That is a terrible idea, but I guess Lyra would make a nice human name.

I was dead until the moment I met you. I was a powerless corpse pretending to be alive. Living without power, without the ability to change my course, was akin to a slow death. it depends, some of them would work as human names, but naming a kid "pinkie pie" would probably not be a good idea

I had once considered Octavia if ever I were to have a girl, but more for its ties to Roman history (both Octavia/Octavius) than the show. Thinking upon it, however, it does seem quite dated, and whilst I would wish my child to have a more unique name, I wouldn't wish for it to be ostentatious. I shall probably settle for a name like Sophia or the like. Of course, I do not plan on having a child for quite some time, so I am not sure why I should be worrying about it at the moment.

Do remember, however, that your child is not you (biological semantics aside), however much you wish them to be.

bronys are capaple of having kids, we are not different from anyone else. We just have different personalities. Also the good mlp names for humans:

Octavia

Lyra

Cadence

Bad mlp names for humans:

Big Mac

literally every other mlp name ever

Harsh.  People have given stranger names to their kids.  I can be a pompous moralist too and say that people who smoke should not be allowed to have kids.

I'm pretty sure most bronies are incapable of having children, anyway.

I inhale dank memes, and i intend to make a dank signature soon. I also have shyabetes btw.

My co worker has a daughter named Cadence. I'm not sure if it was inspired by the show or not. It's not a name that really stands out as being  odd though. It just sounds like a variation on Candace to me. I've been meaning to ask but don't know if it's weird to do so.

I wouldn't give my kid a legal pony name but I could see doing so as a nickname if it fit the personality. I think Rarity is pretty, as is Pinkie.  Pinkie could make a cute nickname if it fit the child's personality. I also like Luna but that seems to be a very common choice for people with pet cats. Maude is a real person name and I love the character but I'm not sure how she'd be perceived in this day and age. I'm not even crazy abut the name.

I SWEAR I remember hearing that Britt McKillip, who voiced Princess Cadence, has a daughter named Cadence who (this blew my mind) is the singing voice for Cadence. I can't remember where I heard that, I've been trying to look it up, but I remember hearing that somewhere.

I think lyra, vinyl, luna, selestia or dash would be cute names but you should call your child that because you think it's a nice name and not because there is a fictional character that's named like that.

I would say no.

It really reminds me of this one sketch that DawnSomewhere did (non MLP related) and I can't find it anymore but the script was only this.

Greg: Hey Allen?

Allen: Yeah

Greg: Remember that one news story where these parents named their kid Optimus prime?

Allen: Yeah I remember that...

Greg: And throughout his whole life he taught himself to hate every single thing about Optimus Prime?

Allen: .......Yeah?

Greg: So........ Would it be a good idea to name my kid Hitler?

The end

Basically, I can't stop anyone from naming their kids anything. But if you name him/her Fluttershy, he/she's probably going to hate her for his/her entire life.

I think most pony names don't fit for people, I mean, many of them could lead for them being bullied for it. Few could really fit for a person, like Luna, Celeste (I Celestia still sound too fictional character like), Cadance, Octavia, Lyra.... but not many. Pets however, you can name them any pony name with no problem  :D

Celebrities give their kids weird names, and surely they pay a price for it..

Frank Zappa named his son, Dweezil. And his daughter, Moon-Unit....

Kanye names his baby girl, North?

People who treat their children like fashion accessories/pets should be ashamed.

Personally, I don't think so. The majority of the character names are just too irregular to be used in real life, most of them are just plays on other words after all.

I've actually heard of someone naming their child after Zecora, which is about one of the only names I'd consider to be less conspicuous than the others, and it is quite a nice name in itself. Would I choose it over a more traditional human name though? Probably not.

LULz, if parents find out. BTW, this's been around January 2015, and Coco Pommel was already in the show though

Names, like any other words, are just words. Society can take offense to anything nowadays. This, I wouldn't recommend due to that reason. Society would flip out and go psycho bonkers over it, causing news coverage for weeks. That wouldn't be too great for the standings of bronies either I don't think. If this wouldn't happen, I wouldn't see the big deal personally.

I plan to never, ever have children but if I wanted them I probably would probably not name them after a MLP character. I would want them to have a "normal" sounding name. The most normal sounding name is Luna and I don't really feel like naming my baby Luna.  No, wait Lyra!  That sounds normal enough!  I'm naming the baby I will never have Lyra.

Absolutely not. Naming your child like you would a pet is demeaning and doing so shows a severe lack of priorities. This is a human being -- give him/her a meaningful name. Naming your child shouldn't be treated lightly, because it's a gift that will stay with them for life.

Luna is actually a decent name for a girl

Luna is considered an actual name though (Luna Lovegood, a character from Harry Potter for example, though plenty of real world examples that I can't think of right now would exist too).

Hecky no.

I would completely understand if my children hated me if I gave them a MLP name. That's something that is going to stick with them for life...

That would also set up your poor little ones for being teased DX
