What is the first thing you'd do if you won the lottery

Let's say you won $50 million in the power ball (or game show of your choice if you never play the lottery).

 

What's the first thing you would do with the money?

 

At risk of sounding incredibly boring, the first thing I'd do is run some calculations to put together a sort of budget.

 

How much would it cost to buy the current things on my mind? (An awesome house, a bunch of lolita dresses)

 

How much would I have to put into the bank to live off of tax-free interest and never have to work a day in my life?

 

How much would be left over to donate to each charity of my choosing?

 

 

I suppose that's kind of cheating since i asked what the first thing you'd do with the money is, and I could write a spreadsheet without 50 mil in my back pocket sooooo with that said, I guess the first thing I'd do is buy the property I'd need to build a new house from scratch... A normal looking house, of the average size... But a ginormous basement to hold all my stuff (most likely mostly clothes... specifically dresses and cosplay material)! complete with recreations of various locations from works of fiction (such as Yubaba's bath house from Spirited Away... yeah, that completely underground with working water and everything!), and cool places I've seen in a few select dreams of mine X3

 

But this isn't all about me, what would all of you do with the money?

I'd pay all my current and old bills, settle some debts I feel I owe a couple people, put about 150K in a savings account for myself, and keep about 10M for my own nefarious purposes (I'd like to own a decommissioned ICBM silo... and turn it into my own little Vault 13). I'd live off the interest generated by my savings account, and maybe buy some property and build/buy some houses to rent out as supplemental income. I'd then give the rest to my mother and step-father for putting up with my insane self.

There are silos up for sale with a price of about 230K. Sure you have to do everything from plumbing to electrical and you'll need to furnish it as well, but it's probably one of the most secure homes you could have (except for earthquakes, but they generally ruin everything anyway).

Pretty boring but I would probably put it all in the bank and set up a budget. With the money I would probably help out my friends and just sort of relax without financial worries. There aren't a lot of things I want beside the necessities

If I won that much, I'd budget so I don't have to work a day in my life ever again. Then use alot of that free time for charity work. I don't really trust charitys to be honest, too many nonprofits have crazy overpaid CEO's and such. I'd much rather donate my time, or even start my own charity maybe.

 

 

I don't think I would splurg on myself too much, maybe buy a really cool gaming setup or something. I'd also give alot to my family.

 

Of course, I'm sure anyone who has ever won the lottery has said the same things, and things didnt happen how they planned.

I would fill my room with figurines, plushies, posters, and anything else i can get my hands on. What will they depict? The Pink One and The Royal Sisters. I shall worship them to the very end...

 

Then, once that's done, all of it goes to charity. Don't really need much else in life. And if there is something i need or desperately want, I'd rather do it myself, rather than hope Lady Luck gives me a freebie.

 

And i want alot. Like all the games i want. Like Fallout 4, Mirrors Edge 2, Dishonored 2, Isaac Afterbirth, WoW's newest expansions, Hearthstone Cards and Adventures, perhaps a better computer...

Put it in the bank, invest it and live a normal life as quietly and modestly as possible. I wouldn't want anyone to know of the wealth, that's how some really toxic friendships can start.

 

But I must admit, I'd build that underground home ive always wanted to build.

I'd buy photoshop, and maybe a bunch of books or something, but other than that I'd donate a bunch to charity and invest some for the future (student loans and house costs, man). I also wouldn't let anyone know how much money I had, because do you know what people would do to get that much cash?

Hide it away from the world. Cover up my tracks and stay low. No one should know that I have that much money. ;-;

Some things I could finally do though,

 

-Go to a convention

-Work on Cosplay

-Buy clothes (couple hundred there)

and maybe a car when I got my license.

 

Then I'd save it and let it grow interest. It'd help with college too.

Though it'd be money for my family alone, and I wouldn't feed their addictions. I could only let some of my family know, not my entire family or things will get hectic.

Once that's done then I would begin to splurge left and right for a while, getting a new computer, all the games and consoles I've always wanted, you get the picture.

If I won the lottery the first thing I would do is donate some of it to a charity.  I have always wanted to be able to have enough money to donate to a charity, probably one helping children to be able to go to school or helping to get them nice clothes or toys and food.    The next thing I would do is get a new car because mine is almost at 200,000 miles and it's just old....I really do need a new one.  And of course I would find my own place to live or build my own house.  I have always wanted a house in the middle of the forest.   The rest of it would go into savings for whatever is to come in the future.
