Are there any episodes of the show that you didn't care for the first time that improved for you exponentially the second time? Which ones?

  • Games Ponies Play
  • Read it and Weep
  • Secrets and Pies
  • The Washouts
  • Sounds of Silence
  • Yakity-Sax
  • Grannies Gone Wild

I have a few of those:

  • The Ticket Master
  • Winter Wrap Up
  • Lesson Zero
  • Sleepless in Ponyville
  • Simple Ways
  • Rarity Investigates
  • All Bottled Up
  • The Break Up Break Down

In fact, almost all Season 1 is more enjoyable on rewatch for me because of the nostalgic feeling I get when I rewatch its episodes.

As of lately,

  1. Molt Down. I enjoyed it the first go around, but thought it wasn’t that special. Love it after seeing it in finished form.
  2. Parent Map. Had it as an average episode the first time around. Rewatched it, and now I love it.
  3. The Washouts. Grew disappointed with it after watching the translated version. When it came out in English, it quickly rose to near the top of the series.
  4. The Best Gift Ever. Slammed it quite hard for some really bad scenes. After rewatching it, I still don’t enjoy it, but I like it on the whole a lot more now.

My best example is Flight to the Finish. I originally hated this one. Feeling I was unfair to it, I later rewatched it to judge it more fairly. It’s one of the best episodes of the series.

Hard to Say Anything.

At first, I didn't like it because it was painting a "Fairy Tales are useless to learn from" vibe, which as a Disney fan I took great offense to. But that wasn't the point of the moral. It was more about "if you really want to wow someone with a romantic gesture, get to know them first. Sometimes, they may like a Fairy Tale-like romantic gesture, and other times, they'd want something more practical."

So many I don't even know where to begin. Episodes of the show are generally more enjoyable to me with a re-watch, but the standouts are definitely episodes that I used to believe were an absolute chore to sit through like Spike At Your Service and Games Ponies Play. I liked going back to them and finding them to be stupidly amusing. The ultimate standout that took me two re-watches to appreciate though was Maud Pie. Yes, I did not like Maud Pie at first and could never be any happier to like it now. :maud:

It's rarer than I'd like to admit, Daring Don't and Games Ponies Play are probably the most notable ones. Infamously Rainbow Falls is this for me as well, my opinion has gone up a lot for that episode, admittedly because there have been later episodes that go out of their way to be worse than it

Simple Ways, All Bottled Up, and Wonderbolts Academy come to mind. I thought the first two were mediocre and I thought the third was awful. But they've all grown on me.

The Best Night Ever.

Season 1 finale is an episode I like more each time I watch it, I've already watched it around 7-8 times and it amazes me how it keeps getting funnier every time.

There may be more exciting or emotional episodes, but I'm starting to think that 'The Best Night Ever' is the episode that better encapsulates the spirit of FiM.

There were a few episodes I didn't like on first watch but they have grown on me later on, some like: green isn't your color, rarity investigates, sleepless in ponyvile, dragonshy, stare master, Rock Solid Friendship, etc...

It's the perfect conclusion for primarily comedic Season 1. It takes the stereotypes of girly cartoons and goes against them.
