For me, not really because I tended to prefer a bit of privacy back then. Nowadays, I am a bit braver, but I would only do it with people I know very well. If I ever get the chance to do it in college, which I might or might not

You mean in the locker rooms? What a strange question to ask. No, I didn't even go into the locker rooms because I didn't feel comfortable being half naked around other boys.

Even though it was required and we can't use the stall to change ( a little creepy..), I tends to get away with it.

HEX NO. We don't even have showers here, and there aren't stalls for you to change in. JUST STRIP TO YOUR MIDDLE IN FROM OF 20 GUYS! Ya! That's how my lockers rooms are. But, if the showers were REALLY CLEAN, then I'd maybe take one shower.

Why of course! If I got sweaty during gym exercise, there were no chance whatsoever that I wouldn't had showered before the next class.

:mlp_huh: I think that many problems, issues and uncertainties many (young) individuals have regarding their bodies could be solved if people would use common showers and locker rooms. I didn't see any problem showering after gym class back in elementary/ junior high/ high school and neither did anybody else. Frankly, I see it very alarming that some societies and countries have become so estranged from reality and hypocritical that people are embarrassed and feel uncomfortable seeing others naked or even half clothed. It's just a bag of flesh and bones! It comes in all shapes and sizes, but it's nothing to be ashamed of.

Sure, while being a teenager one's body changes, it can be strange and it can feel awkward being around others. That's cool and quite normal.  But is that something that is natural for us, or is it just something we have been taught?

No way! I was fortunate in that after sixth grade being in band took away the gym class requirement. I never had to take gym ever again. Nevertheless, being in marching band in my last couple of years of high school led to many uncomfortable lack-of-privacy situations, but they involved having to use stalled restrooms and having to change in bathrooms where I all of the stalls were taken so I had to do it out in the open. We always showered in hotels, not anything public.

From what I remember of my high school days, we never had showers because the kinds of activities we did didn't warrant the use of them. This of course was in Calgary but the same isn't true for the U.K. When I went to high school in England--it was more like a college of sorts--showers were required though not very often depending on what sport we were involved in at the time. So to answer the question, it would be slightly yes but mainly no.

My High School didn't have showers at all, so no, never showered at school.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

I seem to be a minority here. Speaking from the other side, I think girls have it easier. I had no real problem showering after gym. They just didn't give enough time!

I think people tend to want a lot more privacy when going through puberty. And high school is the most common time for kids to go through puberty.

That was definitely me growing up as a kid.

But now, I wouldn't mind doing it as a college student.

Nope.

  1. Never had the time. It was 5 minutes to change then once class ended, 4 minutes to get to class or it was at the end of the day, so make the bus instead, then shower at home.
  2. Public showers? You know how unsanitary those are?
  3. If I'm no where near comfortable showering with members of my own family, then there's no way in hell I'm doing it with total strangers of the most immature variety.
  4. Schools don't exactly provide soap bars, body washes, shampoos and conditioners for their students.

No, for two reasons:

When I was in a North Dakota high school the locker room was shared largely between big, buff dudes, mostly sports players. I was a tubby little dink, and didn't feel the need to put myself in that situation. When I moved back to Washington the only time I needed to go in the locker room was during the physical education makeup class. I was a senior, and all the other boys were freshman. Once again, I simply opted out of showering.

Growing up I didn't even have the confidence to strip to my boxers around other guys, I always wore my gym uniform under my cloths... so like hell I'd shower with 'em. Even now a days, I'm not stripping in front of a stranger... or even my closest of friends and family. Though now that I think about it of the two junior highs, and four high schools I attended, no one ever used the showers... I assumed the people who played sports used them.

No, showering after gym class was never required at my school . I'm glad it wasn't, because it would have been too much of a hassle. And I'm sure the showers would have been disgusting :/

Would you have been nervous being naked with other classmates?

Before I left school for good, showering after gym class was mandatory; just another infringement on personal privacy. I hated it and did it as quickly and subtly as possible. And I often skipped it altogether. I don't generally mind a little nudity, but I don't like someone telling me I have to get naked among a bunch of people I don't know or like, just to satisfy someone's personal power trip. It's just one of many contributing factors to my being home-schooled starting shortly afterward.

I’m p sure that my high school didn’t have that be a mandatory, considering how I never saw anyone ever use them despite having them.

And because I had (debatably still do) LOTS of issues about my body on of social anxiety and a fear of being “quirky and weird”, I just followed the herd and never used them.

i was totally willing tho.
