general Anyone here can't drive?

I can't drive, because I'm not interested in learning. Cars never were my thing, and having a car is like having a rather expensive pet - it needs money and attention, so it's just not for me.

I can't drive and have absolutely no desire to. All it'd take is a single little mistake or slip-up and it could cost me my life, or the life of someone else. Those things are death traps and I'd never want to be put in control of one.

Why hello MLPForums! What have ya been up to?

I'm scared of driving so I still only have a permit, but I'm taking a motorcycle safety course in three weeks, after which I'll be able to immediately get a motorcycle license (assuming I pass the course). I know it's kind of stupid to be more scared of driving a car than riding a motorcycle, but it's how I feel.

I am not allowed to drive (no license), but if I had to, I would probably get a bit before I:

  1. Have to reverse
  2. Have to find first gear, one more time
  3. Stall the engine, or worse, blow it up

I have a license. But I have no depth perception. I can never tell if a car is 5 meters away or 50. I usually err on the side of caution and wait the extra uncomfortably slow seconds for the car to pass before I make my turn. Of course, by then I could’ve made the turn three times already.

What’s that thing John Mulaney said? People look at me expecting to see like a blind and deaf dog who is texting and driving and applying makeup. Instead they see an almost 28 year old man trying his best.

And that’s the bottom line, ‘cause Stone Cold said so!

I'm perfectly capable of driving as I've done so in the past on back roads and places like that but I can't afford the G1 test or the required lessons for the second level of getting a full license(G2).  Also my anxiety makes it difficult to do much of anything....  Apparently, my disability could cover both the test and the lessons but only if there was a job already lined up and who's going to risk hiring someone for a driving position when they don't even have a license in the first place?  Not to mention having a license where I live makes you more hireable in the first place.  Wish they could just help me get my license and I could potentially get a better paying job than just waiting for the next available grocery/cashier job that I'm never going to get.

It does help to point out that most American infrastructure makes it difficult to get around if you don't have a driver's license. It's extremely restrictive, especially to people who have physical or mental disabilities. Add on the fact that some infrastructure is simply not well accessible to the disabled and you'll see how much of a challenge it is to be disabled.
