Oh, about Meadowbrook being mentioned in the Cutie Map two parter, funny how I easily forget pony names unless I actually see them, plus that being so long ago  . Well, it doesn't help  with the "eastern unicorn" business  . I guess there will be more retcons, like the six objects being reduced to two, unless the baddie will use two of them , or Starlight will use the seventh. You know? Verifying Meadowbrook was the pony mentioned, I've also found out (or rather, remembered  ) that her name was originally going to be used for Flutters. That, and the fact that Flutters will seek a cure for a rare disease in an upcoming episode, like Meadowbrook did that made her legend; PLUS the same eye-shape. 

Yeah, probably the easter unicorn stuff was retconed with Mistmane, as her evidently asian dragon spell in an ancient China setting. Damn, I'm going bonkers to watch the rest of the season 

 

Well, the meadowbrooks thing is weird because she seems pretty explicitly made an earth pony in order to equalize the group's races (2 unicorns, 2 earth ponies, 2 pegasi) like the show started out-- so if meadowbrook is meant to mirror fluttershy, her being an earth pony makes little sense, since (being the second earth pony) you'd expect her to mirror pinkie-- not to mention we ALREADY got mistmane having the animal affinity thing going on in her comic (Then again, her "giving up her youth" crap sounds more akin to a rarity/generosity analogue anyways)

Firs I'd like to thank you all fine ladies and gentlemen who helped derail a Starlight thread, turning it into something way more interesting. It reminds me of the time I hijacked one of these puppies and held it hostage for rare Pepes. Only ever got one, and it wasn't even rare. Anyhow, let us peer into the depths of creation in an attempt to extract the slivers of this world's future into our magical decanter. Pipiru-piru-piru-pipiru-pi!

-And last but not least, Somnambular looks like a pony who likes to have fun. And she's insane enough to get eaten by a giant snake. So ... probably Pinkie.

Well, whatever the case, the old Meadowbrook continuity is dead as a doorknob. So who's coming to the wake party? There'll be tiny sandwiches!

But you know what's funny? Fluttershy was originally intended to be an earth pony, and Pinks a pegasus named Surprise  . Nice development gag they did there . Now we have to wait if Meadowbrook's 8 items will keep being 8 items and see if Starlight will have it and maybe become an alicorn

I'm personally hoping starlight isn't going to be in the movie, with starlight stealing the Mirror magic special at least having the upside of taking her out of equestria for the finale.
That being said, I'm worried because Having the villain have one artifact and starlight with the other 6 having one would disperse all 8 out evenly.

We already know she's in the movie. She can be seen with Trixie in one shot in the trailer. She just doesn't seem like she'll have much to do with the plot since she's seen nowhere else, so it's likely just a cameo.

Is there any solid info on MB artifacts or is it all just fan speculation? I understand the six heroes will play a more substantial role. Not eight, not seven, but six. MB is just one little pone and Flutts seems to be her heir. If MB artifacts would play a role they'd probably just serve as magical badges that link the owners to their respective heroes. At least that's my assessment.

Nothing so far on the magical objects outside of speculation;
Meadowbrooks is a bit weird in that she's an EARTHPONY not a pegasi, so her being fluttershy's analogue is kind of weird. (then again, the issue of linking all of the group together is a bit muddled since I can't really see ANY of them that look like they'll make sense for pinkie so far. Somnambula and meadowbrook are the only ones that really are left for pinkie, and those two look to have more in common with Fluttershy and rarity than Pinkie)

I don't think it's too weird if you think of the analogues having more in common with what character archetypes they are and whose personalities match up best.

Plus it could also be a subtle nod to how before the show started Pinkie was originally a pegasus and Fluttershy was an earth pony, before they got their races swapped.

Well it runs into issues with archetypes as well since Mistmane seems to link up best with fluttershy in the comics due to her animal affinity, while her act of giving up her Age sounds like its meant to link up with Rarity.

its kind of a muddy area really getting a strong link between any of the mane six and the legends so far, though that might just end up being the comics not hitting it right.

And when were IDW comics hitting anything right? I mean, you look at the cover, you see it's written by Silly Jeremy Whitley, and you know it's dog shit. Either they're incompetent or H-Bro has been deliberately keeping them in the dark ... Or there won't be no archetypes cause they're both too stupid to cash in on this opportunity. Better promote some more Starlight! For the record, I lean towards the first theory.

Doubt it. The only reason Twi was made an alicorn was cause writer M.A. Larson was told that the show was ending. If he had known the show was going on, he wouldn't have made Twi a princess. 

Plus the fact that when Princess Twi was leaked, the reception to the 'rumors' was not a positive one. And it only got worse when viewers found out they were legit. 

So no. While Hasbro may like the idea, I doubt the writers share the same attitude.

Or maybe she didn't reply because she hasn't worked on the show for over 6 years and she has no actual power over what they do now including who becomes a princess.

Just because Larson was the writer for the episode doesn't mean he made the decision to turn Twilight into a princess. That would've been something the story editor and other higher ranked people on the staff would've decided on, and when Larson was given the episode to work on he would've gotten notes on what needed to be done like the approved premise for the episode and anything the episode had to feature (like Twilight becoming an alicorn princess).
