They'll most likely greenlit a season 7 based on season 6, I'm just counterarguing the semi-popular notion that they would design and write the movie as a show-closer, since if it's a huge success (and considering that they're going to open it world-wide, they seem to not be fooling around) they'd want to have the option to continue onward.

I know people would dislike if the show ended because of declining popularity and possibly declining quality, and would rather it ended in a big, show-wrapping finale, but there's no way for us to tell whether or not the next season is going to be awesome. And until such a time when I find that pony has started to generally decline in quality, I will continue to wish for more pony.

Assuming pony will stay successful and excellent for the next two seasons, what I really think Hasbro is wondering about is if G4 will grow stale in terms of toys, and whether or not it's time for G5. And the movie will probably largely decide that. If it's a hit, it will cause a surge in G4, and they'll want to continue it. If not, they'll probably order a final season to wrap it up, and then get to work on the future of the brand.

I think we both know that it isn't about fairness.

AKR has left for Disney yes, which is sad, but as long as you get new talented people, it can continue. Haven't heard that M. A. Larson or Megan McCarthy are supposed to leave the show, even if he wants to write more books and she has a new job title. Head of storyboard sounds still pretty involved with the show.

Lauren left the show after season 2, and people cried havoc, but as long as the people who take over are talented, the world won't end.

But Megan won't have the time entirely for ponies anymore. She has to take care of shows like littlest pet shop, strawberry shortcakes, etc. MLP will probably be done on the site now, so a Executive needs to step up on the plate.

AKR, Larson and Mccarthy are in my eyes the 3 most talented writers on the show and where there since the very beginning. I don't wanna scream doom and gloom, but the other writers are more or less hit or miss.

Well, to me it just seems likely that if things are left up to the movie's success they might make a G5 but continue FIM in movie form, like how transformers movies are in a different continuity from the Transformers cartoon series, or how DBZ is continuing in movie form atm.

I guess that's an option too, but again, if the show is still going strong, why kill it?

I think season 5 is a turning point in the franchise.  I think they're preparing to move beyond the Mane 6 and the CMC and open up the world (and brand) more.  Maybe G4 ends after the movie, but I think Hasbro wants to continue banking on Bronies in the future with G5 or whatnot.  The end of G4 is not necessarily the end of pony.

In fact the end of G4 cannot be the end of pony because they didnt give up ponies int he darkest of times, if anything they are prepared for pony after G4 more than ever.

Perhaps I should rephrase it by saying the end of G4 does not necessarily mean the end of good pony cartoons.

They are, and I would be sad to see them go, if that's actually going to be the case for Larson and Meghan. Still, I would like to see an interview or something where they talk about that stuff before I start drinking away my sorrow.

Since you implied that Rarity only grew this season, she can obviously develop more according to your logic.

Also, a CMC Rarity episode would be nice. We have the CMC episodes with Applejack and Rainbow Dash. I know they have their cutie marks, but they are still the Cutie Mark Crusaders and can continue having episodes.

In fact, something I wanted for a long time: Rarity and Pinkie Pie. They are definately friends, but the only episode we saw them together was a Fluttershy episode.

Also, I want more information on the past of the Mane Six. Maybe how they became friends.

Also, Princess Celestia needs development.

Twilight and Rarity episode would be nice. We rarely get any interaction between those two except Rarity flirting with Twilight or trying to make her feel better. At the beginning of the show, they were both unicorns. I want an episode about them two. Maybe one set in Canterlot?

Rarity, Fluttershy, Applejack all need birthdays.

There is still a lot they can do with the show.

What's up with all these "zomg the end is neigh" threads?

OMG YES! I've seen a bunch of threads claiming the show is going to end soon. This will probably be the last "the end is neigh" thread I will comment on for a while, just becuase most of them are the basically the same thread, but with different names.

