Favorite villain/antagonist so far?

   King Sombra. He took an entire kingdom by force, enslaved all of its inhabitants, and turned it into a living hell. Not to mention he is also based off of King Sauron, who is literally the embodiment of evil of the Lord of the Rings trilogy (thus us being able to assume that Sombra is the embodiment of evil of the MLPverse).

 

   In fact, he is the only evil "villain." In fact, the other villains aren't even villains. They are just antagonists on a much larger scale. Yes, they wanted control, but none of them were evil. Nightmare Moon was a wronged, saddened mare on the inside, Discord is basically a guy trying to have fun and do what he was created to do, and Chrysalis is just trying to feed her subjects. Sombra, however, strikes fear into ponies and bonds them in chains, and thoroughly enjoys it.

 

   EDIT: I forgot about Sunset Shimmer. That should tell you something regarding my opinion of her, and the topic at hand.

Discord: he's great - but he's not a "pure" villain any longer. Yes, I'm sure he's still got a lot of naughtiness in him, and I'm sure we'll see it in the future (I hope!), but the dude has at least a little bit of a heart.

 

So then, it comes down to King Sombra and Chrysalis. Meghan McCarthy says Sombra is dead, and he had like five lines. Chrysalis looks like an alicorn (or anypony she wants to), possessively caresses her enemies' faces, leads an army that devours love...and sings. Advantage: the bad girl.

It's obvious that I'm the best villain, but unfortunately I can't vote for myself since I'm not an MLP villain.

 

So I'm going with Tirek. Yup the guy from G1, he was such a frightening powerhouse and the show then did a really good job of showing it, it's no wonder fans want to see him again

Discord and Flim Flam brothers. Discord is just funny as hell and the flim flam brothers, well I just like the character design and their personalities in general, and the song is pretty cool.

Nightmare moon is also rumoured to maybe possibly be comming back !

 

And the diamond dog's because they where so much fun and the episode they where featured in was really good ! Hopefully they will return at some point, loved there voicing and all

Hahaha Very true, but when you think about Sombre being something to represent depression, and have the 2 episodes centred around that, I thought he was pritty cool !

 

He felt menacing all the way through the episodes even if he did lack character development!

Discord: 3/4.
Queen Chrysalis: 2/4.

I think the best villain is Discord.

 

I mean, the way he did things in the Return of Harmony really struck a bad chord with me, and as much as I wanted to look away, I had to keep watching as he manipulated the mane 6 into turning against each other. I mean, I think the fact he did all of his fighting psychologically rather than physically made him that much better of a villain, because it just was so much harder to watch.

 

Plus, as much as I love her, I always found Nightmare Moon/Luna to be a bit overrated.

 

I think they're all really good though, don't get me wrong.

Discord and Trixie are my favorite ex-villains, because they had something about them that stuck out to me in a good way. So, that's my take on these two great villains. All of the villains are good in my opinion.

Since, Discord and Sunset Shimmer are no longer villains anymore I would say that Chrysalis is currently my favorite villain so far.

1. Sombra=He doesn't use brute strength like Sunset, Discord, Chrysalis, or Nightmare Moon, he uses manipulation of your fears and horrors.

2.Sunset Shimmer=One of the better villain designs and she spent no time screwing around, she tried to kill Twilight as soon as she could

3.Queen Chrysalis=Really good but very arrogant to the point of stupidity

4. Discord=Way too arrogant and stupid. How did he not notice that the Mane 6 weren't gray anymore? He could've killed all the Mane 6 with a snap of his fingers but squandered it.

5.Nightmare Moon=Most cliche villain ever. The neglected sibling who turns evil and then reforms in seconds. Also very lazy as her traps were pathetic. Would it really take that much time to teleport to the Mane 6 and kill them? No, instead she cuts mustaches and makes trees look scary.

I liked Nightmare Moon. She came the closest to winning by effectively taking out Celestia the moment she returned and plunged Equestria into darkness for about half a day. If she had actually taken the Mane 6 as a threat and didn't toy with them the way she did, her reign would have been eternal (unless Discord returned)

I love Nightmare Moon. She's just amazing, and she has that pure evilness, I love in antagonists. I'm very fond of Luna in general, so that might be the reason for me loving her evil counterpart this much as well. But yeah... she's one of a kind! <3

 

Out of major villains, Discord comes to close second, though. He's so fun, and I actually feel sorry for him during Return of Harmony. I actually tend to like some of his changes... *cough*chocolatemilkrain*cough*

 

Out of minor villains, my absolute favorite is Lightning Dust. She's competitive, stubborn, in a way just that Rainbow Dash is, or was two seasons before. She's a very strong competitor, and she definitely has her qualities. She's amazing, actually.

I have to admit, Sombra has grown on me over time .I kind of like him for some reason. I guess I have the fan made comics to thank for that. I feel bad that he supposedly died so hopefully he comes back and just hides away like Chrysalis currently is.

I'm tied with two villains in both categories.

 

I like Discord AND Chrysalis as my favorite villains (but, I voted Chrysalis because she gets no love compared to Discord.)

 

Gilda and Lightning Dust are my favorite secondary antagonists. (I voted Lightning because her attitude in the original ending for 'Wonderbolts Academy' was MUCH better than what we got-and that makes her more sympathetic to me.)
