The villain of the movie

According to The Journal of the Two Sisters, Princess Luna learned a spell from Star Swirl that would let her move the stars. From this we can surmise that Nightmare Moon used the power of the stars to break the spell, but had to wait one thousand years for some reason, probably when the spell was weak enough.

I don't remember her actually accomplishing that. She actually failed to move the stars. While it's possible that she learned after the events of the book (while still in rule), wouldn't it be funny if she learned how to move the stars while imprisoned? Like she was trying the whole time to move them so they could aid her?

Honestly though, I'm kind of thinking it'll be grogar; I hate G1 and don't want more of it, but I expect hasbro will try to force in a callback to G1, and he's one of the few characters from G1 that most bronies are "okay" with like Tirek.

Since the movie dropped the alicorn lore in favor of seaponies, I think Cosmos is officially scrapped. I dunno who could be the main villain now, but apparently, it'll be several of them

Technically, we don't KNOW that. Its possible they're just keeping that part under wraps-- the evil alicorn could be somepony who attacked the pony races of old in the past and was imprisoned or banished by the other alicorns for his acts, and the Seaponies are the only surviving Mortal pony race from his attack (due to fleeing underground).

It's...THE LEIGON OF DISCORD!

(no, not that one)

No really, that would be cool. I've long wanted to see the Mane 6 take on a villain team and surely I'm not alone.

Hard to say. You have several scripts done, with the most recent being done with Meghan and the writer behind Toy Story 2 and Mulan. I personally expect the Sea Pony arc to be a small plot point no longer that a 20 minute portion of the film ... according to the Russian leak ... they may hold info on defeating the film's Big Bad.

Given how the Comics did that plot, I'm sadly pretty sure its never going to happen: the show staff have a very serious stance on making sure that plots in the comics don't retread stuff they want to do in the show (like for example, Issue 1 originally had the CMC telling ghost stories before they got kidnapped, but they had to change that because it was too similar in the staff's mind to Sleepless in ponyville).

This pisses me of to AN ABSURD degree however, given how utterly pointless and phoned in the "villain team up" aspect of the Siege of the crystal empire was (It was utterly pointless and completely forgotten about after the third comic-- they don't even tell you what happened to the minor antagonists, they just dissapear)

Bleh. They look like they were going for a nega-mane six angle for Friendship games too but seemed to have dumped that and left it as a plot tumor amongst the many plot tumors in that movie (at least probably in their first drafts) given how the Shadowbolts were intended to be foils to the mane six in promo material and how they're initially setup)

I don't think they mean a team of past villains like the comics. But judging from the leaks, there will indeed be a group. If they're pulling out all the stops, maybe it will be an entire army of them. Of course, this would also mean there'd be a singular head villain commanding them, with maybe a distinct lieutenant or two and a few other agents scattered throughout the movie, working against the Mane Six.

LET NIGHTMARE MOON BE VILLAIN AGAIN :D

Eh, I doubt we'll get nightmare moon again. Luna's super popular, and its kind of an either or situation with her: You can either have Luna or you can have nightmare moon, but not both. Trying to have your cake and eat it too by having NMM be seperate from Luna so you can still use her was tried by the IDW comics, and its pretty universally loathed (in that they try and act like NMM is another being possessing luna instead of luna).

Besides, Nightmare moon IS a good villain, but I don't feel she's "High tier" enough, yeah? She's a great villain due to her connection to Celestia, but Power and stakes wise, she's been MASSIVELY outclassed by later villains (Discord and Tirek), so it'd seem like a downgrade. Like going from fighting Cell to fighting Raditz again or something XD

I'm still hoping it'll be an evil alicorn, based on those sony e-mails. Yes, the promo stuff we've gotten for the movie hasn't mentioned anything about the villain being an alicorn, but I'm still hopeful.

Like a lot of others, I think the villain will be an Alicorn of some sort, hopefully with some kind of connection to Celestia and Luna, so we can see the three of them have an epic fight scene.

As for this villain, I want he/she to be completely irredeemable.

I want him/her to be 100% evil. The kind of person I would see to be 100% evil would be someone who has a strong desire to see people suffer, and is willing to do anything inhuman and wicked to achieve this goal. (Possibly have the villain's goal to be to Destroy Equestria? Perhaps destroy the world in front of the main characters in order to see them suffer, and then to finish them off afterwards...?)

Possibly so evil that he/she can manage to RESIST the power of friendship, forcing the main characters to have to find another way to defeat him/her than with the usual Deus Ex Machina Harmonization solution. (Possibly force the main characters to kill him/her, or have the villain die in some way, shape, or form. And before you tell me that killing off a character in MLP is not good for the kids, let me remind you that Disney killed off plenty of their characters and it didn't negatively affect its child community at all.)

The perfect villain here would have to be smart and strong. Smarter than Chrysalis. Stronger than Tirek. All I want for them to do is to make this villain satisfyingly overpowered, but not too overpowered where they'll write themselves into a corner.

gonna take you out

I'm pretty sure it will be a new one, but there will be at least a reference to all of the past ones. I would like if they brought ALL of them back though, from like every major villain plot line. Like Trixie.

I've got nothing.

Euzeth Gozzo from Super Robot Wars Alpha. As the show's hidden true main antagonist, he will reveal himself to be behind every major threat to both Equestria and the human world.

  • 3 weeks later...

I don't really know why, but I would love to see Starswirl the Bearded be the main villain of the movie.

After how much he was mentioned in the show, it feels like finally giving him an appearance in the flesh would seem like a really big deal.

Where else should he be added besides the movie.

He was stated to not understand friendship or at least to the extent that Twilight did, and maybe his spell was intended to make himself an alicorn.

Ok now that is a good idea Seeing Star Swirl The Bearded would be awesome just seems like a chance to add to the good villians that mlp has had but they should pull a starlight glimmer or another optiob could any of the gen 1 villians
