general media Other Girl Shows with Big Adult Fandom?

Hi Everypony

I'm curious. Besides MLP, are there any other TV shows - whose primary target audience are young girls - that have a very large adult fan base?

Care Bears? Barbie? Etc.?

Are any of them comparable in size to the Brony fandom?

Thanks.

Sailor Moon is pretty big in my opinion. Superheroines saving the day and whatnot. I can't say if any adults are the majority of the Sailor Moon fandom

Certainly shoujo animes in general with great female leads and heroines has attracted adult fans from varying degrees. Edited by Melodic Twilight

The Powerpuff Girls, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Steven Universe (it's not really a girl's show though), and some time ago Totally Spies! had a fairly big college male demographic when it was airing. Kim Possible has an older demographic, though, and when it aired it was shown that a good amount of young parents watched the show, too.

Recently though, Sofia the First has gained a huge following for people in their 30s, and it's been getting bigger on Disney that it has one of the highest Disney Junior show ratings for a long time.

I don't know of anything.  I don't think there's anything to rival this.

The Powerpuff Girls

I always liked that, but I never watched it religiously or anything, like FIM.  A few weeks ago I was staying in a hotel, and Powerpuff Girls was on, so I watched it for the first time in years, but it was apparently a much newer episode than the ones I was familiar with.  All the voices were different.  It was horrible!  What's with that?

Totally Spies!

I watched that, too, and I really wanted to like it.  It gave me the same kind of feeling as FIM at first, but I quickly lost interest due to a lack of substance.  FIM really is a cut above in terms of how dynamic the characters are.

There's not much that I know of right now, but usually Sailor moon is one of them and as well as powerpuff girls.

The others that I watched before was Magical Doremi / Ojamajo Doremi, and Mew mew Power / Tokyo Mew mew. They are girls show, but I'm not 100% sure if they're big adult fandom. Hamtaro is one of them. I'm pretty sure Hamtaro is one of the girls shows even though some characters are girls including some ham-hams. For adult fandom, well it used to be, but it died out after the show stopped airing and/or some other reasons.

Other animes, well there's lucky star and azumanga daioh which are also girls although I didn't even watch these animes. I do recall that azumanga daioh is a funny anime to watch I believe although I do own the DVD even though it's my brother's and I tested the anime a little and see if it works. The others I used to watch were DiGi Charat (which i didn't watch it that much), and Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar which are also girl anime.

On the note side, you won't find these animes I mentioned as a TV show right now. Magical Doremi / Ojamajo Doremi and Mew Mew Power / Tokyo Mew Mew used to be as a TV show, but they were taken off the air in the US as (or from) 4kids, and Hamtaro from Cartoon Network.

I think Sailor Moon and The Powerpuff Girls have a big adult fandom too.

Aka "LadyPKchu".

I changed my name again cuz lately fluttershy has been more my favorite pony :3 I like her innocence, and I think I may get active in the fluttershy fan club. I really like a lot of the other main 6 too though.

I'm also a FlutterDash supporter.

I still love Korrina from pokemon a lot and plan on keeping my Korrina profile for now :P

I do believe fairly oddparents is one of the MLP fandoms as well, but usually it doesn't air all the time because of the new episodes and other shows that are being on the air.

Except that show has a male protagonist and I never once got the impression that it was made for girls.

I guess he/she concider's it 'girly' cuz it has fairies? Still, i didn't really think it was a girls show much :P Though i have seen girls under garments with FoP characters on them around when i first heard of the show. Also, the main character does wear pink.

True, but even as a kid, I never got the impression it was for girls.

Fairly Oddparents isn't really girly show even though there are some parts of the show where female characters such as trixie, tootie, chloe, and others are focused on with another character. It's MLP fandom of course as I know about (even though Tara Strong voiced timmy turner).

Littlest Pet Shop is the best example I can think of. It's not as big or well known as the MLP fandom, but it still has it's fair share of older male fans.

Yea I was into it for a while, and I am an adult male. Almost finished with season 1 and then on twitter they announced the season finale. So I was like yea nevermind/

You can still watch it if you want. Just because it ended doesn't mean you can't watch it.

Sailor Moon, Powerpuff Girls, Totally Spies.

Clearly Bronies are not a unique occurrence. :P

Well, I'm glad we're not alone.

I don't know of anything.  I don't think there's anything to rival this.

I loved The Powerpuff Girls! It was the show I most looked forward to watching every week, back when Cartoon Cartoon Fridays was on the air. This is back when I was a little boy, and was too afraid to admit that I like it, even to my best friends. And now, I'm not afraid to tell everyone I like MLP.

I wonder if Powerpuff Girls was one of the reasons I became a Brony. Lauren Faust was an animation director of the Powerpuff Girls, after all, so she might have influenced my taste in cartoons.

I dunno about Totally Spies fandom, but they are was pretty popular. :yay:
Also W.I.T.C.H. is pretty great . Want to notice interesting plot, different main characters in difficult relationships with each other and amazing visual design. I always was fan, but have never was part of fandom.

I would have to say, this awesome french show called miraculous ladybug. I myself am a fan and I know there are other adults that really like it. Also Star Vs the Forces of the universe.
