GTX 1000 series

The smart thing would be to wait until real-world benchmarks are available before throwing down any money at Nvidia.

I think it will be soon on Dailymotion/Youtube. I bet Nvidia wants it to be good after getting KO by AMD at the Doom beta benchmark tests.

I might get one, but that is assuming I have already bought my mac at that point.

I plan to upgrade my GPU about every two or three years or so, so It's about time for me. I currently have a GTX 670 with 2GB VRAM and I've been waiting for the 1000 series to be released to upgrade my GPU.

@@Key Sharkz: I'm planning to get one too, as long as it's affordable. But I think they won't make the same mistake with the Titan X. While the card is a mighty powerhouse, it is too expensive and there are even rumors that the PR management has trouble with promoting the card. And it also has to compete with cheaper alternatives.

The 1070 is $379, and will be on sale June 10th, while the 1080 is $599 and will be available on the 27th. The NDA will be up on the 17th, and AFAIK, LTT, JayzTwoCents, Awesomesauce, and I think Hardware Canucks will have reviews then.

I personally will be rocking my EVGA 980 Ti Superclocked until I decide the time is right, or until desire gets the better of me, which I would bet on.

Seeing as how I'm poor, not gonna happen soon. I am also going with AMD's less power consuming Polaris. Nvidia has done some things that made me cringe in disgust.

AMD has said that Polaris will be more mainstream, but I would speculate that they will try to target the 1070 more than the 1080 as Polaris's highest point. I would imagine a R9 490 would of course be on-par with the 1070, but for, say, $329. I do think that AMD isn't just going to let Nvidia have the high-end all to themselves.

Sure affordable for me ^_^.

I still remember the JayzTwoCents review of the Titan X, still enjoyable .

I'm amazed that Nvidia is making such claims. I'll wait for some real world benchmarks before making a decision. But as it stands I am very tempted to purchase a GTX 1070 as right now I'm using a GTX 760 and an upgrade would be nice.

They're aware of the fact that people want an affordable Titan X -style card and that's how they promote it.

Just found a video of a Nvidia presentation with the Mythbusters :pinkie:.

Going back to that Titan X video, that card was playing games at 4K and not even noticing. Nvidia is saying the 1070 is more powerful than that card. It seems to me that 4K is on the very edge of becoming mainstream.

4K is still not becoming mainstream here. I did see a 4K TV in one of the the electronica stores (also 60fps), but the price tag.....

I still think the 1070/1080 will be good in 1080p too ;).

With these cards coming out I may have to upgrade my monitor to go beyond 1080p. Maybe I'll do a surround setup or one of those really sexy 1440p monitors. However before making such rash decisions I want to see some benchmarks.

But you'll need the 1080 to play 1080p.  GTX 1080 is $600 while a PS4 is $300. Waste of money!

I'm waiting for the Gigabyte enclosure. Gigabyte always overclocks their cards, so it'll be amazing to see what the SOC version of these bastards will do.

Im not going to get one any time soon, my two GTX 780's in SLI are fine and running everything I play on max settings without lag. I don't really see the point of upgrading if your current setup already runs everything you want it to already.
