Trends in the fandom you wish would just die

Twilight outliving her friends.

Despite, you know, the staff saying otherwise.

What the staff says is completely irrelevant to fan works though... .-.

In-depth show anal(y)sis.

...What exactly is the problem with people thinking about what they watch?

Now, if the show aired on TLC or MTV or VH1, where not thinking about any of it is the expected status quo...

Ponifying terms in normal speaking e.g. everypony instead of everyone; I don't see a need for it, honestly.

Irrational hatred towards Clop.

People wanting Lauren back. Dunno if that's a trend, but I have seen it around quite a bit.

When people point to something in the show and its like "and they say its a little girls show"

Um.. Yeah it still is a girls show at the end of the day.

:icwudt:

Also the use of the phrase "20% cooler", the whole idolization (I guess?) of background ponies (Muffins, Vinyl Scratch, ect ect)

the whole mess that is princess "molestia" or any celestia parody that involves her being a tyrant

Actually, at the end of the day, media has neither sex nor gender, is not inherently tied to either male or female, and the social concepts dividing things between the two are nonsense. Chances are it's at least partially owned by dudes as well. :P

And everything to do with Celestia outside the show itself is just awful. XP Full agreement.

I mean in the sense that MLP originally was and still is considered a show for girls (target audiences and all that jazz. Not to say that it's made solely for little girls.) Yeah the whole gendered media thing is a pain in the ass but something that's still a thing, unfortunately.

I'm basically a disliker of excessives and extremes. I dislike people who fawn excessively over one of the two princesses and call the other a tyrant; I dislike doom-and-gloomers who always complain about whatever Hasbro comes up with next being the death of the show; I dislike people who forget the show is really designed for children and think episodes and series need to have a depth that young children could never hope to understand, and so on.

I'm a grumpy bugger of a person sometimes

"Herd" stories

I was about to ask what "herds" were, but I think I get it...

Whoah, is this really a common thing in the fandom??

Well the trend i hate the most is that people in the fandom don't give me money.

And the trend of not giving me free coffee. Come on, people.

The Pony Creator. It's a terrible stopgap solution losers use as a permanent one, taking money and art away from real artists.

I really agree with this one, I feel quite strongly about art being appreciated but not exploited.

I wouldn't call that grumpy, just realistic. The show's primary target audience is kids and extremist fans are extremely annoying in any fandom.

Miku is correct that its meant to be a girl's show. It always has been like that. Doesn't mean then there's anything wrong with boys watching it. I mean Transformers is meant to be a boys cartoon and plenty of girls watch it. Just accept it for what it is and admit that its enjoyable.

People lashing out on Twitter at the writers and creators because something happened / an episode aired that they didn't like. There's never even any constructive criticism, it's just "YOU SUCK, SHOW RUINED" complaining.

Trends I wish would just die:

-Fluttercord: I really don't like this shipping. As friends, ok, but not in a realtionship. In my opinion, both don't fits to the other. He is a godlike creature who lives since years and she is a normal pony. Same with Spike x Rarity.

-Human Fluttershy with giant breasts. Why? Why must she have giant breasts? What is the reason for this? In a lot of humanized/anthro pictures, she have a thin body and big breasts. I really don't like this.

-Psycho Pinkamena. Why is she always a psycho? I don't get it. Some pictures are looks nice, but mostly, the pictures are disturbing. And I must say, I can't see it anymore. Normal Pinkamena pictures are cute, but not with gore/splatter and such stuff. -.-

Porn being produced only minutes after a new character reveal. Can we like... Wait a week or something at the very least?

How can you not like porn? D:

But seriously, I have nothing against trying to shift the mood into more serious, darker one in fanfics, or try out different interpretation of a character, but I'm really against gorefest and torture and killing where there shoul be none, like infamous Cupcakes and Rainbow Factory. Also making Celestia evil. She can be "troll" and manipulative in the sense that she will tell only half of message to make characters figure out the rest and learn something on the way, but that's only because she believes in them. She's probably the best ruler one would like to have.

Also trying to force yaoi and yuri everywhere.

Lyra and Bon Bon may be the only actual lesbians in the show. Their body language is supicious in that direction. Vinyl and Octavia MAY have something going, but I would see it more as friends with benefits rather than romantic.

But even if we confirm that those are homosexual pairs, that doesn't mean, 80% of Equestria is homo and that RD or Applejack or Fluttershy are lesbians -_-

I only rage at cheap Alicorns, not decent ones.

Yet, "cheap" is an opinionated term.

What's "cheap" to you won't necessarily be "cheap" to someone else.

So your argument is invalid. :muffins:

Again, this fandom was based on 4chan. Of course anime stereotypes are going to be present sometimes. :muffins: :muffins: :muffins:

Saying 20% cooler. These days it just seems like something casuals say in order to sound hip within the fandom. It's like when somebody says they're a "gamer" because they play Call of Duty and nothing else.

I say it when I'm trying to peeve anti-bronies off.

Because I can.

Oh yes. People who say "everypony" always just for some reason peeve me off. No idea why, but it does.

The belief that this fandom was found on peace, love, and acceptance. Those are all fine and dandy and things to employ in life, but the fandom was never created on such nor has it ever been defined as such. It is a fandom about a show that has to do with such aspects, but was not founded on those principals. I'm pretty much good with everything else side white knighting and taking anti-bronies too seriously to the point of conflict.

I don't have a problem with people "thinking about what they watch."  Making reviews that run longer than the episodes themselves and analyzing every itty bitty detail while their OC obnoxiously cycles through one of five still frames?  That I have a problem with.  I do not consider pony analysis vids entertaining.  The thing they're analyzing?  That's the entertainment.  And I don't need a series about colorful equines closely observed and subsequently chastised for not being precisely the originally-intended-for-small-children-and-later-unexpectedly-enjoyed-by-adults viewing experience that they wanted it to be.

I love that you don't seem to have a problem with the porn, just the quickness of it.

Anyway, porn.

I'm okay with the porn itself, but we should have like a grace period before the porn pops out is all.

I don't have much of a problem with it either. I just wish that you could only find it if you wanted to.

I believe there is a group that regularly goes through Google Image search and flags stuff that appears when you have safe search on that shouldn't be there, so there's that at least. It's a good start.

That is an unexpected opinion. Ain't got an issue with it myself, but yea lol. If you don't mind my asking what is wrong with it coming out so soon after?

It increases the chances of people stumbling upon it when they don't want to because at the start of something there is far less content obviously because it's so new. So porn is more likely to come up because there is so little content available at the start. So if you START with porn, people are more likely to end up with porn while looking for non-porn.

Ahh that makes total sense then. Definitely agree with that sentiment as google images is rather safe when it comes to characters that have been around.

A singular bad moment =/= the entire show being ruined.

It just means there's been a sucky moment.
