gaming Worst Game(s) of 2015

Games. They can be good, they can be bad. We have had a fair share of awesome games this year, I made a thread for that a little while back. In this thread, we can focus on the stuff that deserves criticism more than praise, the worst games of the year. What were they to you?

Now, Magic Duels Origins was on track to being my worst game of the year, but the new updates have improved it and made it fun, so I just cnanot bring myself to give it such a mark.

My two choices are probably:

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival

Tony Hawk, that game was abysmal and was an obvious cash in by Activision, what a shock right? The game looks like an early PS2 game, it has had numerous massive patches, including a day one patch that was larger than the entire game itself and numerous other problems. Such a sad state and it is a shame to see Activision ruining another franchise.

Amiibo Festival is a complete mockery to me. Animal Crossing is a series I love so much and to see Nintendo treat it as an Amiibo cash-cow is saddening. I do love the Amiibo figures, but this game exists only to sell those and nothing else. That, angers me.

Edit: Adding Project Root to this post. That game was....horrendous.

Tony Hawk 5 was a released in an inexcusably unfinished state and was only released just so Activision can get a game out before their license ended. Coupled with it being developed by the same devs behind the train wreck that was RIDE which is already a huge warning sign and the fact that the name was used to bank on nostalgia. It gets my vote

Well if Destiny The Taken King is treated as a full game by everyone else, I might as well just throw it in there because Destiny/Bungievision.

Fifa 16, despite not being a Fifa player myself, the fact they were actually able to make it worse than Fifa 15 despite, well, not really having to change much, is just depressing.

But I didn't really play anything particularly bad so meh :LLL

Black Ops 3 on last gen consoles.

I own it on PS3, I purchased it unknowingly they excluded so many things from it. I didn't mind a campaign not being there, but there was no split-screen multiplayer/zombies, emblem creator, lack of zombie maps.
Basically, you could only play multiplayer.
It was a huge disappointment and a waste of money since me and my sister were really looking forward to this game.

In my intro post I mentioned that I was a game journalist and while there were a lot of main stream bombs this year as well as some steam greenlight shenanigans.  As someone who makes it a point to review every indie game that comes across her desk allow me to say:

you_know_nothing.gif

Note that I am using this gif as a joke but I figured it'd be appropriate considering all the games I've had to sit through this year. I've seen some things in games that'd make your stomach turn, fake blue screens of death that make you think you blue screened, A narrator who isn't charming in the slightest and won't stop talking, a Blob of indescerable origins trying to look scary and won't let you out of the car you're in because of a glitch, A game that belongs on Newgrounds being sold for 10 dollars and a shooter game with a ear bleedingly loud soundtrack filled to the brim with unfunny references.

While I've reviewed some amazing games this year these will not be counted among them.

Red Goddess: Inner World
Sylvio
The Weaponographist
TerraBlaster
The Last Dogma (This one gets a special mention because they got all my screenshots removed for "Content" Even though said content was not a spoiler nor inappropriate.)

Some may hate me for this, but I think the worst game of this year is Star Wars Battlefront.

I played most of the previous games and I think these (which came YEARS ago) are much, much better and fun. Heck, I didn't expect too much from this game, I just expected it to be a graphical update of the last Battlefront game which was Elite Squadron, but Dice converted one of my favorite videogame franchises into a generic shooter. The mechanics are good, and the graphics are beautiful; but the lack of Galactic Conquest, the lack of more maps, the lack of space battles had me really sad :(

I haven't really played anything bad so i guess the worst game i have played this year is MGS5. Too many time wasting features. Everything online was uncomfortable or just bad. Not a big fan of it.

Bet not many of you expected MGS5 to be on this list XD

The Last Dogma

Just Youtube'd some gameplay. Oh wow, what a find. What kind of hardcore, fedora-tipping, Reddit-lurking, edgelord motherfucker made that game?

The same guy who thought that thought it'd be a good idea to seek out journalists personal emails and send it to us there rather than our professional ones that are on display. Also the same guy who decided to give you a fake blue screen of death for almost 40 seconds of gameplay, Having the intro cut scene look like this:

who also accuses anyone who gave him a negative review of just not understanding his game to the point where links this to all of us.

Fallout 4 was a massive disappointment, sure it's fun, but damn, did Bethesda destroy it. Seriously, Power armor 10 minutes in and a damn minigun? A freaking laser musket that can wreck at level 1? The Idiot Savant Perk? I'm level 194 and I haven't even made it to diamond city to start the main quest, because all I'm doing is roaming in circles around the map killing.

