FLUTTERBROTHER REVEALED (episode clip)

I haven't watched the clip yet, but I seriously hope that FlutterBro doesn't have just one personality trope for the sake of conflict. That would get rather old rather quick. Super happy to know her parents are gonna be there as well, but I fear they also will have one personality trope to go on.

Oh boy...

You know, it's really been awhile, since i have been that skeptic. When that happens, it's mostly not a good sign.

The Preview and the writer really don't promise alot and this can end really badly.

Trust me, when i say that, it's kinda worrying.

Dangit, looking at Fluttershy's dad's hair now...

I can't stop thinking that it looks like he got crapped on by an icecream cone machine. HIs hair is totally soft serve icecream...

You know, I really no longer care that Fluttershy is receiving a brother out of nowhere.

I just really, really really, really want her to DO SOMETHING in this episode. It just feels like it's been a really long time since she's done anything worthwhile... :(

I'm saying this because a lot of folks still live (or moved back in) with their parents increasingly now. Now some may have done so out of laziness, selfishness or incompetence, but a lot of folks do so for financial reasons, not limited to housing and rent being too expensive, employment opportunities being hard to find, etc. I should know since I myself am still taking classes from a local community college for a job. We should not compare Fluttershy's brother to people who live at home but still contribute and plan to move out.

So glad you mentioned this. My kids both know that home-base will still be available to them after high school for some of the same reason you mentioned.

FlutterShy's brother doesn't look anything like I imagined! I know that not all relatives of the characters are supposed to be the same colors, but I just pictured him with a similar yellow coat, a longer mane, and more filled out like Big Macintosh.

You just stumbled on a narrative secret used by some of the greatest authors in the history of literature. :)

OMG. Fluttershy's brother is a hipster with a man bun. This is priceless. :P I can't wait to see how this turns out.

Her parents look super cute. Her dad definitely seems to share her sentimentality and connection with nature (though he seems to love clouds, not animals). I'm interested to see how her mom is.

I am so ready to watch this! I've wanted to know about Fluttershy's family for so long. I'm excited to have my questions answered. Yay!

One thing I'm betting is that Flutterbrother and Flutterdad will share the same VA, and Fluttermom will be voiced by Andrea Libman :dash:

As one of the few people who don't hate Newbie Dash, I can't say that I feel really strongly against this.

However I am really hoping that it doesn't get the same kind of reception that the former episode got.

I don't want to have to deal with that kind of drama again.

Yeah, we need more funny and over the top drama like "McFlurry being a flat and problematic character and being a baby is no excuse" and Flashy stealing waifus rants

Yeah, fluttershy's had a hard run lately.

Its harder for the writers to do new plots for characters without dreams or goals.

This clip is rather confusing because there's no context to make assumptions from. We don't know where they are, why Flutter's dad is talking about a factory he worked at in the past or why Flutter's brother is there. So it's unfair to make judgements already.

Her dad's hairdo though...reminds me of ice cream or something :P

Reminds me of the Clip for applejack's day off: Zero context and all sorts of WTF. Of course, even WITH context that scene was terrible.

I wasn't really impressed with the episode preview. Fluttershy's parents and brother where not what I was picturing. Has anyone else noticed that there are some ponies, both male and female, that are more thin and taller than the average equestrian population? I do believe the episode will be interesting but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

This is the episode that I have waited for too long. When I heard Mr.Rapp is the one wrote this ep, I lose 20% of my excitement. Whyyyyyy!? Why not Cindy or Ed Valentine or Dave Posky :c.

Actually, his Newbie Dash is not bad, I like it after several watches. However, I dont want this ep written by him, not this ep I waited for long time. He better not ruining it :c. Even Scottborn can write 2 episode I love after his first 2 disastrous episode, but...

Watching new episode with new writer just like roll a dice to me...

Interesting note that FlutterDad has a pinkish mane and FlutterMom a darker yellow coat. Fluttershy's physical attributes are clearly distinguished by her parents.

