TheMisterManGuy 344 December 10, 2015 Share December 10, 2015 We've all been to a mall at one point. Those places that people (especially teenagers) go to that group some of the biggest store chains together under one roof. Then you also have a Farmers Market, at least, a specific kind of Farmers market like the Berlin Farmers Market in my area. They carry simmilar items like food, clothing, electronics, entertainment, toys, etc. only it's smaller, more crowded, lacks all of the big store chains, and has a grungier, more underground atmosphere. Given the choice, which do you prefer to shop at?
Fluttershyfan94 5,744 December 10, 2015 Share December 10, 2015 I don't really prefer one over the other, although I would say if I had to choose that I'd rather go to a farmers market. Not to mention a farmers market is usually less crowded at least around here. Though I tend to be a bit of a mall rat when it comes to coffee, more coffee there. Still I live in the country, so I prefer farmers markets. Koukatsu 5,899 December 10, 2015 Share December 10, 2015 Neither, but if I had to pick one, the mall.Farmers Markets aren't bound to any sort of warranty if something you get breaks. (Since you included electronics. Though, the FM's I've ever been to have been mainly food, or handmade jewelry and such.) They're not companies, they're people. People with stalls, but people. They might replace/fix it, or they could just tell you to bugger off. VengefulStrudel 1,495 December 10, 2015 Share December 10, 2015 I haven't really been to any malls - not that many around where I live. Farmer's markets are much more common, though I don't go to those either. So, I suppose neither. Check out my art thread for some cute ponies, cookies and boops. simba86 1,541 December 10, 2015 Share December 10, 2015 i used to prefur farmers markets"flea markets in my part of the world" but i have recently gave up on them and started buying pretty much everything online because the people at the farmers markets started wanting full retail and ABOVE for stuff, they would even want full retail for USED stuff, why spend gas when they want retail? now i just buy it online It's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees! Anneal 2,197 December 10, 2015 Share December 10, 2015 I would pick a farmers' marker over a supermarket, considering the quality of food alone, but accessibility and convenience usually forces me to go to the latter. But since this poll is about malls, not supermarkets, I'll pick both. Malls have a whole lot of appliances and various other goods that can't be found in a farmers' market, and unlike a farmers' market, isn't restricted by other factors. A mall will always be there, every day, and will generally last until midnight with no interruptions.
Vulcan 3,255 December 10, 2015 Share December 10, 2015 It depends, but If I have to pick one Farmer's market for sure The Market's here are one of the cheapest in the world ^ ^ , though the quality is iffy, I choose the farmer's because of the feeling of adventure one gets when walking past the stalls. Megas 27,960 December 10, 2015 Share December 10, 2015 It sounds like you're getting "Farmer's market" mixed up with "flea market", so it's kind of weird to see you compare it to the Mall instead of a supermarket or a grocery store I kind of have a soured opinion on malls, the one closest to my house used to have a ton of neat stores, but most of them have been replaced by trendy clothes stores. Besides, the flea market is usually great for someone like me who likes to collect games, and you might find something neat that someone may not now how much it's worth. CuriousPony 157 December 10, 2015 Share December 10, 2015 Depends... if there's a farmer's market, I like to go see what kind of unique things they have. But if I find one of those huge, awesome malls (especially if there's a Rainforest Cafe inside!), I'll probably wanna check that out too. I don't go to either very often though, to be honest. Me in a nutshell.
