I liked the pacing of the scene, felt like something out of S1 or S2. I just hope they haven't Flanderized Rainbow too badly to make her into a screw-up.

 

Nice to see a preview with all of the Mane 6 present + Spike + the CMC for a change.

Why would Hasbro not just swap Equestria Girls for it? Considering how badly Friendship Games is maybe GoH is replacing those movies.

The minis are still selling incredibly well though; I'm thinking they're going to just try and transition from the "traditional" monster high dolls to their mini line as their mane focus, and see if that works. (there's a very small line of legend of everfree toys announced for example compared to Friendship games, but a ton of Minis announced)

 

I don't think they'll end the EQG series unless the minis stop selling too. (though, if LOE does do bad, I think they may rethink their focus on Sunset shimmer as a central figure for the series and go back to twilight and demote sunset)

because the minis get advertisement and material from new EQG movies too; the shorts aren't the real reason that people know about the toys after all, the Slumber part stuff is from RR, and they'll be up to FG minis within a year; they need more movies for more content for Minis just as much as they need new movies for their traditional EQG toys.

Okay, I'm not denying this and I know MLP will have to end someday, but this just bummed me out. 

Better to fade out a legend than live on stretched out until worn thin, I guess. Hopefully we can get one more season out of it, though. He is just one voice, not everyone will tell you that. If Hasbro lost faith in the series they wouldn't be planning a spinoff and a movie.

There are fans that can write fics that could work well as episodes, but those are very few and far in between

 

An episode simply isn't that long, and is written far differently than a fanfic.  I will say though that there are quite a few authors of fanfiction that could write an episode if they wanted to, myself included.

What is the massive difference?

 

1. Is it script writing? There are loads of guides, there are several interviews and snapshots of show scripts online, so putting together a fanfic in the same format in the show is possible and might even be easier than the traditional form of storytelling.

2. Is it having to meet the demands of Hasbro/editors? Well, don't the professional writers have to work with in that as well?

3. Is it deadlines? Well okay, you got me there.

You seem to be under the impression that anyone can be a professional writer. Not everyone can deal with demanding editors. When you write fanfiction, you don't have to worry about demands or deadlines.

 

There's a difference between reading a guide on writing or an episode script online, and actually being able to write something of quality. 

 

I'm pointing out the difference in writing between fanfiction and an episode of the show. Most of the fanfics I've read contain OOCness and laughable attempts at covering mature themes. For some reason, writers seem to think that excessive swearing, violence, and sex make a story "mature".

Marginalizing the skill set of a professional writer by stating you could do better is absolutely adorable. It rarely loses its charm everytime I see it. Especially optimal for the effect is when the analysis predates the episode viewing.

Why are you putting so much emphasis on the professional part? Anyone who has a patreon writing pony fics is a professional writer.

Yeah that was my favorite part of the preview. Not just seeing her watch, but being right there in the sidelines with her(I'm assuming). Hoping she has a big part in the episode

And a really bucking good excuse for how she'll be able to stay with her friends. If she goes to the Wonderbolts full-time she'll have to be without Tank. It's really just a different job, and the Mane Six's jobs never interfere with the plot. Applejack probably does hours and hours of farmwork every day, and being a princess is presumably a big responsibility too, and these things never seem to matter. When you're as fast as Rainbow Dash, commute to Cloudsdale and back really isn't a big deal