I knew it.  I just f*cking knew it.  The only possible scenarios in which they reveal that Fluttershy has a brother that would be even halfway tolerable would be if she was estranged from him, or if she didn't know she had a brother (e.g. long lost half brother).  But this preview makes me strongly suspect that she's just going to casually drop that she's going to visit her brother, as if everyone's known about him all along.  The FIM team really needs to understand that inventing characters in this way makes the credibility of the universe plummet.  If I'm right about the lack of explanation, then this episode will probably be one of the most upsetting in the series to me.  How can they explain her never mentioning him once in all these years?  Worse still, Rainbow Dash actually presents an inevitable continuity error with no way out.  Rainbow has known Fluttershy longer than anypony else.  They basically grew up together.  There's no possible way that Rainbow would not know that Fluttershy has a brother.  But if they acknowledge that Rainbow already knew, then how can they explain her never mentioning it?  I'm pretty sick over this one, honestly.  It's really pissing me off.  I would have been so thrilled and excited if we were just meeting her parents, and that's it.  I really think Fluttershy should have stayed an only foal.

The invention of this brother out of thin air really brings one thing to mind:

And if they don't stop:

Believe me, I hope they prove me wrong and do something good.  I really do.

Oh. OOH. He's THAT kind of a freeloader.

Well, I expected a lazy, unemployed loser who leeches his parents because it's just convenient. You know, the kind of a basement dweller who just plays Xbox all day while their parents go to work to provide for them.

(I met a person like this in real life and I really wanted to see their ways mocked in FiM.)

But this guy...? No, that's something different. He looks like a free spirit type. An egoistic artist who lets his parents provide for him because he's too focused on his spiritual development to actually get a job. Art schools are full of them.

Imagine that he would be her brother. THIS would be disappointing in terms of design.

To be fair, Rapp's previous episode was a story someone else should've written. He was thrust into writing about the conclusion an arc that had been built up since Season 1 and didn't have much to contribute due to this being his first episode. This, at least, is an episode that's not based on a previous storyline. Give the guy a chance. Even Megan McCarthy's had flubs here and there.

Why Flutter didnt mention him once... Anyway, I dont care, just give some reasonable reasons then I will let it pass... Is there any explanation for this? Flutter spends 5 seasons and a half of season 6 with her friends without talking about him... once? Maybe Flutter dont like talking about her family, even with RD? Or Flutter told RD not to talk about that????? Ahhhhhg.... logics.... get out of my head, just let me enjoy this episode....

So, they are shy like her? Does this mean that Fluttershy's dad was the one who suffered an abusive childhood?

Well this ep looks like it could be a home run to what a lot of fans wanted to know on Fluttershy and etc or just a let down.  Not to sound um, offense but her brother kinda sounds a "gay" in how high his voice is and mannerism a bit.  :o

It would appear that 'disappointing the fans' is going to be a theme for this season. Let me explain what I mean through illustration.

post-30550-0-20313400-1464963049_thumb.jpg

You see, this picture perfectly encapsulates everything that is wrong with Zephyr Breeze in his essence.

Zephyr himself represents the hollow, trite and leeching idiocy that is this episode's concept. He offers next to nothing as a moocher both off his parents and the success of this show and is just a contrived plot device for the sake of reiterating Fluttershy's overused 'assertiveness' for her 'character development'. He stands at the doorstep to his father's shed like a threshold for him to march forward from the cloistered world of the theoretical into the well illuminated stage of the canonical. A rainbow flowing past is an optic meant to deceive you into thinking things will be alright. But they won't.

Fluttershy herself is a representation of the fans of MLP. She is surprised, confused and generally not pleased in what Zephyr is doing and how he is impacting the MLP universe. Yet she stands aside, unable to do anything at this particular moment but look on at his narcissistic pillaging of his parents home and MLP's established world for his own purposes. The broken glass containers at her hooves represent the shattered hopes of fans who had hoped for so much more.

Lastly Zephyr and Fluttershy's parents represent the production and writing staff of MLP. Distraught at what they have made and disappointed in the damage he is already causing. Their faces are marked with shame and consternation.

Anyone else considering not watching this episode?

Why!? You decide to skip episode just because of a promo or a synopsis? Even a good promo turned out  to be a disappointed anyway.

Nice interpretation. Fandom panic level will increase by 1 just by this interpretation alone.  :P