I think the worst of all the games of 2015 and 2014 is Destiny. It was obviously broken, got content ripped from it and the real story mode was also ripped and sold for $40!! And now micro-transactions in a non-F2P game?!

I could start a whole rant about Destiny, but instead I'll just call it an insulting cashcow.

And by the way, one of the directors called classic style FPS outdated and not wanted anymore.

Battlefield Hardline was a massive let down for me. It just didn't feel significant and 'Battlefield-y', and definitely did not live up to Battlefield 4 and 3's expectations. I hate how they limited the amount of large maps in favour for more close combat ones, turning into a more fast-paced FPS like CSGO or COD. That's not necessarily bad, I like that sort of stuff -- but not in a Battlefield game.

Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival, bar none. I've never been a huge fan of Animal Crossing, but I like it, it's a fun, cute game to play when you're down. Amiibo Festival is a mockery. One, amiibos are required to play, which is some bullshit (in my eyes, amiibos were meant to be fun, optional little trinkets that weren't necessary to play a game but were fun to have). And second, the gameplay is like a watered down Mario Party. Nintendo would be better off releasing Animal Crossing DLC to Mario Party, like in Mario Kart, then releasing a whole new, awful game.

The only thing positive about it is that they kept the personality of the game in. Gameplay's still bad.

Have the courage to think and act on your own. And have the courage to disobey.

I can vouch for Amiibo Festival from above. I was thinking of getting it one day, until I saw the price tag ($60 USD) and the scathing reviews it got. It'd be nice if they could make an Animal Crossing game for the Wii U, but instead we got a half-assed party game that requires specific Amiibos to work. "What were they thinking?"

Battlefront 2015 didn't get too kind of remarks from my friends who like the Star Wars games and Battlefront.

You've done something horribly wrong if you're level 194 and haven't even started the main quest. There's not even that much content in the game so you had to have been literally running in circles since the game came out. Have you even done any quests?

Let's just ignore the fact that the minigun is an extremely weak gun and the laser musket has limited use considering how slow it fires. You should have been in Diamond City within ten hours max.

I'll never understand people who wander aimlessly in those types of games. The game world isn't THAT interesting.

The most disappointing game has to be battle front. such potential. I mean a new battlefront gamw in the frostbite engine. sounds amazing. don't get me wrong its a fun game but the lack of content is insane. guess whst? EA are releasing paid for dlc to bring more maps. that's new EA charging more for a game than its actually woth? that's new they haven't done that before.

sorry for the rant just had alot to say.

Any Sakura games released this year, for completely obvious reasons. Need money fast? Just plaster a big ol' bunch of anime tiddie to the cover of your game and wait for the cash to flow in. I don't play dating sims and visual novels, so I don't really see the appeal, but even I can see it's shit. Surely people don't actually enjoy those games? That is not proper gameplay or how to tell a damn story! If I wanted tits, I'd go on Google and look up some good old-fashioned porn.

Another disappointment for me was Fallout 4. So much potential, wasted. Look, I get that you were stepping into a new direction, but some of the ways, like clipping the dialogue tree down to basic 4 answers, getting power armor super early, and stepping on some of the lore just kind of ruins it for me. The Fallout I love is in there, but it's hidden behind tons of crap that Bethesda buried it under.

I'm bad because I listen to music with swears.

Here are a few of the worst games that came out this year:

  • Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5
  • Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival
  • IRONFALL Invasion
  • Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma

My vote goes to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 because it had an artstyle that doesn't suit that type of skateboarding game along with all the bugs and glitches etc.

Fallout 4 also had a lot of problems like buggy quests, crashes, freezes, save files getting corrupted, players getting stuck and many more bugs and glitches. I have the game and i haven't played it yet but it's just wrong for Bethesda to release a game with that many problems.

Well My worst game of 2015 would be Maple Story. I've been playing the game since 2006 and then these issues and problems continues and Nexon hasn't done anything to fix the issues. All they're doing is abide their time and not doing anything to schedule a maintenance to fix up the issues. That's what emergency maintenance comes in. Not to mention a lot of NX sellers and ruining the party play even though Bishops, Support Beast Tamers, Phantoms, and Kannas can't do much to do a solo grind in terms of the damage they inflict on the mobs.

Thats a really hard one since IMO 2015 was the best year of new games giving us titles such as "Rare Replay", "Black Ops 3", and the long awaited "Star Wars Battlefront"... though I'd go with Halo 5 as worst and that is still stretching it... I'm not saying its a bad game I just dont like what its done with the story same with Halo 4...
