Looking for a type of book. Help?

Hello fellow bronies and pegasisters! i am looking for some book recommendations based on another style of book a like. Iv'e looked for books that are similar but iv'e had no avail. The style of book im looking for is fantasy and something with darker tones. The perfect Example is the book "Arthas: Rise of the Lich King." By Christie Golden. Its dark, its sad, its fantasy setting, it is exactly what im looking for! But i already read it (twice) and im looking for something similar. Help?

Why not just read the other WOW books? ;) ~

 

Cause im kind of sick of that lore. I read two other books from that universe and they didn't even compare to "Arthas" so im just looking for something new.

 

The Hobbit.

 

Read it. Didn't care much for it.

I would recommend the Drizzt books. The author is R.A. Salvatore. There are probably around 20 books in the series. The first set is the Ice Wind Dale triology. These might be more as the sad, dark, fantasy setting for you. The Hobbit is geared more toward children or a family type story book, but the actual Lord of the Rings books are darker, make you feel somewhat hopeless (perhaps lack of a better word, I'm not sure if this is what you want or not). I hope these work out for you and you find something you enjoy.

I don't know if this is too "juvenile" for you or whatever, but have you ever heard of R.A Salvatore? I read The Icewind Dale Trilogy, The Dark Elf Trilogy, and most of The Legacy of the Drow.

I'd say LoTR but you didn't like The Hobbit...um...maybe...hurm I dunno. Everything I read is meant for ''adults''.

Maybe The Last Apprentice books? My little cousin likes those.

May I ask which other WoW books your read? Because if it's any of the books by Knnak, he's a shit writer for the WoW series. I'm struggling to get through the War of the Anicents Trilogy because of how awful his writing is.

 

I'd suggest Rise of the Horde if you want another good Christie Golden book :3 I really enjoyed that one!

 

But otherwise I can't really help you much xD

XD I also read the War of the Ancients books. There are dreadful! I agree.

And i do have Rise of the Horde, but i just haven't read it yet. It is worth it, i take it from you.

Definitely. It's the book that got me interested in the rest of the lore books... xD well, that and actually playing, but yanno :P

I'm more of a science fiction kind of guy, so I'm not familiar with many fantasy books, much less "dark" ones except for some of the previously mentioned ones. But may I recommend the Earthsea series? It is targeted a young adults, yes, but it tackles quite a few "darker", more serious topics than other fantasy novels aimed at that age group, such as the ease of which corruption consumes the mind and soul, or the futility of attempting to escape death.

 

I suggest only the first three for what your interests appear to be, because the last two take a sort of feminist turn for some weird reason.
