How will MLP:FiM be remembered in 15/20 years time?

Do you think it will be looked back as a highpoint of the 2010s era of animation by a majority (e.g. Spongebob) or do you think it will be seen as a good show for it's time but fade into relative obscurity (e.g. Angry Beavers)?

My guess is that it will be mostly forgotten five years after it end.

I highly doubt that. While some in the fandom only treat the show as some fad bandwagon to jump onto, I see this show and its fandom as something that will be historic in media and it will be remembered for a long, long time.

In terms of how it will remembered, I can't really say, though I would think it would be remembered as one of the better cartoons of the 2010's.

It will probably be looked upon fondly by those that still remember it.

I doubt it would ever leave the kind of impact Spongebob had, but it will be known for having a large fanbase and being one of the popular cartoons of the 2010's.

I say it really depends on many factors. First if Hasbro will continue to make the toys till then, how the movie turns out, and how much longer the show runs. Who knows, impossible to say until the show is gone.

Just as the previous generations of MLP, FiM will be the measuring stick for the quality of future incarnations of it. The nostalgia goggles will help with that too.

The main impact this show had will have definitely been social: the fandom's existence has made identifying people with autism extremely easy.

I believe that Fim will be remember strongly because of the internet. Previous generations of MLP didn't live in the age of instantaneous communication and technology that allows people with similar interest to form a following. The MLP fandom lives on the internet because that's were the fandom came. All of the FanFiction, Videos, Music, Art, and more lives online. I can be wrong and say that the internet may destroy itself in future time and rid itself of pastel colored ponies, but I hope that doesn't happens! because I want my future kids to watch MLP too.

It'll be looked at as an oddity of grown-ass men obsessing over (and HIGHLY perverting) a show for little girls and making mountains out of mole hills...

How do you think WE feel?!

I say the My Little Pony franchise alone has already left it's mark on children's entertainment. But I'd say Friendship is Magic and the bronies have most certainly left a more significant mark on society.

The concept of grown adult men liking a show originally intended for girls for the simple fact of it's lessons and Lauren's intention of connecting to a broader audience shows a prime example of breaking down social barriers and eliminating stereotypes for grown men.

The show helped destroying the rhetoric of "horses are girly things" and proofed that having an extensive audience rewards.

Japan, where Yo-Kai Watch's second movie has more success than The Force Awakens :umad:

My hope is it'll mimic Star Trek. People outside the fandom couldn't give two ****s, but people part of the fandom keep it alive until the next iteration. Which hopefully G5 will be just as good/better than G4.

I don't. The whole issue and controversial nature of the Brony fandom has definitely cooled down over the last few years and just become another facet of the internet. Things in he media change too fast now for a cartoon show to have widespread lasting impact on the public consciousness. Particularly for a show like MLP which is still often viewed by most people as not something to be taken seriously. It will fade like everything else does.

Keep in mind that there aren't any really objective stances to be found here. It's comforting to think that something you've invested so much of your time and energy into will have a lasting legacy but simply wishing it doesn't make it so. I will remember Friendship is Magic long after it ends but I have no strong reason to believe most of society will. People will move on to the next thing. MLP will still exist as a brand, sure, but the show itself doesn't appear to be breaking precedents like many had hoped it would.

Live in the present moment as I always say. Only time will tell how much of an impact FIM will have in the future.

As of right now though, the fact that the show has been on the air for nearly 6 years + a full length feature film released at the end of 2017, it's safe to say that FIM is far from going away any time soon

MLP:FiM will be remembered as the show that broke stereotypes of what was known as a cartoon for little girls, and resulted in establishing the brony fandom. From all the love and hate, this show and everything in between is responsible for all this.