All these threads are popping up because some people feel as though it's ending soon. Including me...well....I mostly think itll end at Season 7 maybe, but it happens. Just like how there are multiple CMC discussions, and thousands of other threads that expresses similar concerns, predictions, reviews, etc. I don't see why this is a surprise

So much doom and gloom lately. Why is everyone so scared all of a sudden about this? Even if the show is starting to wrap up some character arcs, we still have at minimum another two years of pony to look forward to and that is if they end it with the 2017 movie, which they may not. We don't know for certain yet. We need to just enjoy it all as it happens and not think about the possible end in the future. ^_____^ The CMC's getting their Cutie Marks is the end of that chapter for them, but it also is the beginning of a totally new one, the journey to help other ponies figure out who they are. :D That sounds awesome and I am looking forward to it. :)

Oh I'm not scared at all if the series end soon or not. As I said, if Hasbros can pull it off, go for it. If they DO end it soon, I can't wait to see the finale that will end G4. Either way, I'm looking forward to it.

Mrrr....I bet there will be an episode where they help Pip find his cutiemark.

I've said it before, I'll say it again

Season 6 will tell the tale.

If it is 13 episodes then I'd say 99+% probability that is the last season.  If it is 26 episodes it is likely there will be a season 7 & a season 8 (195 episodes total).  Season 8 would be in the 2018 - 2019 season & take us to the end of the decade.

Still, whenever the show ends IMO there will likely be direct to DVD releases.  Scooby Do & Tinkerbelle did it, MLP can do it too.

I think it was confirmed that season 6 will have 26 episodes. Maybe it was a dream, though.

The original date was set for season 9 to be the end, but I guess I would be ok if it was done on a 7.

The Brand is supposed to end in 2019, not the series. The Brand is not exclusive to the show and for all we know, they might make reruns in 2017 after the movie, while still selling their toys for another 2 years. That's actually a very cheap way to make money.

I'm pretty sure they knew each other before the pilot. Rainbow and Fluttershy were friends.

Those were the only ones to really know each other, and that was mostly because they both originally lived in Cloudsdale, and the incident we saw in The Cutie Mark Chronicles. Point is, I don't think there's a ton of story there.

Season 6 has been confirmed for 26 episode.

It has been a good ride so far but there is still plenty of pony to go. Just because one reaches a milestone within the show does not necessarily mean it is the endgame, but rather it is more of the continuation of the journey of said character.

Now Season 6 might be the last season, but the matter is still left to Hasbro to decide for the time being as they could very well continue it as long it remains highly profitable.

And yes the brand has been confirmed to be planned on running through 2019, and that is a separate concept from the show.

Might as well enjoy the moment and take it one step at a time instead.

Hasbro made a public statement late 2014/early 2015 that they'd be continuing the FiM brand for at least another five years ( which was on EQD back during the time). Assuming they make new episodes for as long or nearly as long as the brand lasts, that's eight or nine seasons, not six or seven.  :sunbutt:

They made that statement like.... one and a half year, correct? If that statement is correct, we still got 3.5 years of poneh at least, and that's past the pony movie in 2017  . But then again, I'm don't see the future, those plans might not be realized, or they might change the focus of G4. Just because they have 5 more years for G4, doesn't mean they'll keep using the same characters, they might make a spin off show to sell more toys, or a timeskip with teenaged CMCs or something

I don't see the reason to start throwing funerals for the show right now. Nothing is confirmed and there's still a good 33 episodes to be aired, a possible season 7, more equestria girls, and a movie. I say we should all save our tributes for 2018.

No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.

Season 5 is definitely firing on all cylinders that's for sure. I don't see any signs of the show ending soon. Even though we've got two movies to look forward too, that doesn't mean those movies will wrap the series up. Heck, they might just open up new arcs!

All good things must come to an end at one point or another. I mean Hasbro is making tons of money and I would imagine, that they will make a generation five, which might be just as good. But, if not I think there is one thing that won't die....and that's our fandom. I think after the show ends, there will still be conventions, there will still be fanfics, there will still be you tube video's. there will still be the Brony community, I think long after the show ends. There will be a few that jump ship and what not. But, I think there will still be Brony Con's and all of that stuff,

The CMC receiving their marks was done in a horribly rushed and disappointing manner. It wasn't treated like any big event, and was more or less brushed off as something that was tedious, annoying, and had to be done eventually. That isn't even mentioning the fact that the marks themselves were incredibly redundant.

They are definitely rushing to a close at this point - I would be surprised if we are all singing "Series Wrap-up" in a few months.

Oh God, I wish you could've seen my other discussion about that episode. You're basically saying my thoughts for sure hut many others disagreed.

But hey, let's wait and see what Hasbros has in store for us