Frith is Magick 1,471 December 10, 2015 Share December 10, 2015 I love Farmer's Markets, even more so since I started working in a mall. In my area, Farmer's Markets are a seasonal thing, and the closest one is only two days out of the week. I love going for the foods. The various prepartions of various meats, the fresh produce (especially during cherry season;they're fresher and cheaper than the grocery store), and the baked goods that I am perfectly adept at baking were it not too hot to turn on the oven. There are also various craftsmen and artists selling unique wares, and with rare luck, a knifemaker. I love the atmosphere; a mall is crowded and filled with an air of rush, but the crowds at the Farmer's Market are more calm and ponderous, enjoying all there is to enjoy. I may not get there often, but when I go, it's for enjoyment, not because I have to. 1 Keep flyin'
CandyStrike 603 December 10, 2015 Share December 10, 2015 I went to my local market and it was all vegetables, hippie and new age stuff, and one guy selling survival equipment. Nothing I'm interested in. I don't know what kind of farmer's market you're going to where they have toys. Are they handmade toys? So I guess that leaves the mall. Though, I rather just go to a chain store, like Walmart or Target. Or better yet, a thrift store. I love going to thrift stores. I once found a talking Princess Celestia toy that still talked for under a dollar. score.

TheMisterManGuy 344 December 10, 2015 Author Share December 10, 2015 (edited) I went to my local market and it was all vegetables, hippie and new age stuff, and one guy selling survival equipment. Nothing I'm interested in. I don't know what kind of farmer's market you're going to where they have toys. Are they handmade toys? They're usually pre-owned toys or off-market knock-offs, but they're toys none the less. It sounds like you're getting "Farmer's market" mixed up with "flea market", so it's kind of weird to see you compare it to the Mall instead of a supermarket or a grocery store The Farmers Market in my area actually has a seperate flea market on weekends. The main shopping center inside has more than food. It has Electronics, toys, entertainment, clothes, furniture, candy, and even an Arcade. EpicEnergy 23,240 June 18, 2020 Share June 18, 2020 I'd prefer to go to the mall just because I'm most familiar with the place. *totally not up to any shenanigans*
Thuja 3,663 June 18, 2020 Share June 18, 2020 Farmer's Market, since I get to support small local businesses. This one Farmer's Market I went to had this little area where anyone can sell whatever, it was kinda like a thrift market but you can trade for stuff too. There was also a few good bakeries and food stalls there too, I miss that place.
Pastel Heart 6,470 June 18, 2020 Share June 18, 2020 I like malls more cos of the lights and aesthetics! Moreso if it's one of those abandoned malls from the 90s and 80s that have their old stuff up and neon signs!
TBD 17,263 June 19, 2020 Share June 19, 2020 I would rather shop at the mall. Small business markets are nice to look around for authenticity. cultures, and arts but damn they're always expensive and hardly no good deals at all. ♪ "I practice every day to find some clever lines to say, to make the meaning come through"♪

Dreambiscuit 10,757 June 24, 2020 Share June 24, 2020 I prefer the mall. I don’t have to deal with bad weather, I prefer the big chain stores, the better malls have nice fountains, live music and food courts, and I’m not into anything ‘underground’ if that’s what a Farmer’s Market is like. But if Farmer's Markets are anything like Antique malls or the really big Flea Markets, count me in!
DixonTheAdversary 1,634 June 24, 2020 Share June 24, 2020 I'd choose the mall for new goods, like newly released electronics and such. But I'd choose the Farmer's market for used goods (assuming it's similar to a flea market).
Stardust 642 June 30, 2020 Share June 30, 2020 Honestly to me in the UK comparison of a mall to a farmers market is very strange. I didn't think people actually did a lot of food shopping in malls, just clothes mainly maybe furniture and electronics or going for entertainment. And most of the time a farmers market at least for me is just for some purchases rather than the lot though some people take it more seriously. I think of more small grocers and supermarkets as a comparison. A mall and a farmers market is too different to me to make sense? We do have like other markets that sell random clothes and toys but they tend to be down market and I don't consider them farmers markets as such I mean how do you farm toys I think some places call them flea markets though I don't tend to hear that a lot either. oh and we have like markets that sell old stuff, antique markets. We don't call them malls though but shopping centres hehe. I hardly ever go to those I mean there are the local run down ones that I do go to. That just feel more like a lot of shops under one roof. But those are actually combined with markets and all surrounding them. In that context I suppose the comparison makes sense lol. But in my head it's kinda weird haah. When I go buy electronics though its usually online or if not from a shop in a out of town place like currys pc world.
