Rainbow Dash's Gender

Rainbow Dash stomps on gender roles. The whole show opposes gender roles and practically makes a mockery out of them, by showing that you can have 6 female characters with completely distinct personalities and interests, and they're all great friends.

When i first started watching the show the voice threw me off with its raspiness. So while the voice indicated small male child once they assigned gender roles its speech i just learned to role with the waves. The personality to me is normal since i have a Girl Friend who goes Long boarding, kayaking,Motorcycle Riding, and human darts. From my experience anything is acceptable for a girl to do as long as they feel comfortable doing it.

No matter how a woman behaves, or what she likes, she's acting like a woman, because she is a woman, and she's just acting like herself.  Likewise for a man.  No matter what I do, I'm acting like a man, because I am one.  This is no different for the ponies.  There is no one way to be a male, a female, a person, or a pony.  That's what this show demonstrates, and that's why it's so great.  (I think it would be cool if Rarity had a male friend who was a total fashionista and stuff, just to stomp gender roles in the other direction, too.)

I think that she's female, but lesbian.

Her sexual orientation cannot be determined either way due to the fact that sexuality is absent from on-screen activity. It is a children's television show.

What do you think about Applejack? She's athletic, loves to compete, doesn't care how she looks, she's strong, doesn't cry much and likes to take on challenging tasks by herself. To me she's more boyish than RD but she is absolutely female.

Yup yup. And to assume her sexuality based upon behavior is to stereotype lesbians.

Rainbow Dash doesn't have a gender. Rainbow Dash is a series of colors and light patterns assembled in a shape our minds interpret as a pony and therefore is an inanimate object which is without a gender distinction.  Got to love technical/literal answer

ssshhhhh....unless you want to be sent to the moon... :sunbutt:

Calm down please. >_>  There's nothing wrong with her having a sexuality.  :squee:
