FLUTTERBROTHER REVEALED (episode clip)

I wouldn't say she was estranged.

We don't know how often she visits her family, or how often they visit her. Until now we didn't know much about them.

I lived in many different states for quite a few years and I was never considered estranged... I talked to family and we visited each other as much as we could.

Seems to me just in that little clip that Fluttershy and her father have a pretty good relationship seeing as she is concerned about his cloud collection.

Oh, no, no - I agree with you completely; she's not estranged with her parents at all.  :D

I was saying this clip broke my headcannon about a possible estrangement existing. I thought her being on bad terms with them might explain why we never see them, but that is clearly not the case anymore.

If it's any indication, we still haven't seen Rainbow's mom yet, even though we've seen her "dad" a few times. That one can still fill the hole

Ah, lol. Okay, I read that wrong. My bad. :kindness:

The designs for her parents and her brother are really weird and I don't really like them.

I would like to know Rarity's opinion of Flutterdad's and Flutterbro's manes. Fabulous or disastrous?

Oh boy here we go. No looking forward to this. I would much rather they play up the character's fear of failure rather than him being a free-loader. This feels like it's going to be that one Spongebob episode, just played a bit more seriously and IMO with the wrong character archetypes .

Also is Zephyr older or younger than Fluttershy?

Her family looks nothing like her. They aren't cute either. I expected better, like and adorable brigade of ponies. Not these hipsters

Do you not remember Rarity's parents??

Or Pinkie Pie's family?

Granted, this episode alludes to the idea that he is trying to just stay at home for free. That he is just a lazy bum that doesn't want to do anything.

In the clip her brother tells us that the area he wants is the only place big enough for his studio/meditation garden. He is more likely than not some type of artist... or at least tries to be. It doesn't really look like he is trying to be a free loader, he just needs a space for his "business", and Fluttershy clearly says that he can't come in and try to change everything that their parents have built.

I say let's just watch the episode and see what actually happens. There is a lot of room for interpretation just from that little clip.

Yes, yes. But those make sense. The writers like to repeat certain details over and over again with certain characters. Now its 3/4 mane 6 characters (with known parents) where the the families are nothing like them.

I know its supposed to be a bit ironic but I really expected something different this time.

Show highlights the possibility of a story involving an artist afraid of failure in a fandom with absurd levels of talent.

Multiple posts focusing on color scheme.

Rarity's dad looks like Mike Ditka.

He looks and acts like an effeminate Guybrush Threepwood. Seriously, look at his hair. That's Guybrush's hair!

Just to set the record straight in case any misunderstanding arises from the episode, it seems that Fluttershy's brother doesn't just live at his parent's home. He seems quite unproductive and he takes for granted his parents in a way that tries to take advantage of them to accommodate to him, while not giving much back in return.

I'm saying this because a lot of folks still live (or moved back in) with their parents increasingly now. Now some may have done so out of laziness, selfishness or incompetence, but a lot of folks do so for financial reasons, not limited to housing and rent being too expensive, employment opportunities being hard to find, etc. I should know since I myself am still taking classes from a local community college for a job. We should not compare Fluttershy's brother to people who live at home but still contribute and plan to move out.

Maybe 20-30 odd years ago moving out and starting your career would have been easier and smooth or in the magical land of Equestria. But in real life, unless you're set for life or are loaded with cash like a Kardashian, moving isn't easy. Its often expensive, complex, emotionally tough, and Celestia forbid that you have a spouse and/or kids it can be a nightmare. So honestly, part of me might not blame Fluttershy's brother for staying at home, assuming he's not some manipulative, lazy jerk.  :kindness:

The dad's hair looks like whipped cream....or a white cow pat.

Also, I thought the hippie brother would be more chilled out like Tree Hugger :/

To be honest, not quite sold on this episode; the scene seems kind of meh so far :(
Specifically, it didn't feel that funny, it just established that Fluttershy's brother is an unlikeable douche.

I'll hold out til the episode, but this was a little underwhelming, considering what high hopes I had for this episode.

Hahahaha, oh boy, get ready for some controversy.sig-4544844.qXT1wMy.png

Why god why :(

Kind of hoping RD's from a single parent home and that her mother passed away. Kind of like that headcanon.

Gotta agree there. I was a little taken aback when I saw them. :/

I'm sure I'll grow to accept them, but her dad and brother just seemed "off"

I really hope Rapp and the Fox brothers aren't the only new writers.

tell me about it... :(

I'd call rapp the new Merriweather williams except he's WORSE.

At least Williams worked on old Spongebob. She wrote "Band Geeks" and "Chocolate With Nuts", two of the best Spongebob episodes ever.

What did Rapp work on? His IMDB page is really short.

I agree with the single parent, though I think AJ already has the dead parent quota filled. Then again, I don't know if the writers are willing to touch divorce, especially in a world where the mother is always favored in divorces, it'd probably be easier for them to give her a dead mom

If he becomes the new Merriwether Williams I hope that means he will eventually go on to make the best RD episode like MW eventually did, but considering everything surrounding ND, he has a lot of making up to do

Fuck I really miss Merriwether now

Wow, Flutterdad even sounds a lot like Fluttershy. I find that kinda funny.

It was easier in the past (50's till the 80s) when rents were lower and the economy was better with "intro level" jobs that only required highschool training required for you to pay rent.

Humorously enough, I think that Russian from saddle and row review looked more like what Rarity's dad would look like than her canon dad XD

@@Cwanky, You make a good point here. But nonetheless, I feel worried about Zephyr's execution. If he's written well, cool. But if he's a hipster, hippie, freeloader, and/or millennial stereotype, don't be surprised if he's slammed.
