Anybody else who think this would have been cool. Knighthood, learning personal growth. Too bad we didnt get that.

Disney ones i feel is more about general adventure stories while George Lucas is more about staying in tune with the stuff of the world. But what you think?

While I doubt they would have been well executed if the prequels were anything to go by, they definitely would have been more interesting than the banal rehashes Disney made that felt like they did more damage than good

There wasn't really much to go by in here. I know at the ending his said that there was a different villain that's supposed to corrupt the son but that's extremely vague and isn't much different from what actually was in the sequels.

The info from the old interview stated the films would depict Luke's search for his long lost sister and Luke's confrontation with the Emperor, but like that would take 5 films! Waaaay too long. And also like that's so simply put "luke searching for his lost sister" and people reacting like "that would've been so better," I'm just like how?  That's so vague. Also a story about "knighthood/personal growth" like again that's so vague to really judge. Personal growth does happen in the sequel trilogy, but like without knowing what the plan was for personal growth in the "original idea" can;t say much.

George is not an incredible director or script writer, so I think the new films if directed and written by him would've been just as bad/average as the prequel trilogy.

Also, not a fan of the legends. Found many of the stories to be rubbish, so that's also wouldn't fly.

It would have been too long of a story. The first 6 were good as they were, though too long apart (them being produced) having too many design changes because of it.

I think you could take the bare bones of what we got and rework them into something much better. Humor me:

7: more or less the same, with minor character tweaks here and there, no starkiller base

8: Luke actually helps, trains rey, no backstory about trying to kill kylo ren. No slow starship chase, no casino planet. Snoke doesn't die, no rose character, more interaction between main characters, leia dies, luke lives.

9: build-up to confrontation between rey and kylo, luke dies before she goes to fight him, they fight, she converts kylo ren. Final confrontation between rey and kylo vs snoke, kylo dies in battle, snoke defeated, identity reveal.

I’ve always thought that no matter what fans want to see, it’s George’s universe and what he says is the guideline that should be followed. It may be fun to have adventure stories full of action and all the cool stuff from Disney’s checklist, but if the sequel trilogy had followed George’s vision, all that stuff would have been inherent in them anyway just by the nature of the story and what the characters had to accomplish. It would have had a stronger story base written with conviction rather than the flashy, flimsy mess Disney made of these films, because the story is what George cares about above all else. Disney cares about the money. And without being true to the characters it hardly matters how much action or adventure there is. When TFA was made, George said it was something the fans would probably enjoy but it wasn’t his vision. He was more interested in keeping focus on the characters and where they were taking the story, no matter how commercially viable it was (though I’m sure it would have done just fine at the box office anyway). People often complain that the Prequels weren’t enough like the original trilogy, but that was the whole point; to tell the story of another time the way it was envisioned, regardless of whether or not people wanted a retread of the originals. If George had made the sequel trilogy, it also would have been different, by design, but made with care and love for the material. I think it would have been real, moving and nothing short of stunning.  It’s unfortunate Disney couldn’t have found some middle ground and at least tried to work with George rather than against him. With a little creative thinking it’s possible a worthwhile compromise could have been made that would have been far more satisfying.

I keep an open mind and look for what's good/enjoyable in what everyone else thinks is a film "with no care or love"

Some people hate the Sequel Trilogy for killing off the Skywalker family, but I know that the characters themselves in universe would keep going and fight for freedom no matter how many times evil appears or reappears. So, I'm okay with what the final film amounted to. Also, while there were many similar plot points from the Original and even Prequel Trilogies, there was a different plot point here. Especially in Rise of Skywalker where

Quote

Despite being the biological granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine, Rey chooses to deny his manipulations to take his place as ruler of Galaxy. Seeing how he failed to turned Luke to the Dark Side in Return of the Jedi, Palpatine thought he could succeed in turning someone with his blood to the Dark Side. But Rey helped proved that blood is not thicker than water. She even took the name Skywalker as her own despite all the biological Skywalker and Solos dying in the end, because to her, they were her real family and not Palpatine.

And Ben Solo, manipulated into joining the dark side to "become strong" as Kylo Ren, realized that caring for others is real strength not Power. He even gave his life force to save Rey. He stopped trying to be like what the public think Darth Vader is and ended up doing what Anakin Skywalker wanted before become Vader: saving the lives of the people he cares about

And that is why I don't hate the Sequel Trilogy

Meh, I just want the “Duel of the Fate” version of episode 9. The rest  I don’t care. Although I don’t have problem with TRoS at all, I just think DOTF sounds a lot better and consistent to 7 and 8. If any author wish to take up writing a comic or novel for this AU, it will make my day.
