didn't age well, and it feels rather clunky to play.

Project M is pretty much my favorite out of the five. My reason for this? Well, the creators actually have the competitive community in mind while making it and actually make good balancing decisions. And it's overall a really fun game/mod.

Brawl and SSB4 are my favourites. Brawl feels very grand and has many fun things to offer, from Subspace Emissary to Boss Battles. I'm also fond of it since it's one of my very first Wii games, so it does bring fun memories. SSB4 is tonnes of fun for its great character roster, it's interesting stages and its new and unique features like Master/Crazy Orders. It also feels like a polished and clean game thanks to the the colourful visuals tot he nice music. But if I were to pick one, I prefer SSB4.

SSB64 is fun, but is rather outdated, and I don't really care for SSBM all that much.

Man, I don't know. All of them have things to love about them (I haven't played Melee or Project M tho). But if I had to pick one, it'd be Smash 4.

I heard Project M is good, I need to try getting it sometime. I also really want to play Melee, but I doubt that'll happen anytime soon.

I think that should just about cover it.... But that's only because it's the one I play most often.

I actually want to play more Smash 64 because I've only gotten to play it a few times. If I actually owned it, it may be my favorite over melee X3

This is a tough choice between Melee and Smash for 3DS. I think Melee has the better overall features because of the sheer amount of match types you can have, that made it very replayable while Smash 4 I think has the best character roster and he best stage selection. Wario Ware Inc. For the win! :D Also it is portable and for that, it is pretty awesome. :3

I have to go with Smash 4 on 3DS, with Melee at a very close second.

Melee, Brawl and Smash 3DS/Wii U all have merits. Melee's probably the most fined-tuned in the series has far as fighting goes. I like Brawl's attempt at good single-player content(even if SSE was underwhelming) and had some of my most favorite characters in Smash(Snake and Wolf). I love 3DS's portability and Wii U has some of the most impressive amount of content I've seen in a game(though they still got rid of Snake and Wolf, and Smash Tour sucks balls)

But if I had to pick, Wii U barely makes the top

Melee is an amazing game, but my favorite has become Smash 4. I mean, it has Shulk and Link is really good for once... :squee:

As for the others, Smash 64 was a good start but U haven't played it eons, and Brawl while not the best competitively it was still a great single-player experience(and it had Snake). :)

Melee was the one I grew up with and spent the most time playing, so I have the most fondness for it. I only played very little of the N64 title. Brawl was good, but for whatever reason I didn't enjoy it as much as Melee. Smash 4 feels the most balanced of them (not a pro player here, so I'm probably wrong) but I've only played the 3DS version, and the content is a bit bare bones compared to other games. Seriously, where's my tourney mode? :P

Either Super Smash Bros. 4 or Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

4 seems the best in terms of character selection and quality but I have really fond memories of playing Brawl with friends and family. Melee was alright and 64 kind of sucks.

I literally just came back from beating master and crazy hand on intense Mose with SSBB. Super Smash Bros Brawl all da way for the win!!

Wait, that's possible? Out of the six years I've been playing this game I never knew that you could fight both of them. I really need to do this now.

Beat classic mode on hard difficulty in under like 10 mins or so and you get to fight them at the end. If you die and continue you only get to fight master hand so don't lose all your lives!

This is a really tough decision because what I think the main form of play is should be the vs mode and if that is the focus of the game then I think the more characters and abilities you have, the better the game is. Therefore it has too be Melee for me. Melee is the one I played with the most characters and game modes to date, so I think that can be called a winner.

Melee is my favourite and has been since the day I first played it. I've played and currently own all of the Smash games, apart from the Wii U one.

  • 3 years later...

Super Smash Bros. 4 takes my vote, as it has the most polish out of all the games in the franchise, as well as the most fun. Not to mention the insane character roster, only being trumped by the upcoming game in the franchise.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.
